On Sunday, videos of a Vaisakhi rally in Toronto showed Trudeau and Canada's Leader of the Opposition being welcomed with slogans of "Khalistan Zindabad". Trudeau has refused to crack down on pro-Khalistan elements to court the Sikh vote bank and maintain his alliance with Jagmeet Singh, a pro-Khalistan leader. Back few years ago, I started going to the local Gurudwara, as I saw no difference between Hinduism and Sikhism. Also I grew up venerating Sikh gurus as Shivaji. All was going well, then one day, as I went there to worship and meditate, I saw there was a program being played with some firebrand "leader" extorting the whole community to fight back. On loudspeaker, there were huge speeches. Then I realized that it was a day in June, and it seemed that happened to the day of operation blue star anniversary. The whole atmosphere was very different from what I associate a temple with i.e. non political and peaceful. That was my last day at a Gurudwara.

This is 100% accurate!! A Sikh friend of mine invited me to this event. I joined them from the front of the parade, and as I waited for the vehicle carrying "Guru Grant", I realized all the crowd that followed behind was carrying Khalistan's flags. A single man (Trudeau) doesn't represent the sentiments of the whole country (Canada) just as some radicals who call themselves Sikhs and khalistani don't represent the whole sikh diaspora. Trudeau is bound to lose election and this movement too will come to an end. India from the very beginning have had good relations with Canada and after Trudeau is gone, it will once again
If Canadians are so supportive of khalistan form a khalistan in canada.. canada is massive and those Sikhs are not Indians they are Canadians as Canadian government preaches.. so those foreigners have no say in indian geopolitics

We've a Gurudwara here in Karnataka which is very peaceful and welcome people from all communities. Except rare racism in their kitchens where they give food, everything else is very friendly, welcoming and truly what India represent. Actually their high priests don't even discriminate based on caste. Thank God this Khalistani keeda never entered their minds here in India. Those who wanted are outside the country.

It is there, they just know its not possible in India today. They tried this the 80's and they failed, an entire generation was wiped off. So, don't give me this thank god stuff, 30-40 K people died during the Khalistan movement. Today, they don't revolt is because they don't have the resources to revolt, in the 60s - 80s Punjab it was one of the wealthiest states of India because of Green revolution, the fertility rate was 5-6 kids per Sikh household, today that rate is 1.6-1.9 kids per Sikh household. When you have 5-6 kids you can send 4 to die for Khalistan movement and not care, when you have 1 or 2 kids then you say not worth it to loose their entire bloodline over an Iffy situation, knowing that a 10x fold retaliation will come from the Hindu side. Its the hard truth brother, no matter what you feel, that is the reality. I wish for a Hindu - Sikh brotherhood, but my bubble was busted, it is a one sided love story. Majority of the Sikh Youth Hates Hindus, you don't see that in Karnataka because it is a Hindu majority state with barely 1-2 % Sikhs . Go to Punjab and see how they abuse Hindu gods, call us Gobarbhakts, make fun of Gau mata, and abuse Shiv ji. I am not saying hate them, but don't go around dancing in one sided love. We and live and let live, but never trust each other after the 84 riots. Just accept things will never be the same now.

Let me tell you the ground reality the helpers there are now sending their kids to good schools and have their own small homes. They are insisting on paid leave, insurance and will lay out whether they will do certain work or not. The standard of living is improving across the board. And good for them! You should also study what's happening to helpers in middle east etc

In my country, the very poor are wealthier than most of India's middle class. And if they can't find work, the Taxpayers give them livable salary to be able to live and eat. What I don't understand is why is Canada still getting permission to participate in trade fairs in India? why are Canadian universities being allowed to host education fairs here? Canada claims to be in talks with India to increase direct flights between the two countries, which group will this benefit? India should take stronger measures to reduce trade with Canada and advise its students to consider alternatives for higher education.

Canada's exports to India are less than 1 percent of its global trade. India is trying for FTA with Canada, but wants to keep tariffs on many imported goods. Canada has decided to reduce number of student Visa's because many foreign students are unable to afford fees and housing expenses and are going to NGO free grocery stores meant for Canadian citizens. The prevailing view in the west is that investments in India have a high likely hood of failure in manufacturing. USA limits student Visa's and also limits work to 20 hours per week and that too only on Campus at low pay.

@@francispinto8721The decision to limit student visa came only after India's decision to shut visa for Canadian nationals and visa offices for Canada in India. It was more like a face saving for Canada as the number of student visa applications was already on decline as all the visa offices were closed except 1 that is in Delhi. No one will travel to Delhi from other parts of India for a visa unless it is an emergency. It helped NZ, Germany, Australia, etc to get those students who couldn't apply for Canada due to the policy of the Indian government.
