It's high time! India must consider facilitating online referendum on Quebec independence
The Diplomatic tensions between India and Canada continue over the Khalistan issue. This time on the occasion of the ‘Khalsa Day’ celebration, ‘Pro-Khalistan’ slogans were raised. Surprisingly, ‘Pro-Khalistan’ slogans were raised in the presence of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. India strongly protested 'Khalistan' slogans at a public event attended by Canadian PM Trudeau. Now, Indians have started raising their voice in support of a referendum for Quebec independence. In Sept 2023, BJP’s Jay Panda slayed PM Trudeau for nurturing pro-Khalistani separatists in Canada. In a tit-for-tat move, India must consider facilitating online referendum on the Quebec independence issue. BJP’s Panda suggested that India should also offer its soil for the Quebec independence movement’s events. India-Canada relations deteriorated after PM Trudeau in 2023 alleged New Delhi’s role in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar. Following Trudeau’s allegation, India summoned the High Commissioner and expelled a senior Canadian diplomat Olivier Sylvester.
