This is totally different from Chinese beliefs of Kingship. Chinese used to believe King is same position as God. And Chinese King faced toward human. Christians believe King is human, chosen and anointed by God. This English King faces toward God, Jesus Christ .

This was the most touching moment I think, when the crowned king was stripped off of his royal vestment and knelt before the One True King.... that's total submission to Almighty God. and the music...so heavenly!!!

That’s wonderful. This is one of the few objects that was newly commissioned for this coronation. Pretty much everything else was ‘recycled’.

I agree. It gives them dignity amongst nations. They have a standing culture and control. Reminds me of existing Kings in Africa. Where there is no King , the society becomes unruly. What I personally don’t like is their never ending privileges. All the funds coming from the poor. At least the Government should put in place control measures.

We can thank the Catholic Church for most of this ritual of the annointing of kings and queens. The Catholic Church was in existence for 1500 years before the Church of England formed by splitting from the Catholic Church in 1534. As reported two days ago by the Vatican News agency... Henry VIII started the process of creating the Church of England after his split with the Pope (and thus the Catholic Church) in the 1530s. Henry was anxious to ensure a male heir after his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, had borne him only a daughter. He wanted his marriage annulled in order to remarry, but the Catholic pope would not allow it. (And divorce is not allowed in the Catholc Church.)

Truly incredible.

This coronation ceremony seemed to go well, with no major issues. Not bad for being the first in 7 decades 👏🏻 The choir sang beautifully.

When you realize that every detail is just so - yet the clerics who are performing the ceremony and the king - have never done it before! One can only imagine how the Wednesday rehearsal went. There must have been sheets with instructions for every step. And each man (usually a man) knows what his particular part requires.

Why did they babble on during Zadok the Priest? Handel wrote the start of the piece with this sort of buildup and anticipation leading up to the full chorus.

Yes, having watched this I now fully realised his core role is Spiritual in essence. He wasn't crowned in the seat of our politics -the Houses of Parliament, or a castle or palace, but in a church. Having gone through that ceremony, it must have changed him. Having watched it, it has given me a new perspective on his role. I wish him well.

Typical for NBC. You should compare their reporting of sporting events to those of the BBC. They never shut up. Point out the obvious and read from a script, taking you out of the moment with their nasality and obnoxiously loud microphones. "Oh my god, Scott. Look at the crowds. As the Reign of Charles ( who waited Patiently for Several Decades for his time to Reign) Has Finally come upon us we cannot help but to admire the patience of Charles over the Years as he seemingly almost made a Lifetime Career out of being The Prince of Wales !!..This little catch phrase I have invented is only an encouragement to William and Katherine to be patient as they wait for their turn to Ascend to the Throne.
