The Kia EV6 is one of our favourite cars here at Electrifying.com, and judging by the amount of clicks we get on the site and channel, it's one of yours too.
But which model should you choose? Do you trade a bit of performance and all-wheel drive for a longer range? Less kit for a lower price? Does spending top dollar really get you the best car?
In this video we are going to help you narrow down the choice to a certain model once you are ready to sign on the dotted line. Join Nicki as she delves into the detail and works out which model delivers the best value for money.
Do you agree with Nicki? Let us know in the comments below, and if there’s an electric car you’d like to see a review of, tell us!

I went for the top one, the 20 inch wheels look gorgeous, yes a few less miles, but the HUD and sun roof and sound system,AWD etc all make for an excellent package.Should also have the best resale value. For most parts of the UK the heat pump will never pay its way, yes if you are top end of Scotland and do huge winter mileage, and need every last mile of range, then just about.. For me ,I reckon at least a 20 year payback time. Had mine a year now and very satisfied.

We made 6500 km since May driving rather fast and sporty with 13,6 kWh on 100 km or 1,9 liter of gas equivalent! Best car in 54 years after owning many German ‚premium‘ brands but starting once with Healey and Jaguar…😎😜

P.S. we own the basic AWD with all packs expect the Meridian sound and glass sunroof in Snow White pearl, of course also with heat pump, black only ‚leather‘ seats and white ceiling, which makes the car brighter and even bigger inside. We also got very hot black winter wheels from the importer. We mostly drive with Eco mode and full clima with 21° as we have a Gordon Setter too. Tried the same routes here with the i4, iX1, EQE350 and nearest came to our 16,3 kWh (with the most power in correct fully loaded comparison, so more or less the ‚same‘ product with the same equipment) BMW with 18,5 kWh and the EQE with 22,5 kWh. Kia and Tesla are on the same level. The Kia is actually the Best Buy in value for money. Also in a few years we think that reselling also with this brand will be better than with all German and European brands (Stellantis). Hyundai Group cooperates with Rimac-Bugatti and now independent from Volkswagen naturally Porsche, also using an 800 volts system. Suspension is mechanically adaptive from ZF Sachs, only used in some Mercedes AMG and Maserati. The E-GMP plattform was tuned by the best Albert Biermann, formerly leading BMW M-Sport. So there is a lot of potential in Genesis, Hyundai and our beloved KIA. We wanted the GT but found that in Switzerland 333 measured horse power (PS) and 608 Nm of instant torque are quite enough to keep the lead with most competition costing as twice as much!😎🤓😜

@@Lifecoach7Ra You need to give us your secret weapon on how you get 13.6 kWh / 100km, driving 'fast and sporty', especially in an AWD. Honestly. That would be driving about 50 ~ 70 kph in average, on flat windless terrain me thinks.

Me I have chose the single motor GT LINE S I agree with your thoughts on the single motor version but I like the s for the looks with those 20 inch wheels and the extra tech like the 360 camera head up display and sound system along with all the other extras that it comes with. I didn’t spec it with a heat pump because you can buy a lot of electric for £900 and your only using it in the cold winter drives which we do less of at that time of year. All I’ve got to do is wait for it to arrive 38 weeks and counting up to yet.

The GV60 at only a small premium over the Kia is worth a consideration if the slightly shorter length and thus boot size is not off putting- 4695mm length of the Kia cf. 4515mm length of the GV60. 572L for the Kia boot space cf. to a more modest but totally usable 432 L for the GV60. That shorter length makes for easier city and multi-storey parking. And the GV60 has a more luxurious feel. But as always it’s great that there’s increasingly more choice in the EV sector with the MG4 setting the whole market place on fire. I decided on the GV60 as I couldn’t wait on the 12 months plus delivery time of the Kia. At Farnborough Fully Charged UK 2022 was able to place a deposit and pick from some preconfigured GV60 models getting a delivery in just 7 weeks!

Test drove a GT Line S and found the ride quite harsh and preferred the Polestar 2 for spec and value for money. Unfortunately, with the price of the vehicle and now the cost of electricity, it’s probably cheaper in the long run to run a diesel or petrol vehicle. It’s a shame that every utility company and vehicle manufacturer is more focused on profits than saving the planet.

Choose the 19“ wheels and get a better ride than with a Polestar 2 or Mercedes EQE with air suspension. Ride with adaptive dampers from ZF Sachs (only used on some Mercedes AMG and Maserati) was fine tuned by Albert Biermann who was leading BMW M-Sports for 30 years. I miss in this video 2 points from which the first may be important. An AWD version has an advantage over the RWD.....that is maximum trailer weight. It is also the most important reason for choosing that version. This is for a RWD max 750 kg and for the AWD (325 hp) 1600 kg. As example...This will count for any glider pilot who is taking his 2 seater glider to an airfield..(total trailer weight 1500 kg). Or any other sport for which you need to transport often a trailer more than 750 kg. second point, some less important. About ranges in comparison to speeds.... If I miss 15 miles of range (AWD) on 300 miles (5%) I need to slow down only 2,5% in speed for having the same range in comparison with that other car. Not driving 62 mph (100 km/h) but ca 60,5mph (97,5 km/h) In 5 hours driving my 300 miles I'm less than 6 minutes slower with that AWD. (My own calculations about usage with different speeds....I suppose the effects on the range will be the same with an EV 6 as with my ioniq 5)

  • @Lifecoach7Ra

Absolutely agree as I drive my EV6 AWD with 16,3 kWh average on 100 km. Most important is foresight and a soft throttle pedal. Also you can play around with best recuperation setting or go totally on AI and let the car learn your profile. P.S. the 1600 kg trailer is best in its class. Mercedes EQE e.g. only 750 kg.

Back in March 2022 I almost bought the EV6 GT line, with a £10,000 deposit I would have been £600 a month. I backed out as I thought it was too much money in the end. Now it costs another £4000 deposit to get that same monthly cost, which kinda is anoying for me. But at the same time, petrol prices have come down and electric prices have gone up, which in the end it was the right choice to not buy it and stick with my Kia Ceed GT for now, which to be honest, is allot faster car.

The trims are very weird at least according to kia's website in my country, I think because of the war in ukraine different selections that were supposed to be there are now missing, you can't even select it even though it was sold previously. Perhaps it depends on country? Not sure why kia would make the cars very different depending on country though? Examples: - Optional upgrade to White/Black seats is gone (where the seats are primarily white - not to be confused with Black/white option). In my country this option no longer exist for any model... - GT & GT Line sports seats NOT electrically driven but with the old fashioned levers from the beginning or depending on country? Saw in other yt reviews actual cars, at the time/country you could not even pick electrically drivven. However today in my country kia's website says that they are electrically drivven? Perhaps they "fixed" that for the world or is it per country thing also? - GT Line and lower models only available option is 19" wheels in my country today (AWD/RWD doesn't matter) - GT only available option is 21" wheels in my country today, - Sun roof only available for GT Line & GT models (is it the same everywhere? no idea)

Ditched my GT Line after 18 months, what a waste of money. Sold it back to the dealer who conned me into getting it lol, made my deposit back and some but the kia depreciation is obsurd!!!! lol The brand loses value like nothing I have seen before. Went with a used 3 year old Audi e-tron 55 Launch Edition with all the factory options, 30k miles driven, £98k car for less than the Kia new.... Much less, £0 deposit as well. New 21" wheels and rubber, 3 years extended warranty, 1 free MOT. Never looked back. The EV6 is a plastic nonsense sorry guys, really nice looking car but its not very good, the amount of issues I had in 18months were crazy. Glad to see the back of it. The biggest issues was range, nowhere in its life got 300 miles unless you drove at 40mph. More like 250-270 if your lucky if you don't drive fast if you stay away from the motorway, whats the point in having a fast car then?... lol. Charing speeds.... hmmm the charge curve on the EV6 is pretty standard, where the e-tron pegs it from 1% to 145kw and remains at that speed to 80%, EV6 does not! and is slower even though it can do a lot at almost 235kw. Heat Pump con..... don't waste your money. Kia's GOM.... tell lies. if your driving at 60mph and getting 3.5m/kwh and your range says 270 miles (3.5 x 77.4) you should see 270 miles range at 100% that's what the car will tell you, however, GPS tracking on my satnav and phone tell me that out of 100% battery the car only done 240GPS miles.. I raised this with Kia, they told me my iPhone, Satnav and Google maps on another device were lying and the car was right.... OK then Kia :)

You have missed out a lot of the tech differences especially with GTL S and that would make the difference for me rather than cost. As for the mileage drop just add the HP to back that up as EV charging begins now to get worse and worse through demand and lack of points and reliability of those that are available. I am and EV owner and advocate but now concede the advantages are dropping and travelling any distance is becoming more difficult and charging points less reliable not more. As this sinks in the EV sales will I think drop off many I know have or are returning to ICE due to sheer frustration and charging anxiety.

Also what's never mentioned is that if you go for the AWD versions, when the time comes to change your tyre's - you have to change ALL 4 tyre's at same time!!!! This will prove a very expensive experience, so it's better to go for rear wheel drive only - not as exciting but much cheaper in long run !

  • @1958plymouth440V8

    @1958plymouth440V8

    Жыл бұрын

Changing all 4 tyres on an AWD vehicle is more of a problem for ICE-powered vehicles compared to EVs. For ICE vehicles, even slightly different tread depths across can eventually seriously hurt the drivetrain because all the driven wheels are connected through differentials and transfer cases. Different wheel rotation speeds can result in premature wear in the drivetrain. But because AWD EVs have motors on each axle rather than needing to split the power from one motor to all 4 wheels, you don’t need to replace all 4 tyres to avoid the risk of mechanical damage to the entire system, since the front axle and rear axle are not physically connected - just make sure you have even tread wear on a per axle basis to be safe, rather than the whole car.
