Kevin Smith Talks About His Comedy Special, "Silent but Deadly"

Ойын-сауық

On February 25, veteran comic Kevin Smith took the stage at the Alex Theater in Glendale, CA to perform the first of two planned stand-up shows. But right after the first show ended, he suffered a near-fatal heart attack. Smith cheated death, and the special shot that fateful evening was "Kevin Smith: Silent but Deadly." In the special, Smith riffs on marriage, fatherhood, friends and his work (or lack thereof). Lucky and happy to be alive, the award-winning comedian/filmmaker/writer/actor/podcaster now brings this death-defying special to his multitude of fans.

Kevin, I loved your story of assessing your life as you lay there on the precipice of death during your heart attack. I can only hope that I remember this story as I'm leaving this world. I also hope that as I go I can also say I have no complaints. And thank you for never giving up on Mewes. He is such a unique gem and none of would know of him or yourself if you didn't go after your dreams and drag him with you. I've heard you say that as he was going through rehab, doctors and therapists had accused you of enabling him. But what you really did was never shut the door on him. Most people would have gotten a taste of success and looked at Mewes as a burden or an embarrassment and just left him behind but you never gave up on him and he is still alive and you are still alive and you both grace us with an abundance of laughter and joy and I'm so very grateful. Thanks man. A long time fan.

I remember being, I think my early teens when Clerks came out on VHS and I watched it so often it got on other people's nervous. I thought it was the funniest damn thing I have every seen and except for cop out I've seen every movie he's done and still am amaze what he can come up with. When heard about his heart attack I was shocked and hoped he would make it, not just because I love his but because he is such a positive person that n matter how shitty things are going watch him just talk just cheers you up. I can't count the time's I was thankful that there was a new Fatman on Batman video on youtube when I came home after a crappy day.

Odd....its not planet earth. Its planet freakin' America. It just dawned on me that American Pop Culture....is actually the whole worlds pop culture. So the entire planet is ...well not technically....but ideologically American. Then it just dawned on me...that this comment while not being entirley accurate...has some grains of truth.

It's sad Kevin is so insecure about his physique. Something traumatic must have happened to make him so incredibly neurotic that he won't let his wife or even doctors see him naked. Poor guy.

If you listen to his podcasts you get the sense that his body shame started at a water park with the guy working there making sure people wouldn't double slide calling him pregnant when he was 8. And he has hinted at some other experiences but never shared them in great detail
