100% Let's face it, Belgium is unlikely to win the next WC, which is one of the few trophies missing from his mantle. Other than that...what has he not already accomplished? If he wants to end his career by feathering his nest to provide for his family, it's nobody else's business.

Many people appear to forget, including these pundits, that these players play a sport for a living and it’s their job. All the constant talk about legacy is sports media driven. The practical reality is most players could care less about legacy. They are trying to earn as much money as possible in this short period of their lives for themselves, their family, their friends, and community. The tax free money players like De Bruyne would make in Saudi Arabia is multi, multi, multi generational money. People need to come back to reality and realize the practical realities of these players playing this sport as a profession and not to appease text book history buffs like Gab who constantly talk about legacies.

But in Saudi he said that he would make in two years the same as in the 15 years of his past career ( source is Interview Belgian magazine ) . So I guess 30-40 million per year net is probably a good guess . Rumours is that Al hilal (the champions in the Saudi league) are interested in him . Most of the money for these expensive transfers is provided by the government , so there is not always a choice as they want to prevent all money going to one club . There are certain rules. Even though he has a few more years left in him at the highest level despite him going through a decline in his physical abilities, you can’t rule out a potential move to Saudi Arabia for Kevin De Bruyne. His future is uncertain at Manchester City because we don’t know what’s going to happen to Pep Guardiola as he has hinted that he’s more closer to leaving than staying and if that happens next year I expect KDB to follow him out the door and it won’t be shocking if he leaves. Considering the fact that he’s on the wrong side of 30, he has some big decisions to make for club and country as he has to decide if he wants to remain at the top level since he could soon retire from international football meaning that he’ll only have to worry about his club and he has been vocal about the scheduling in modern football and how players are playing more and more games without any rest. This plays a role in his next move and if he decides to go to Saudi Arabia I honestly have no issue with it. Depending on when he retires from international football it might be after the EUROs possibly, he would want to end his career without having to deal with a congested schedule. Since he’s 32 years old, he won’t play at the top level forever and in the last 18 months, players have been going to Saudi Arabia as the money that they’ve been offering, it’s too difficult for the players to turn down and you can’t really blame them or criticize them for that. Players have been criticized for going to Saudi Arabia where they’re taking the money even though they have some football left in them at the top level. He said that he’s open to a move there and if you have an issue with players going to Saudi Arabia for the money, I’m sorry but you’ve never worked a day in your life. I know that all these players are making a lot of money in Europe, you earn twice of that in the Middle East and that’s generational wealth and you can use that money for anything to enjoy your life after your retirement take care of your family and pay for your kid’s education and future. Very soon, bro is about to learn Arabic.

There is a difference between offering so much money to a typical worker with a normal salary (the offer would be lifechanging) or to a footballer who's playing for one of the richest clubs in the world already earning big big money, which should already secure a good life for him, his children and even grandchildren.

Good for KDB. He already paid his due in City he should just enjoy his time in Saudi and get the money. Foden is ready to step up, and City already have new signings planned. So yea, generational wealth at the end of the day all the comments arent gonna bother kdb when he retires with Saudi wealth

There is a thing called marginal profit. KDB and other footballers on this level earn big money, more money than probably 98% of all people over the world. He can live a life in peace with absolutely no financial concerns without this transfer. He generally also seems like a nice bloke. But then why ignore any kind of moral perspective on this transfer to Saudi Arabia just for additional money which at the end doesn't really affect how you can live your life. The second or third watch or car you buy is probably still great, but doesn't it get almost worthless buying the 10th or 20th watch for example?

Who is this guy who says 'any human being will think like that' - what? Not everyone bases all their decisions on the money alone - or even takes the money into account at all when there are other factors to be weighed. Consider... Messi is a 'human being' as well - did Messi 'think like that'? We can't be sure, but we do know the outcome and Messi is not the sole example.

The decision to go to Saudi is also about a lesser schedule, a break from the Prem's physicality and the difficult road that City walks each and every season. All those competitions bring expectations that a side like City has to shoulder. Couple those club demands with national team duties, a season in Saudi is a virtual holiday. Less media. Less Pep, not letting the lad talk. Less mid-week travel. Oh yeah, AND the money. Saudi is most certainly in play, if not in 2024-25, definetly in the years to come.

KDB is 32, with the body of a 36 year old, given his injury history. This was inevitable and I'm sure City has already been making plans for his replacement, unlike their Manchester neighbors who can't even decide on their manager 2 weeks after the season ended.
