Even with a apple, not many deer (elk?) are going to let a human that close. And, the gentleman actually patted him a few times. That was amazing! I wonder if this animal has had other encounters with humans?

The old man was brilliant, he hit the key point: using apple to lure the deer and it worked the deer crossed the street safely and soundly. He's an unsung hero helping and protecting the deer to cross the road.
The deer could feel the kind soul of this lovely man!! 🙏💕 His compassion for this deer quite possibly saved it's life!! 🦌❤ You sir are a hero and good things will come your way!! ❤

Exactly! This deer is not trained or raised from little by this man, but followed his instruction politely without hurting him and must have thought he is harmless. Respects to the sweetheart man and love to innocent deer ❤!

I'm originally from Montana and that's not a deer I've Elk hunted many years so I'm sure I know the difference between a deer and a Bull Elk

Wonderful---uplifting---the "trust" between man and undomestic animal! And the drivers of the cars looked on with amazement that such a simple event should take place & that this 'gent' saved the creature's life from being 'run over'!!! Great video!! Thanks!!!

I don't know about the possibility of the animal being hit by a car, but it could have caused damage to himself and the humans around him if he had panicked. He could easily have charged the gentleman or those around him. He seemed to know, though, that this human meant no harm, so he stayed calm. It's a good thing, too, that it was a lone stag. This time of year, the does are out with their babies, and they don't like perceived threats to their young. It could have been a whole different scenario in that case!

@@SilverAuntie I totally agree, it was foolhardy, but exceptionally brave and 'saving' the animal's life was the older man's priority! Even the lone male stag can be (and have been) 'tricky' depending on their 'mood swings'. They have killed (gored) their keepers in the UK in the past! Personally having reared several Angoran goats and been in daily contact with them, they always like to 'lock horns' with you, whom they regard as another goat, or one of their species. Hence the fact I was so 'moved' by the gentleman's brave deed in saving the animal's life!

This is how a real man who respects and loves animals does. This buck knew he was a kind man and he trusted him enough so he could get across the road safely. Now a man that helps animals has a good soul and cares about animals. You Sir are very lucky to have gotten that close to this handsome buck!!

That old boy’s got some balls of steel. I’ve had a deer with a full rack come running 3 feet off of my shoulder before, and there’s no doubt they could wreck you if they wanted to.

perfect rescue. may the gods bless you. being a horse rider and handler i give this man huge credit for handling the elk this way. it's sometime used for horses in similar ways. food is a great source of comfort and distraction so he could be lured to safety. hero!

I should have taken a “clue” by: a.) the size of the animal (looks like an elk, but it was a bit smaller in size, and lighter in color in the neck & head); b.) the auto license plates!!! 🙄 I usually notice such things right from the off. I fed alot of Elk going down Hwy 12 to eastern Oregon there's big elk hearts crossing the hwy well I'd stop and I'd grab a couple apples and go try to feed the big bulls I stayed on the asphalt also I'd talk to the big bulls in a nice tender voice after a bit they came closer I kept being really nice to them I'd take a bit and then offer to them they took it .I was pretty happy for that gods creatures . I didn't want to be on the dirt incase they would charge.thats why .but there really pretty they were big also.

I'm shocked the onlooker didn't whip out his phone to record the scene. That older man must be a very kind soul for the deer to follow so willingly, apple or no apple. Nice❤.
