The clear proof that the Ukrainians no longer have large battalions, but scattered troops that go up and down as the case may be, and as these too gradually run out, the unconditional surrender remains. Russia has winning strategies at every opportunity.

Realistically, they can (and should) keep a reserve for an attempt to hold the Dnieper. But it will be very difficult to withdraw troops from the Left Bank beyond the Dnieper (they do not have Manstein). Russian troops will be able to destroy bridges and they are generally more mobile

@@tingleblade4274 I can see the defense of the Dnieper being the point at which NATO does step in. They've implicitly declared Ukraine NATO territory and that can't happen if Ukraine ceases to exist in its entirety. Even with the added influx of weapons it's not enough to achieve parity and I can see the situation snowballing unless we get a 4D chess move from Ukraine (unlikely).

My understanding is that Russia is moving from being essentially European to essentially Asian. They seem to be creating a buffer space that is longer than the longest range US missiles. The easy part will be getting that buffer zone. The hard part will be the military or hopefully diplomatic campaigns after that. European leaders are now calling for basically perpetual war against Russia. I was hoping that Russia would take the parts of Ukraine that were pro-Russian as determined by the 2012 Presidential polling results and that would end it. East Ukraine becomes part of Russia, West Ukraine becomes Ukraine. The two parts HATE each other. Or at least West Ukraine hates East Ukraine. I don't think it will be so simple.

You might aswell put Marshall Zhukov in charge of zsu and there is no way. Russian generals are pretty good, despite media nonsense. They always say that Gerasimov is clueless, but many people including zaluzny say he is a military mastermind. Wrote several doctrines how to fight and they are good. I think Gerasimov is pretty competent. For ukraine however. They are way out of russias league even with western support.

There is a possible explanation other than corruption for lack of Ukrainian defenses near the border north of Kharkiv. A more likely reason is that engineering personnel and the heavy equipment needed to construct the defensive positions would have been exposed to Russian bombardment, therefore a decision was taken to construct stronger positions further from the border, to avoid the risk of losing the capability for building the defenses.

5:41 where would you even _put_ *4,000 soldiers* in a tiny 3-street village like that, even assuming everything has not been shelled to rubble? 🤔 I live in a little town slightly bigger than x2 that size, and we have a population of ~1,000.

I have two questions. First, will the Russians in the north eventually join up with the northern end of the current line of contact? Second, I noticed that the southwestern contact line is close to Odessa. Might the Russians extend that part of the line of contact further west to try to drive any Ukrainians out of Odessa?

Some commentators over here in the US were saying what a weird decision it was for Putin to hire the economist as minister of defense, but it made immediate sense to me. You’re right about our corruption that’s why we are so insanely in debt right now. If I’m remembering this right my friend who was deployed in Afghanistan told me the army was being fleeced for $50 cans of Coca-Cola. Just so the men could get their sweet poison drink. 😂 He told me about the wastefulness and it makes your head spin, it’s unbelievable.

The Russian Military has an advantage in the use of 'interlocutors ' to help innovators communicate their ideas and needs for resources. eg. In the Battle of Britain WW2 a simple interlocutor saved the RAF...by producing and getting used ' Plain English ' which enabled the mechanics to understand the high falutin language of Rolls Royce Engineering Manuals.

When (rather than if, surely) Russia opens a new front in either Chernihiv-Sumy or Kherson towards Odessa, there's no way Ukraine can deal with it. If they had reserves of combat capable brigades in the rear, they'd be sending them to Kharkov, not thinning out those on the front line. Thus we can see that it is reaching breaking point. Will the western capitals then go full retard and send in "NATO" forces? If so, I don't see July election in UK or November one in US happening. Watch incumbents reach for emergency powers/martial law. But what will much-abused militaries do? Even if careerist officers kow-tow, will the NCOs and private soldiers - I'm going to bet they wouldn't go along with such blatant dictatorship. This looks like the beginning of the end.
