    Enjoyed it. Started watching Vanguard when he decided to play Deathwatch. Unfortunately I had a Primaris army and he used all Firstborn and a Knight. But still entertaining even if I kind of gave up on getting some regular big 40k games in anymore. He had a few videos that had some nice breakdowns of the thought process of armies and actions. Good creator. And your stuff has been improving a bunch since the pandemic especially. Been watching it since Beeraknid40k was experimenting with an all Genestealer list. So this new Genestealer cover rules and dash combo with some awesome rending claws is a long time coming. That one warrior with 18 Guants was horrible. I miss Dakka Boy though. I feel like he's taken over your channel and now you're his manager.

    Triple hello! Easiest for beginners: Space Marines, Necrons, Tau, Tempestus Scions, Harelquins, Ork Nobz ... because you get the first two in the Warhammer: Fireteam box with the cards for the others, and the others can be had with one box each. Small model counts plus handy reference cards and played in a slightly simpler gateway game format.

    I went with Deathwatch into this Game after having played them mostly in the last Kill Team. I think they are fun, but quite complicated in therms of estimating how good weapons are. Magnetized you can play around with the layout a lot, but a more homogenous team is defiently better for beginners.

    I've been playing a lot of deathwatch recently (and the 10 or so games I've played are my first ever war games, so absolute beginner) and the math is Stormbolters on your Warriors. 2-3 of them, at least. You just can't beat Relentless. The only beginner unfriendly thing about them is storm bolters apparently dont come in the deathwatch veterans box, so you gotta buy bits on ebay and that was a weird thing to discover.

  • @nastybadger
    @nastybadger2 жыл бұрын

    One of the things people don't consider when talking about the new teams is that when entering a tournament you can only select 20 models. This is interesting when you look at say Chaos Marines compared to Space Marines, now CSM get 6 modles with a few options plus 8 cultis, so you take 8 + 12 Marines, a champion 3 bolters 3 melee and then 4 heavies plus something with an icon, but do you go ranged or melee with your cultists. SM however you can chose 4 totaly different units of 5 that are specialists, so you have 4 squads that take on different opponent's. This mixes up game play for both sides and limits each in two very different ways. Now look at Tyranids, on paper they are great, but with genstealers being 5, warriors 3 and swarm units 8, the mix in a 20 squad is very limited. Do you take all shooters/melee in the swarm or a mix. If you want 10 genstealers then you can't take the 8 swam and 3 warriors. Each fraction looked at from a 20 roster is an interesting way to go rather than this look at a single game. What do you think?

  • @nastybadger

    Interesting picks! I kinda had the opposite thought on Death Guards movement though: to me, being slower makes the decision of where to move even more important, because they have less flexibility to reposition which means you have to be more careful and really think about where you're committing to moving on the board. Which can still be a good learning tool for beginners!

  • @3dLuck

    @3dLuck

    how are they slow? they move 8 due to bell, then dash so 11 in total and then they can shoot

  • @machinamawatcher

    @machinamawatcher

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@3dLuck might want to take a closer look at the profiles. Only the leader has a base move of 6" (a characteristic many believe to be a typo). All the other marines and the poxwalkers have a base move of 4". The bell buff merely brings them up to the movement normal marines have and gives them average marine movement. And having played them a fair bit now, I can say that it is impractical at best to gain more than maybe 1-2 rounds of solid benefit from the bell. After that initial turn you're likely only getting the benefit of the bell on 1, perhaps 2 models as you really need to spread your marines out for objectives.

    Oh and if you will start learning Kill Team from DG or Tau, then in the future you will be able to change your fire teams to 8 Poxwalkers / 12 Tau Operatives and drones. I’ve converted my kids’ KillTeams and they are now balanced in KT2.0! Last night I had an AMAZING game - a DeathGuard KillTeam of 2 fire teams of Plague marines (4 plague marines) vs a SpaceMarine Intercessors KillTeam: DG’s absolutely blew the SpaceMarines away - but not before the SM’s secured enough objectives - the final turning point a lone Intercessor warrior took out a Plague marine that killed 3 of his brothers (I threw a lot of SM’s at that one darn plague marine) - and then overwatch killed the DeathGuard leader - AWESOME “turning point” - and this one SpaceMarine, being away from combat until this turn, took 10 points damage in a single attack - and then then that was it! End of the final turn(ing point) - and it was a win for the indomitable SpaceMarines, 9-13. One more turn he would have been finished for sure - but that’s what’s so cool about no more “5th turn”.

    I get what you're saying and to that I agree. BUT I legit think phobos armour is stronger than any of the other primaris options due to access to smoke grenade. What about Kroot? I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to make a Kroot KT since I thought they were interesting so we looked at the rules. They appear to be fairly good, with my friend buying everything he needed for a KT that night and getting them ready for local games. So far he's 3-0!

    They are interesting in the new kill team but they are most definitely not durable which they prioritized

    @@Longsamkolhydrat If you keep them in cover they'll have a 4+ save with Masters of Camouflage. Their shooting is decent and the Krootox looks like an awesome unit.

    I haven't played as or against kroot (silly, as I have the army!), but they look totally fine to me, just like nay other faction. A lot of models on the board that you can get to 4+ as you say. I don't think they'll have any problems!

    @@GlassHalfDead@N7xRanger I've played Kroot (and only Kroot since i like the models and lore) for two casual campaigns in our local store in the first edition kill team (got stomped first campaign and actually got decent results in the second) and two matches in Octarius and they are definitely better and more fun to play in Octarius. I know i'm new to the game but they are quite fragile in most cases, even if they can hit hard.

    They are fun with the Hound's improved movement speed and the Krootox.

    So you've obviously thought "which factions can stay concealed" and gone with those. Totally fair and actually I agree with you. The ability to stay concealed regardless of a vantage point is super strong against beginners, and this is indeed a beginner video! I think as we progress, these issues will go away as we, as a community, figure out how to beat these core concepts, but for now as we're all noobs, pretty good!

    @@GlassHalfDead Actually was "off the cuff" broad overview. I can wrap my head around these armies quite quick. Where Tau, Thousand Sons, SM just because it's more like 6? factions, I can't so easily wrap my head around how to play them. Necron might be simple too?. Only now thought of the conceal factor. Just looked at GK after watching an online batrep. Stormbolters with RELENTLESS. Simple and effective. psychic not real confusing just buff up if you have the APL, everyone has good melee options, if you pick non-optimal you're still good. Just now starting to watch.
