It’s obvious to many people that Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham cannot play in the same team of Gareth Southgate is going to regularly both of them out of position. For England, Foden has been starting their games out wide as a left winger and whenever they have the ball, he’s drifting centrally which is an area of the pitch where he’s at his best and a concern for them in that regard is that the left side is often isolated and there’s no overlapping fullback or natural left sided winger when most of your attacks are on the right side and the player who starts on the left is occupying the same positions that Kane and Bellingham take up. For many years at Tottenham alongside Heung Min Son, Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling for the England national team, those profile of wingers have a great understanding when they play alongside Kane in attack and they need someone like that and they have to play Anthony Gordon more. I don’t want to make the “out of position” excuse especially when they can’t operate well in Southgate’s system, realistically speaking, he can play anywhere, Bellingham isn’t a natural attacking midfielder as he only played there because Real Madrid didn’t have a proper number 9 and in a team that has Foden and Palmer why is he still playing as a number 10. He’s not going to dictate the pace of a game since he’s not that type of midfielder as in their last 2 games, he’s been regularly losing possession of the ball, his role is to make deep runs into the box and try to protect their defense. Kane is dropping way too deep and while that’s a frustration among fans and pundits, there has to be a more balanced approach when it comes to all 3 of their key players going forward. There is a stat that says that Foden has completed more passes to Pickford than he has to Kane and this is a sign of England’s lack of chemistry and all the best players on the pitch not clicking together. If you’re gonna play them in the same team then Foden should be the number 10 and then Bellingham should be a deep lying midfielder and the perfect partner next to Declan Rice. Here’s the thing what’s gonna happen with Kobbie Mainoo because with the way he played after he came on at half time as he was making passes and tried to impact the game, what do you do with him surely he has to start against Slovakia, what do you do with Cole Palmer as he had his moments off the bench, do you start him at right wing ahead of Bukayo Saka or do you accommodate Palmer play him at right wing and then put Saka at left back which is a position that he played in at the start of his career and there isn’t any proper left backs in the team. As we’ve said for many months, it’s difficult to really pick the best starting XI with the England national team and their continued poor performances in the group stages means that Southgate has a lot of changes to make before Sunday’s game to make sure that he’s getting the most out of these players because when you have a lot of talent in the team it doesn’t matter how good they are, you have to try and fit the right players in the best team rather than try to accommodate all of your best players because that has created a big imbalance and the signs that Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden can’t play together, England faced a similar situation when they had Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. With the way he has performed in the last 2 games, there’s a feeling that Bellingham is too comfortable in the team knowing full well that his starting place is secure and he won’t get dropped or subbed out even if he ghosts for 90 minutes. If you feel like Bellingham and Foden can’t gel together in the same team and Kane is going to isolated where he’ll be dropping deep and not get enough service, then don’t play one of them and if you want to play one of them, play them where they best fit in the team.

What difference does RVN bring? Well what about helping out Hojlund? What about teaching Utd players how to finish? Everybody was complaining we didn't score enough last season and now Stevie thinks RVN won't make a difference?

Bellingham’s abilities have been overstated just because he plays for Real Madrid, he was playing in the weakest La Liga in over 40 years and never thought he was even close to being England’s best player, he just played in much weaker league that made him look better like Kane getting his best career statistics in the Bundesliga because much easier and kind of ruined him as an England player because he has lost his sharpness playing in a lower quality league. England are not passing the ball well enough in midfield to be playing only one player with pace in an attacking position in Saka. Gordon has to go on the left so you have two players with speed on the counter that push defensively lines back stretching teams more and giving the midfield more time and space to play. This is a.very simple thing to do that will make England play a lot better, but the fact most people think Southgate is such a bad coach he will never do it shows why England will never win anything because the FA wanted to give him an extension to next World Cup, showing how clueless the decision makers are at the FA.

I'd suggest, playing for City makes Foden look better as well, wouldn't you agree? That said, I do believe Kane's lack of pace is a huge problem, and I agree on Bellingham's flaws being hidden by the brilliance of his Madrid teammates. Also, Palmer and Foden are your most technically gifted players and Saka is the fastest, so you should build around that. I also agree on England needing a true (and pace-y) LW.

I enjoy watching it but I'm just saying that a lot of english football fans (I live in england myself) think the prem is the best league in the world from a technical standpoint but that isn't the case. The prem is mostly pace and power over technical ability. La Liga values technical ability over physicality. But later stages against stronger opponents, England may have to do the opposite that's where counter attack will be the play. Then it will be Bellingham replacing foden and Watkins for Kane for more legs and energy. Palmer, Kane and foden will come on when opposite took a lead and sit back.

And when a player like Bellingham does move forward after passing, either Trippier or Foden passes it back to Rice or Juhi. It's frustrating to see, especially after seeing Vini receive the pass from Jude and moving forward, always forward, all season. Off the ball Jude's also moving forward, it creates confusion to the defenders on who to mark. It's a simple solution, and it's a beautiful thing. Over on the right wing, it's the same thing with Walker and Saka. But when Saka decided to move and Walker passed, England's first goal came. When Walker decided to move and cross, England's second goal came. That's how simple it is.
