Dev Anand didn't know how to dance, so he was always moving here and there ad that thing became his signature. He is called the Evergreen actor. His all songs are masterpiece.

Devanand was very successful. At that time only 3 actors were there Raj Kapoor, Dileep Kumar and Dev Anand. people fondly called him Dev Sahab. Watch His movie called GUIDE. That movie was a masterclass.

Dev is my favorite from the B&W trinity too. The song makes sense in the film. But taken on its own... And the songs from that era especially those composed by both Burmans and Shankar Jaikishen are timeless. The music and the lyrics are that powerful.

Context : The woman he's in love with agreed to accept his escort to a temple visit at midnight. The first sign of softening. He's drunk on love after the midnight date and the weaving drunken steps indicate that. Waheeda Rahman is a woman of iron will in the movie. She's engaged to her college boy friend. She's a classy educated woman who's so much above him. So for her to give a chance is a miracle to him.

Dev saab was so famous for his iconic style. He was one of the actors who can deliver his long dialogues in one breath. And can deliver 3-5 minute scene in one take. Such a charming actor. The only indian actor who is called evergreen dev saab. Love you dev saab. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Agreed. Where do they get the idea that all old films are happy good times? Even Dev's films like Bombay ka babu is not at all what I'd call happy. Dev's usual fare was usually a cynical disillusioned protagonist turning to crime.

@@pracheeadoni7293 prachee, i was a fan of kishore da in my teens, but after going deep into Rafi sahab's singing,i believe there is no one in this world who can match Rafi sahab's range and modulation. If you had asked kishoreda the same question , he would have also said that Mohammad Rafi was the rare singer. Nobody could match his singing. Whenever any singer failed to sing any song, music directors used to go to Mohammad Rafi because they knew that he could sing any thing.

Mohammed Rafi- he was and is considered by all singers as God incarnate , both as a singer and as a person. The versatility, the magic in his voice, the feel, his grasp over classical music, etc etc. SPB, Sonu Nigam are singers who have come closest to Rafi's style of singing although both of them have their own unique identity. And yes, you have reacted to Shammi Kapoor's Yahoo, Rishi Kapoor's Parda Hai Parda, etc......all in the inimitable Rafi style.

There's an Anurag Kashyap film Shagird where everytime NANA PATEKAR kills someone there's a song playing in the background on a TV or a radio and he goes on to remember the whole credits of the song. I think its genius.

Mohamad RAFI is number 1 singer of bollywood. He is soo soo great. Still not any silky beaiful voice come like him. And he has quaily to change style of singing about actors. He is so so fantastic

I've been hooked to this song for long. Watched the video for the first time though. Mohammad Rafi is a phenomenon!!! His voice and singing abilities are unmatched!!! Dev Anand is a legend known for his quirky style of clothing, dialogue delivery and mannerisms. SD Burman one of the finest names in Indian music.

I think they have a misconception that only blood gore and sadness and misery and tragedy and unhinged behavior is art. What about shayari, the beauty of the words, the dance of music, the gracefullness of an actor, the art of expressions, clean comedy... Anyways tastes differ..

Guide is overrated in my opinion. It wandered from its original premise with the whole sadhu angle. That said the songs are outstanding as are the performances. Especially the song Din dhal jaye haye.

@@etherealecstasy True. But my problem was with the way the movie ended up being all about Raju. Waheeda's Rosie ended up as a supporting worshipping side character. Never mind that when the story began she was as much the main character as the guide.

Yes this is a memorable, evergreen, breath-of-fresh-air song. But there are beautiful, old, sad songs which kinda break your heart too. Hope the team gives you one or two of the legendary ones.

This song is older than Anand ‘s music by a good 11 years.......( this came in 1960 and Anand in 1971). Devanand, Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar , were the ultimate ‘Triumvirate ’ of Bollywood at that time. Three distinct styles, yet all were extremely appealing to the fifties and sixties generations......this was the golden period of Bollywood music with wonderful musicians, composers and a dazzling array of unmatched singers with Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar reigning at the top for decades !🌺🌺🌺

They have NO IDEA Of anything that happened before Amitabh Bachchan... NOR any desire to explore that... they really seem to believe that "Bollywood" was only mindless feel good song and dance numbers ever since its conception. They have NO idea that just Hindi film industry was producing serious thought provoking gems at par with movies like Citizen Kane and A streetcar named desire in from 30s to 60s... and I have not even started on regional cinema - South India and Bengal :)

I wish this reaction was made on the original black and white video. Nothing can beat the magical charm of B&W. Also, a few film makers like Bimal Roy, and to some extent, Hrishikesh Mukherjee did make artsy (or let’s say ‘beyond happy-go-lucky’ films with a hit on your face message) even in that era. You might wanna check out Do Beegha Zameen, Bandini, Sujata, Satyakam, Anupama and more such films which kind of addressed some or the other social issues.

His mannerisms are so famous, you'll have seen his moves imitated in other songs. An example of that was Ranbir in Matargasti (Tamasha) when they're in Corsica and he does all those weird movements towards the second half of the song.

Please don't. Ranbir didn't do justice with his tribute. His antics didn't capture Dev's essence -broad mimicking unlike Sanju where he captured the nuances of Sanjay Dutt. And the song wasn't that great anyway to deserve a re-reaction.

You should listen to more Rafi songs. He in the best Bollywood playback singer of all time.

Rafi Sahib remains one of the greatest singers of all times, regardless of traditions or styles. The most versatile and unique 👌 😍

She always performed strong characters at a time when it was not the norm. Her performances in Mujhe jeene do, Pyaasa, Teesri kasam and here in Kaala Bazar were noteworthy.

Indian movies from the 40s to the 70s, had a style of musical where the entire song would be shot in a train/bus/car with the leading man singing to the leading woman, or a man and a woman singing an entire 4 minute duet circling a tree, or a man/woman alone singing in sadness/love wandering aimlessly in a room/house/park/beach/wood/city streets etc. This was a cost effective style of shooting which required catchy/emotional songs with high quality lyrics and good acting by the people featured in the music video to keep the audience engaged, since there were no cool shots or locations or flamboyant costumes to distract the viewer.

Just to add to that...songs were of very good quality...music, singing and lyrics wise... no wonder we still listen to them

That is because the lyrics, words, music was so good that adding multiple edited shots would only take away from the song... not to mention actors and actresses who would probably sing a whole stanza in one shot... Of course this was before "Jhandu Balm ", "TU cheez hai mast mast" and "tere chumme mein chwanprash hai" started passing off as "music".

Whoever suggested the song , BLESS YOU !!!!!! And you need to react more songs from his era.............. Pleaseeeee

Waheeda's character was stubborn, strong-willed and the catalyst for Dev's change. But unfortunately she had nothing to do in this song. I know her Guru Dutt films are more popular.But just watch her micro expressions as she performs a mujra in Raat bhi hai kuch song from Mujhe Jeene do.
