I've never listened to a one hour wrestling podcast. Time flew as I listened to this interview. I started watching world class when kabuki, the magic dragon, and king Kong bundy were the top heels. It was great to learn that the von erichs and Briscoes had history.

It's SO AWESOME to see Kevin smiling and laughing after all he's gone through in his life! God bless him! I saw Kevin and his brothers many many times at the Sportatorium here in Dallas! I got to meet him and Kerry several times, and I can tell you, Kevin & Kerry were two of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure to meet, especially my boy Kerry!💪💪 It was so awesome not only being a Wrestling fan in the 80's, but to be a Wrestling fan in the 80's here in the D-FW Metroplex, and getting to not only watch them on channel KTVT Channel 11 on Saturday night's at 10p, but also going to the Sportatorium on Friday nights and watching it in person! My two brothers and me got to be there to watch the whole Von Erich and Freebird feud take off like it did in 83! It's so cool to see all these Von Erich and WccW videos here on KZread, and seeing me and my two brothers in our ringside seats on just about every one of em from the Sportatorium in the mid to late 80's! We saw it all go down from the start between the Von Erich's and the Freebirds, and later on, for all of 85, when the Von Erich's were feuding with Gino & Chris!! I can say this...I don't watch what they're doing in Wrestling today, but I do know this....Whatever the hell it is, it'll NEVER be as AWESOME, and as over with the fans as the Von Erich's and WccW was from 83 to 85!! When I say the Von Erich boys were over with the fans.....They were OVER WITH THE FANS!!! 💯💯 I sure do miss all those Friday nights at the Sportatorium!! God bless Kevin and all his family! #VENation #GoKevinGo #Stranglehold #TheGoldenWarrior 🤘🤘

Wrestling USED to be something you couldn't wait to get in the building to see. Up until the 2000's. It was like the crowds just started getting smaller and smaller in the 90's where I was in Tennessee and eventually just ppl stopped coming. Thank Vince and the internet for that....

Kevin was and still is my favorite wrestler of all time. Unfortunately I only got to see him wrestle live one time and that was in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He fought Kamala. If I remember correctly he won by DQ. Kamala did a splash off the top rope on him after the match ended. I lived in Woodward, Oklahoma and I got to see Kerry wrestle live. I still have the Kerry Von Erich t-shirt I bought that night as well as an 8x10 photo, which Kerry signed. I was supposed to see Kerry a second time, but that was right after he had his accident. Bruiser Brody filled in for him. The mid to late 80's was just a magical time for WCCW. If Fritz would have had a bigger vision for WCCW, it would have become as big or bigger than the WWF. As Kevin alluded to, it's a mystery why Fritz did not embrace taking WCCW nationwide instead of remaining territorial. A lot of WCCW talent got on drugs and that spelled the end for the organization. I still have great memories though. After I moved to Texas, a friend of mine won tickets to the 4th Annual David Von Erich Memorial at Texas Stadium. That was such a cool experience. Even WWE today cant match the magic that was WCCW in the mid to late 1980's.

This was GREAT! Thanks for getting Kevin on the show. We would get World Class on 📺 in NJ on ESPN I believe on Sat or Sun. So many great guys came out of that territory. I was always surprised Kevin never went to WCW or WWF in the early 90s. Also Brisco & Bradshaw were great as well. I wish Bradshaw didn't retire in 2009. He still had some gas in the tank. Great old school heel.

WCCW pioneered the close hand held cameras and micorphones. Also the oustide vignettes. The Freebirds innovated ring entrance music and brought that with them to WCCW. Without these innovations wrestling woudlnt be what it is now. VM didnt invent anything, but he won by stealing all the best elements from everyone else, WCCW included. Unfortunately, so many “what ifs” from WCCW and elsewhere. What if David hadnt passed? What if Gino hadnt passed? Might Kerry had never gotten into his troubles if David had lived? If the brothers had been fien, might WCCW have grown and the Monday Night War might have been WCCW vs WWF since “maybe” WCW may have newver happened if WCCW had grown. Gary Hart does not get enough credit for his work as a manager.

Kevin was my favorite of all the Von Erichs and think he had a lot more gas in tank to compete on national tv....I mean, unless you are a die hard wrestling fan that bought the magazines like I did, Kevin was never introduced to the nation. I did see a video of him on Georgia Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie, and he is super super young! I mean, we all know the stories of no showing and substance issues, but I was just curious if he turned them down or did they never reach out? Or was he injured and beat up where he just retired and let that be known? Anyone have an answer, I would appreciate it.
