    Sisters of silence are really underrated here. They are the only fireteam without limits on their special weapon (flamers), you can have all 5 equipped with flamers if you so wish. Add in 2 custodes and you have 2 monsters on the board with 7 models in total, which gives you much more room to play the objectives which was the issue with custodes in previous KT rules / loadout!

    This is something that Shane and I have come around on, the sheer versatility the sisters bring has me thinking that running Custodes and Sisters is the way to go if you're running Talons!

    I have had a few games already with Tyranids, including a few matches against a Tyranid kill team with a different mix than mine. We used it to help learn our team tactics and see what we can do to maximize. The toxin sacs on genestealers with double rending claws felt like overkill and just didn't feel good because the back and forth in combat still allowed weaker units to trade up over time. We both agreed the acid maws or the feeder tendrils seemed like better utility picks depending on who you are facing.

    I'm so excited to finally get my hands on this! So many of the fire teams look like a blast. I think I'm most looking forward to SM Scouts, Grey Knights, and Kroot, but I'm probably going to try almost all of them eventually. I'm glad they went back to basics for this, I know it will be a while before we get all the fancy choices we had before, but IMHO the total re-work needed a full reset and trying to balance everything would have been way to hard. It's a simple design, but flexible enough that you can still get creative with most of the teams. If I did have to critique the new KT though, it would be the lack of diversity in the Primaris fireteams. I wish that instead of giving them each their own, they'd gone with a more broad Intercessor Fire Team (choose a combination of Regular, Assault, and Heavy (maybe max 1 on heavy?)) and Phobos Fire Team (Choose a combination of Reivers, Infiltrators, and Incursors). I think it would have given them a lot more flexibility without compromising balance much. Also, why no double cultist fireteam? :( My first OG Kill Team way back in the day was cultist horde and I'll always have a soft spot for it. Doesn't seem like it would be that imbalanced here. (Also why would you ever take a cultist leader over a CSM one, gameplay or lore wise?)

    Note: Tactical Marines can have 6 bodies not 5 as mentioned. Because the ploys are quite similar, I think power-wise they are the same as chaos space marines, but lose out on the versatility of the chainsword and option for cultists.

    My genestealer kill team was half painted by the time I saw the rules. (I just guessed they would be around 10-12 models) I was going to play them even if they weren’t that good but it looks like I got lucky.

    Great video guys! Without any doubts, these FT are the more exciting to play! At least, as it seems in the book. We'll see how they go in the board. As an Astartes player I think I will be buying a DW box, I cannot deny I feel a little bit dissapointed with the lack of flexibility on the Astartes FTs. Regards!

    Late to this as this is my first introduction to your channel, and you've made some great observations here! (i've already felt the sting of CSM heavy bolters, and the frustrations of Harlequin Domino field and genestealer concealment), but I feel like you guys really missed out on how good Tau Stealth suits are in the new edition! Their camouflage fields make near impossible to target with any ranged attacks when they're in the conceal order, and the 1 CP tactic that let's them switch their orders for 1 AP means against shooty killtteams they can just move into position, turn 2 switch conceal for engage, fire, and reconceal in a single activation. And against melee-focused killteams, fly helps them outmaneuver their enemies, secure vantage points to fire at concealed targets, and they have some great tactical ploys that can help them for when they do eventually get charged. Tbh I think they're amazing and was surprised to not see them here on this list!

    The spotter, from the veteran guardsmen can use a mortar (i forget the name) that has the barrage ability as well.

    Great video. I also think Tau path finders are really good. Pulse weapons beging 4/5 is great, you have recon drone gunner combo. And you can do a cheeky with ion rifle overcharging and using it as a melee weapon

    Quick thoughts on Tau? I was thinking pathfinder+stealth suit team. Replacing 4 pathfinders with recon, gun, shield drone. Which leaves 3 path finders, 1 leader, 1 normal, 1 rail gunner. And then the 3 stealth suits which just have a lot of flexibility.

    @@VeiledMalice The pathfinder fireteam gets an extra model if you have the leader. It's 6 pathfinders or 6+1 with the leader. Worth it for sure

    Your Deathwatch loadout was very similar to mine. I was going to take a Plasma over Combi-Melta, but I've been trying to source a plasma to kitbash in (I'm using the 5-man KT box and it doesn't have one) and I will now contemplate the combi-melta.

    The 5 man Deathwatch Kill Team kit should have a Combi plasma bit included. I’m liking the Plasma more over the Melta since recording just because of the unlimited range you get.

    @@CommandPoint Ya, I was going to make it a combi-plasma for now. I've never magnetized my models but I was going to try with this kill team given I only have the one box. The melta does look tempting for ap-2 and no chance to blow your arm off, though. But I was thinking full plasma if I had one because of no range restrictions. I'm definitely fielding it with my CSMs. I also liked your idea of the stormshield and power weapon in addition to the sergeant with ss/xenophase (which was my sergeant build as well).

    Tzaangors with Inhuman Savagery and Gilded Horns are pretty awesome. Reroll all/any failed hits (relentless), which probably let you make an additional failed hit into a success, and one 5+ hit to a crit...

    Surprised Grey Knights aren't on here. They each have a Storm Bolter which has Relentless AND they can each have a Force Weapon. Also they have the Strategic Op "Tide of Shadows" which is similar (but not as good) as Domino Field Oh and they all have Psychic powers for and can choose +1 Save, +1 fight damage, or No Cover for shooting. 5/7 Lethal 5+ that can fight twice?!?!?

    the Zangors are good; but the Thousand son fire teams are only 2 marines compared to the chaos marines 3, i know you get a psyker but still seems rough

    You guys are putting a lot of value into killing potential, but that shouldn't be the only thing you focus on for an objective-based game. Reivers for example arent rocking super deadly weapons, but their gear can really mess with the other teams options. Smoke grenades to deny firing lanes a turn, grapple hooks and gravs chutes for pregame moves and insane maneuverability. Shock grenades to remove AP, just imagine how useful that is vs armies like guard who instinctively want to bulk up for oders. They also do decent damage in every phase of the game. You could easily stay concealed with them and manipulate the board state to you advantage combining all of the above. Once you start adding in secondaries and looking at the starts/ploys, it's a very solid team that plays the mission well.

    I mean it's kinda almost like looking at it in hindsight already but I think you guys missed stealth suits. They are insanely tough, mobile and hit like trucks. Also with stand and fire on a burst cannon they have 6 attacks which isn't too shabby either.

    The better Astartes option is actually CSM? **And** you get to take Guard equivalent chaff if volume of operatives is a factor? I'm building some Fallen Dark Angels and chapter serfs.

    Me and my friend played yesterday and DW frag cannon is insane. A missile launcher that’s not heavy and has better damage is just unreal

    Standard tactical marines can also take 6 bodies. They also have Bolter Discipline and Shock Assault.

    Can anyone explain to me the benefit of having a free Dash action for Genestealers? Because if you dash, you can't charge. So you can't get into engagement range, so you can't fight. Typically for Genestealers, you won't be able to shoot either. So you have a free Dash action, a move action, then 1 action point left for...? I guess maybe a pick up action or other mission action? Seems rather circumstantial that you would ever want to use the free Dash.

    The free dash gives you some extra movement turn 1, which makes charges on later turns easier. Extra movement is always a good thing.

    @@CommandPoint I'm sorry, I'm still not seeing how. How is Free-Dash > move-action > pass-action any quicker than move-action > dash>action? Because once you've done free-Dash > move-action, you can't then go on to move again, or dash again, or charge. I'm not sure extra movement is *always* a good thing, when it comes out of an action that prohibits other types of movement. Because then it's not actually extra movement.

    @@jamespuliin2847 you can move twice then dash. Which is 16 inch move with permanent conceal. Turn 2 charges are possible and moving to get towards a far off objective is as well.

    Just need to point out that relentless is not reroll all misses, it's reroll any and all. If you don't roll a crit, save one regular hit and reroll the other four and you're virtually guaranteed to get two crits instead of none.

    I’m liking the look of Tesla immortals they do everything a death mark can do but better. Better in CC MWs in an area (can be buffed) Can move and shoot The reanimation seems ok but limited at only 4 guys potentially brought back (repeated until run out of turns or successfully) I’m looking forward to an elites variant to really add some gimmicks to their play styles.

    @@barco7004 In what sense? I dislike the death marks for numerous reasons thous mentioned above but also including their archetype is seek and destroy (which immortals have and do better) and recon (a movement and invasion of enemies area one) which crons struggle with but death marks are even worse at again. If your talking about the crons implacable march then no it gives them the movement of most other teams but then stops them from doing most unique mission actions. Crons are being pushed as durable and as such but they are going to struggle in a lot of games I recon to pull off tactical wins

    Acid maw only turns into a aoe single mortal wound on a crit. It's not as nuts as y'all think. :D The main thing about genestealers or any tyranid unit for that matter is they can get a 19" charge range with 1 APL & 1CP

    ​@@shanesmith447 it is basically a pistol with 1 (one) splash damage and only 4 shots; the torrent rule and being 5-6 (week) hits that overwhelm 3 defence dice is what makes a flamer a flamer. On average you do less then a point of splash damage, which is just insignificant, the damage you do to the main target is about the same as that of a bolt pistol (albeit a rather accurate one), so yeah this is decent, but it is no flamer and shouldn't be compared to one

    You miss the fact a Tactical Squad gets one more model than the DW they Also get a heavy and special weapon and a power or combi weapon on the Sargent. So basically the trade 2 DW vets for 3 tac marines with Bolters which might be worth it depending on how important that 6 model is. This is a mute point any way because the CSM is clearly better than the Tac squad :p An extra wound on every model the free icon and the option to swop bolters for Chainswards or 3 models for 8 cultests :D the tactical squad is basically dead on arrival :p hahaha
