Killer Line-Dances But Doesn’t Know 17YO Victim Is ALIVE | The Case of Ashley Reeves

"I could be dead right now, there is no other way to put it"
When 17 year old Ashley Reeves doesn’t arrive home before her curfew in April 2006, her mom knows something is wrong, especially after finding hundreds of incoming calls on her daughter’s phone records. No one knows where she could have gone, but the harassing caller would end up breaking the case entirely, and shed a whole new light on a neighborhood figure no one ever suspected, all while Ashley fights for her life, while her killer goes line dancing minutes after the murder.

I say lie and say it’s been about two days so I’m calling in and by the time they are in on it it’s worth it and the evidence proves you lied…But proves it wasn’t you and you care. And gets them found faster. Plus what’s the biggest case out there. Missing persons. So a bit of a lie since we have a stupid two day rule is fine. Ya know. They won’t care at that point. Assuming it’s true. Which again usually is. Cause again they ask if they are likely to run away and basics that gets eliminated. In the end we’d have less dead persons and more solved cases. So Ye. Sorry. I’m baked 😅I hope I wrote my flood of thoughts t okay enough for someone to get it. 🤪

My guess was because it was a small town (I think), it's more socially accepted for everyone to spend more time around each other. And from the sounds of the interview, the mom didn't know the extent of their contact because the younger sister discovered all the calls from him only after her disappearance. So I think part of their interaction was hidden from the Mom and what the Mom witnessed was like a small-town friendship of sorts. Also, people with these tendencies tend to be skilled at deceiving people around them and gaining their trust.

I heard about this story on another channel that went into the gruesome details and it was absolutely BRUTAL . The fact that she is alive is seriously a miracle, she is one strong soul and I'm glad she has no recollection of the attack. But it bothers me that because she had such a strong will to live, he didn't end up getting life. His intention was to kill her, he thought she was dead when he left her there. He 100% should have gotten life. 20 years is crazy light for what he did. And the lack of remorse he felt by dumping her body in the woods and going DANCING afterwards! True monster. She was 17 years old.. *17* ! Preyed upon by a teacher. She should hold absolutely NO blame whatsoever on anything that happened to her. She didn’t lead him on, she was in a loving, serious long term relationship, she genuinely & innocently thought he was a ‘good friend’ & that’s exactly how these predators start out; they’re charismatic, friendly, complimentary, act like ‘one of your buddies’ & how ‘it’s all got to be on the hush’ due to his job, & when they’ve got their victims where they want them (trusting), they go in for the pounce, & when they’re rejected.. their ego gets hit. It breaks my heart she ever questioned ‘that she did anything wrong’ to trigger that attack, & as for that interviewer asking if she saw ‘red flags’ - she was 17 for goodness sakes! But what a fighter! She’s shown him, that’s for sure! She’s made the most remarkable recovery, & gone on to not only fulfil her dreams, but to become a mummy twice over. It's super disturbing that these predators that go after young girls aren't even all that smart or organized. That's the reason they prey on the young and naive. Women, if you know any "man" who wants to surround himself with younger people, please be vigilant.

At a gym I used to go to, the owners kid used to work there, he didn’t have any friends his age and he used to surround himself with little girls around 12-15 and he was 27. He used to tell people that he was going to join the army, but he got discharged after 2 days and I saw him in the woods when I was walking my dog throwing rocks around. The guy is one of the weirdest and most suspicious people I’ve ever met.

The officer who took the call let something slip. He admitted that depending on the fear in the callers voice determines how serious they take the call. He admits it at 2:40. This is why there are so many who might of been saved if the police would of just taken the calls seriously the first time. Had he decided not to take the mom seriously Michelle most likely would of died like so many others did.

Like the poor young teen who's dad had fallen and hit his head just months after brain surgery. She was swearing in shock just as 911 picked up and the dispatcher said he would end the call which irritated an already stressed kid with an unconscious dad which made her say "just send a F ing ambulance please". Dispatcher hung up. She rang again and got the same dispatcher who put her on hold while he whined at someone that he had a real problem on a call. She was in a high stress event but she wasn't taken seriously I don't know what the outcome was but I always think of that call.

This is one of them, because they "sucked" at murdering someone it doesn't carry near as much weight? ....in my mind, the intention was exactly the same, to kill this poor girl. The fact she escaped with her life should be her success and victory alone. Not somehow a benefit to the aggressor's sentencing. It makes so little sense.

the interrogation to get sam to confess was honestly very skillful. i tend to not trust officers -- there are far too many cases of cruel actions for me to trust the institution -- but the officer who was using a personal connection and gentle words to get a believed killer to confess was brilliant and obviously effective. if we had a system of interrogation that focused on that, we'd have a much better one.

A very courageous girl. So glad you came so far Ashley, it’s a joy to see your smile and new life. Amazing to see that you watched your own footage and that by all your wanting to know and understand about that moment, how you have used that understanding to gain strength of character and stronger beliefs in life, humanity and yourself. Go girl🌼💜

Prob my new favorite true crime channel. The narration is usually what gets me with most of the true crime channels. They're usually either too animated or dramatic, or too drab or monotone. This one is just right, and the way the videos are put together is very well done. Awesome job!

Although that cop is a hero to the fullest .... his comment kinda has me feeling some type.of way .... so how DESPERATE does a parent have to SOUND for A CHILD to b IMPORTANT ENUFF for help locating them??!! Who makes THAT call?!?! WHY is EVERY MISSING CHILDS CASE NOT APPROACHED THE SAME WAY?! #unfortunate

I feel like a six sence was involved and he can't articulate that. Sometimes cops just have that feeling and that feeling saved her life.
