Kinetico Water Softener round 2 Changing the Meter Disc

After running conditioner through the softener the water still goes hard before it regens. We are going to change the meter disc so that it regens more often and see what happens.

Do you know where I can find a clear dome? Mine is a dark amber and makes it very difficult to see the pawl engagement. Thanks!

Keep an eye on ebay. There's always a good bunch of used parts on there.

It looks like you have the same model I do (a K60) 1. Can I use any resin bead or has Kinetico made this thing in such a way that forces people to use their brand of resin? 2. I ripped mine apart to inspect the seals and for cleanliness (this unit sat for approx. 6yrs before I found it). I know I can get an o-ring kit for the layers BUT the various valves inside the unit; can those be serviced or is the head junk if those inner seals are rubbish?

I am not exactly a Kinetico technician.Just a frugal homeowner. I used resin fom Amazon in mine. looked the same and works fine. I used an ebay seal kit in mine. Also seems to work fine.Mine is a model 30.

@@ClaremontClassicGarage what seller did you buy your sealkit from? As I mentioned, it's the valve seals that I'm worried about. The o-rings for each layer held up surprisingly well 😁

I have a brand new 2060s. Yesterday the Technician changed from disc 2 to disc 3 and this morning under the valve cap there is a lot of condensation it seems and I can't see the indicator dot on the valve top. Would this indicate a micro air leak from the cap maybe? I see no leaks.

I see water in mine. Maybe wait a day or 2 for it to settle down and see what happens. I'm certainly no expert on these things, just a cheapskate homeowner that likes to tinker.

I bought a house with a Kinetico about 7 years ago and this thing has been nothing but a headache. I never worked very well from day one and lately, like the last year or so it doesn't want to cycle, so I've just been doing it manually, and after about 3 days the water in the toilets gets all rusty. At my old house I had well water, which I have now, but much better quality where now I can drink right out of the tap, where as my old house there was no way I could do that. My old house I had a $300 Home Depot water softener and other than adding salt, I didn't mess with that thing once in the probably 15 years I had it. I'm about ready to tear this piece of crap out and head to Home Depot and get the same one I use to have

Lucky I don't have to deal with iron or sulphur. They are both very troublesome.

So the higher the disk number the more frequent the regen ? Guess there are charts for each model to indicate number of gallons processed ?

i love all the comments on where to buy? so basically you need to go back to the dealer as this is proprietary equipment, these units are nice but you cant get the parts for reasonable price and ALWAYS need to go back to the dealer!!! in the future buy industry standard stuff, Fleck, Autotrol! been around longer and just as good performance without that extreme high price and worst price for future parts needed!!! amazon sells them and everyone can get their hands on them-

The amount of salt consumed is regulated by the float setting in the brine tank. The disc only controls the frequency of regen cycles.

@@braddhall2831 No sorry, that is beyond me. It involves water testing and calculations. It was set by the technician that installed my system years ago. I have never messed with it .
