There have been numerous books written on the psychology of this. To date several reasons: - self censure ie you think you are the only one who wants to surrender and if you talk about it, comrades may consider you a coward - wanting to be part of the winning team, a massive motivator - belief Russians are a genocidal enemy who will kill, rape etc - people just doing their job without considering their options - no knowledge of true losses of Ukraine - belief that the whole West’s backing means Russia cant win - etc

Russia hasn't provided surrender as a good option for Ukraine. Indeed they haven't done military thing one to compel such. Surrender is also not an attractive option for Ukraine's military and political leaders...so what might be 'smart' to you is not viable if say you are a UA military leader who will at minimum probably be tortured by the Russians and held as a prisoner for a considerable period...

Russia will also incorporate Sumy, Kharkov and Odessa region all the way to and included Transnistria. Why settle for anything less after all the fighting, loss of life, betrayals, western subterfuge, etc. Never let Ukraine again be used against Russia. No more Black Sea access at a minimum.

Er!! Everyday the Times Radio media outlet here in the UK phones Cameron's office to ask what 🐂 s**t should they put out for the day!! Then they have a " cupboard" of talking heads, not one single commentator younger than 60, who comes on and tells "the nation" about the " problems" Putin is facing both internally and externally of Russia, how he is losing the war, and once Crimes is lost to the West , the entire Russian population will turn on Putin!! Tis quite comical listening to these " pundits" for every single one of them I swear have not heard of the fall of the Soviet regime!! Russia started WWII 1939 1945 when Hitler and Stalin invaded Poland and divided Poland up. Russia beat Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941 1945. So in realty they lost the war the USSR started with Nazi Germany in 1939 but won the one the Nazis started in 1941. So I ask you what relevance does the 1991 boarders of Ukraine has to do with anything now when the RF agreed to them including the Donbass and Crimea as the are now in 1991?.

You know that Ukraine has mocked up decoys of various military equipment. Russia has even shown video of them taking out what are obvious decoys...

What an utter mess. It looks like the Russians are on the brink of achieving an operational breakthrough. If the line in front of Kharkov gives way, the Ukrainian front in the Kharkov oblast will be flanked. In order to avoid encirclement, the Ukrainian will have to retreat to the Dnieper. What we are seeing on the frontline could presage a major Ukrainian collapse. The problem for the Ukrainians is that once one part of the front gives way, the rest of the front could collapse like a house of cards. The fact that the Kharkov operation has been known for months, doe’s not say a lot about Ukrainian generalship. Their difficulties are compounded by the fact that the Russians enjoy complete air and artillery superiority. This superiority will tie the hands of the Ukrainians when it comes to organizing operations to counter the latest Russian thrust. It is also worth noting that the Ukrainian have seemingly failed to plant minefields and prepare other defences to counter any Russian offensive despite having months to emplace these countermeasures. It looks like the inherent corruption which besets the Ukrainian state is starting to raise its ugly head again? No doubt the money that was reserved for the construction of these positions has been pocketed by corrupt Ukrainian oligarchs with close ties to the regime? For the Ukrainians that would just be par for the course.

Russia has no resources in Kherson or Crimea to get to Odessa -- They were unable to even eliminate the UA Krynky bridgehead after months and months of fighting... Also how would they cross the Dnipro ??

@@JosephBisio I guess you missed Alexander's report on the Russian Marines training with pontoon bridges. Rivers were made to be crossed. As to Krynky, the Ukrainians kept sending men into the meat grinder; the Russians could never eliminate them so long as the Ukrainians had boats and men to throw away.

Seems like Ukraine never developed a coherent strategy that properly took into account the actual situation, but instead depended on magical thinking, much like the Third Reich’s did around ‘43-‘45.

Yes it seems so. To excuse the Ukrainians a little bit: They have never had a chance to decide on their own in this conflict. It was the "collective west" which orchestrated the conflict. Together with the low morale of the Ukrainian army , nazi groups infiltrating the army , and most of all the corrupt elites of this artificial comical country , there was never a chance to win anything , even if they would fight against much weaker armies. The whole idea to advance to Ukraine was a western mistake from the very beginning.
