Kid's New Daily Snack System and Routine

We needed to re-work how our kids snack system went everyday. We wanted our kids to have more choices over what they ate for snacks, but also we wanted to make sure they were consuming healthy snacks. Come see what our new kids snack system looks like!

This book should be handed out with every baby leaving the hospital at birth!! It’s fantastic!! A child understanding how their body works and how to fuel, nourish and respect it incredibly important!

We do something similar for snacks. We give our kids each a budget for fun snacks at the beginning of the month. We’ve taught them to find the snacks they want and how to get more bang for their buck. They only ‘rules’ is they can only get 1 sweet snack and no candy/chocolate. The snacks they buy have to last the entire month but they also get unlimited fruit, veggies and dairy so they do have other healthier options. It’s worked out so great!

Figuring out to handle the kids snacks is tricky, so I appreciate your insight! I like seeing how different people handle it in their households! It’s also relieving to know that we’re always trying different things for our kids best interest and us mamas are just trying our best! 🙌🏼💪🏼

They are growing so fast, I like this idea that you both, allow them to pick their snacks within reason. So they learn, the value of their items and cost. You both are awesome parents, it shows with raising your kids, with great eating habits.

If the kiddos picked out several different kinds of chips, you could or prob then into baggies and give them a variety each week. Requires a little more prep but could prevent them from getting bored with their choice.

My 8 year old daughter has recently been wanting to nonstop eating. I’m trying to watch how I say don’t eat so much , your get fat . I don’t want her feelings hurt. She’s an extremely healthy eater she just won’t stop

Take her to the child paediatric nutritionist, you’ll find her body is telling her something and you need help to work out what it is so you can control it. They might recommend a tweak in her diet. Write down everything she eats and how often she eats, take it with you to see someone and get some answers. She could be low in (iron for example, I use this as an example because I’m iron deficient and so is my 9 year old son), so we need iron tablets with an iron enriched meals to keep the levels at bay. I’d like to say she is eating for shits and giggles BUT I think something else could be going on. Tell her it’s a normal check up that every kid has and even you need to have. Good luck mumma. You are doing very well regardless. 🥰

It’s a growth spurt. If she wants to eat, let her eat. You said she’s a healthy eater so then why shame that?

That is so many calories in junk? I mean just the Oreos are like 3,000 calories a package of just sugar & processed fats. 😢😢😢 The healthy stuff, kudos!! But, the junk - why does that have to be daily?

I think you contradict yourself a lot in this video. You’re trying to teach your kids responsible eating and meal planning but in the process you’re using language that can hurt them long term. Calling snacks and cookies “junk food”, makes them have a negative connotation. Saying you don’t want them to eat cereal but you have a box, cereal isn’t bad. There is no bad food.

It is junk food because it ruins your health long time it might even cause you to die I get that your trying to tell don't give them a bad relationship with food but they should be taught what is healthy for them also I agree with the no food is junk balance is important everything taken at required quantity is healthy
