Kimbo Slice Breakdown - Lead With Your Weapon

Спорт

During my live Q&A with Alan Jouban I followed up on the Kimbo Slice Video I did a few weeks back about telegraphing when striking to clear up any misunderstandings of the message I was trying to get across, which was always about LEADING WITH YOUR WEAPON. RIP Kimbo Slice. The Jai Method has officially launched Patreon! For more information: / jaimethod

This is exactly what Bruce was trying to tell us 50 yrs ago. In fact, Michael reminds me of Bruce in the way he intellectualizes combat. Kudos Sir.

Yeah man, Bruce took this aspect from the Wing Chun essence, straight forward, dont wasting time, energy and distance. Basically from any position that your hands are, you just throw them to your target

Yeah I like how he processes his thoughts through his teaching. Deep thinker. I always like that. Not shallow. And if you can follow him deep you will learn. I would have loved to be one of Bruce Lee students. And i would love it if I had the honor and pleasure to be this brothers student right now.

Kian Hughes What makes Conor so different than all of the other arrogant fighters who talk shit and get his ass handed to them? Are you mad because a white man is getting black man treatment. If Conor were black would you care if anyone keep bringing up his beat down ala Khabib? I don’t think so and let me guess I’m “playing the race card”. Not really, I just want you to stop bullshiting and tell your truth. If Conor were a black bastard you wouldn’t give a damn.

I did not realize i did this. In my 2 tournaments (Shotokan Karate) I won with simple jab to the face and i found out no one could block it. It was not powerful but i consistently scored. I thought i was doing something wrong since i was not turning my shoulders. After a few scuffles against bullies i used this jab with finger extensions to make opponents cover up their face. The simple non telegraphed Jab changed the game and probably saved my life.

@Samuel Prime Indeed...when i was in my JKD phase it was all about low leg kicks for entry and making strikers put weight on their back foot. This was in the early 90's and high kicks were all the rage. No one knew low leg kick defense. Low kicks are also great for setting up grappling takedowns after you distract with jabs and feints. I'm not a fan of high kicks since a lot of my opponents thought they could kick me to show off for the crowd.

Hello, loving your wisdom and videos... my question is... From what I've been taught and from what I've read over the years, most punches starts at your feet and finishes with the strike so wouldn't you consider that foot movement a lead and would you loose power if you try and stop that movement.

Wow I never would have noticed but if you go back and watch Freddy Roach on mits he 100% changed how he holds them. Watch old Manny compared to new. Its night and day. Manny is really good at not telegraphing his punches but on mits you could see who was leading. Doing that could become a hard habit to break. MJW's fighter IQ is out of this world.

when you go to guns outside the pocket, you have to have timing: ie. the extension of the arm must be completed a millisecond after bodily contact within the pocket. this means that you have to have three things absolutely down: 1. the range of your reach 2. the distance of the target 3. the timing for the closing velocity (entering the pocket & being at proper striking distance)

I'm taking from this basically when you decide "I'm in the fight, I'm ALL in to Win" and when you're "I'm getting out of the box, I don't want to fight" it's the difference of Attack vs Defense. The body shouldn't be dancing as it's NOT fighting but the hands are. Like a gun doesn't kill but the bullets hitting do. Maybe 🤔
