For me, the biggest difference is glare. I can read on a Kindle device in bright sunlight, but struggle with the Kindle App on my phone.

I thought you will explain how using these two differ. Because there are some major differences between two of them that I hate. For example you cannot set your own book order on a Kindle while you can do it in an app. Or you don't see location position in an app and you can see it in a Kindle ereader.

Hi, I have a question, there are tablets like tlc or huawei that have black a white mode, its similar to the kindle or still a problem for the eyes?

Hi, so can someone tell me please what is happening with Kindle? Is it being discontinued?

Well, yes and no. Your eyes will receive light from both devices. Otherwise you wont be able to read anything. Eye strain is caused by high contrast, e.g. lots of light from you device in a low light environment. Iluminate a piece of paper with a torchlight in a dark room and you will see what i mean. The device itself doesn't matter much. Blue light will cause more strain than yellow/amber light. Most Kindle don't provide amber light, only the latest Paperwhite. You can turn your phone's backlight down to minimum and turn on night light (less blue) and get a even better experience than with most Kindle. I use an amber LED light for reading with my older Paperwhite in bed. The blue-ish front light sucks. E-Paper hat its advantages in daylight though. No glossy screen, always readable, even in direct sunlight. And of course, the incredible battery life.

I prefer reading on my Paperwhite to the Kindle app, but I like the page turn animation of the app better.

Also use an old iPad mini in grey scale as ereader.

I agree with most of your pints, but it would have been nice to see a comparison as most (97 percent) of my comics reading is done on my iPad. I’d never use a phone for comics.

I use an Android w/o SIM card, and put screen in grey scale. Use it as ereader & media player. I turn on color on screen & tether it to my iPhone for Google maps. Play audio books on it too & podcasts.

For what it costs, Palma MUST be a regular phone, no compromises!

@@valeriopastore7310 I have Palma and I'm glad that it does not have unnecessary functions, like front camera and cellular network. It can't replace phone for me, because I have powerful Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I do video calling, I use it's powerful camera a lot, I play games. And Palma I only use for reading. It's enough

Pretty sad that you have to explain the difference. Hopefully knowledge will increase again in the next couple of years as people get increasingly fed up of social media and look for ways to take a longer breaks; or give it up entirely.

Yes, 16 years of doing our business and people still don't know what an e-reader is Not only that, when they do find out what it is, the first thing that they say is "why don't you just buy an ipad?" So that's why it requires us to over explain things on an elementary level

'or' maybe people want a more in-depth idea of what they are getting into, whether they want to invest their money into something like a Kindle or choose the app, without having to waste money and find out the hard way

Well, the audience is rotative. So a certain level of recycle content is expected, mainly about the real motive about using a e-reader

What does reading on a phone have to do with social media

@@quit-rt4vz Because that’s surely the main thing holding people back from potentially embracing e-ink for phones. And also because the remedy for burning out on social media is likely to also be e-paper.

Whats really interesting is the differences between the kindle apps on android and ios. I switched to Iphone and was horrified to find that the kindle app on iphone lacks SO many features that it was a huge downgrade. After struggling with it for a while i ended up having to sell my iphone just because of how unusable it was in comparison.

I really thought that having a ipad would substitute my Kindle, but a e-reader is a definitive experience that can't changed. Kindle App is just a poor alternative.

I keep my phone hidden away as much possible. Too valuable. My ereader cost $40.00 cnd. Plus my kindle goes for ever on charge. I do use a spare cheap droid, which I hotspot to iPhone & use as gps, music player & podcasts & audiobooks, and kindle when needed occausonally. Store content on SIM card. Almost personal or financial data. If lobo stolen little lost. My smart phone I would cry
