    Love seeing such a variety of pieces and they are so well done! Please show us how you handbuilt the mugs and then wheel threw them!! Please Sarah I love the idea of it being handbuilt and then thrown. I am a hand builder and have a wheel but haven’t taken any classes so this would be perfect!! I haven’t seen any of the new Mayco glazes that I just have to have. I bought a pint of the rose quartz but it pinholed anywhere it was just the slightest bit too thick so I will definitely be glazing a few pieces today with 2 coats! I love how yours came out with just the 2! Thank you so much for all you do Sarah!! Have an awesome vacation but hurry back please.

    Hi Michele and thanks as always for your very kind words. Much appreciated. Great idea I can definitely do a tutorial on handbuilding mugs and trimming on the wheel. Makes them look thrown but you get to use great texture. Going to Greece 🇬🇷 so really looking forward to seeing their colourful ceramics for inspiration. 😁

    Hello, I am a beginner and trying to do my research before I try my first make (likely a couple of little tester tiles) and have really struggled to find informative videos, but yours have been a game changer. Particularly the slip, underglaze and glaze one! I NEEDED that! I just wondered how do you get the texture shapes on your tiles? Do you have recommendations?

  • @thepotterycorner

    Thanks so much for watching and I am so pleased I've been able to help you as a beginner. I use various ways of texturing clay - textured rollers commercially bought (cookie rolling pins), rollers I have made myself by carving, anything you can find in your house like buttons etc or just marks made by tools. There are so many ways! Hope that helps and very good luck testing out your test tiles. Welcome to the channel - there are loads of videos to catch up on! 😊

    Love seeing the new Amaco glazes, I’ve seen lots of posts on Instagram from Amaco. I have to ask- these are all brush-on glazes? I’m guessing because you mention 2 coats. And Emily did some with 2 coats of one colour and 2 coats of another colour. I’m currently testing some Koke brush-on glazes.

    Hi Wendy and thanks for watching. If I add another glaze over the top and refire the piece this will nearly always get rid of the pinholes. It doesn't always work but you haven't lost anything if it fails. 😊

    Hi pottery sister! Looks like your hydranga inspiration is taking over the world! 👍👍👍 Love to see it! 😃 As always enjoyed your video, that small vase from a 'leftover' is simply brilliant! And the big vase (great idea with the template!) is beautiful, such a shame for those nasty pinholes to show up. Will you refire? Another great load although I have seen many people try the new Mayco glazes and I am somewhat underwhelmed by them. But I guess that is just a matter of personal taste. Wishing you well and sending hugs from Bonaire. 🥰 Ow, btw, the blouse you are wearing is so sweet!

    Hello my lovely pottery sister. Always a great pleasure to hear from you. I think there are maybe 3 or 4 out of the 12 new glazes that I really like. Amaryllis, sand dollar and pink quartz are all good but my favourite is the Gloss Coral which incidentally is the same colour as my toenails! 🤪😆🥰

    Had to stop the video at 22 seconds in, to ask: you use solar panels at home/ the studio?! 🎉🎉🎉

  • @thepotterycorner

    @thepotterycorner

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Lori - yes we have solar which really helps with the cost of running the kilns. It is not enough to completely cover the ampage but it does about three quarters which makes a huge difference. 😊

    What causes pin holes? I wonder if it’s the kiln atmosphere? Is there a way to avoid them?

  • @thepotterycorner

    @thepotterycorner

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Annie and thanks for watching. There is no one reason why pinholes occur. Sometimes it's the actual glaze, sometimes the temperature, sometimes the combination of glazes, sometimes dust on the bisque - too many reasons to avoid sometimes. Disappointing when it happens but sometimes refiring and adding more glaze will solve the problem. 😊
