I agree. Mainoo and Palmer as well as Gordon made the game more positive in the midfield and the attack for the few minutes they were on at least. The midfield and left wing is a major issue. Mainoo and Gordon must start, and maybe Palmer as well. Foden and Bellingham were trying to play the same position from the average positions I've seen so Foden must not play left wing and either play attacking midfield or right wing even if you have to drop Saka.

Jude and Foden arnt similar players imo. Jude is an athletic monster, Foden is a technical wizard, they might have the same preferred position but they are very different

@Mikejames1080 that's what I hoped for to begin with but I think there's no chance Southgate goes for that now. A solution to getting the best out of the lads now may be to switch foden and saka, saka wouldn't like it but it might be the simplest switch that softgate would go for

After the long flight, I was worried about Foden underperforming in the R16 game. Its tough on Easy Jet. And he played so well in the first three games. Such a physical presence.

What Bellingham and Foden need is a left winger and for Kane to stay up front. It's like the m25 on that left side of centre where they're both operating.

Pep is all an time great. But comparing his club sides to this England team is difficult. Foden is good on a dominant City side against half a league of mediocre teams. So far, it's on him. What's he done when he had the ball? Skew a shot into row F? Tickle the post? Cut inside into a crowd. He needs to step up.

Here’s the thing...if we were playing free flowing, entertaining, attacking and exciting football, the players wouldn’t be tired!! Everybody knows that when you enjoy your work it doesn’t feel like work

The team wasn’t balanced until the 89th minute when Gordon came on and joined Palmer and Mainoo.

Bellingham badly needs a rest, it's down to the manager to tell the player he needs a rest. No one is saying he needs to be dropped. The lad is knackered it's obvious

We have the squad to rest players if needs be. Dropping Bellingham isn't an issue when you have players like Foden, Palmer, Mainoo. Give Bellingham a rest if he needs it, no point in playing someone who's knackered!

We need to play Trippier at number 10 if we are to have any hope

Foden is disrupting the football flow by running here there and everywhere getting in the way! Drop him!

That's weird because that's exactly how I perceive Bellingham.

Mainoo is a must start but all he did was back pass more than conor, but nothing about palmer when he looked like the best player on the team.

@@UnboxRacing no honestly, elite sports is about mindset. If we stopped trashing are own players and remained positive and through rough periods you would they will excel. How many great footballers have worn the england shirt? What do they all have in common unprecedented pressure and over blaming from their own fans. If Jude felt he was not fit, he is mature to tell the manager and would ask to sit for a couple if matches. I think the entire England squad would excel if we too did our part and supported them with a support that's due, and believe in them because their achievements speak for themselves. I wish we could try it collectively five matches just keep cheering them on no matter what and see if it impact the game.

My line up is Pickford, Walker Stones, Shaw , Arnold, Rice Gallagher Mainoo, Foden left winger Palmer striker Saka right winger, i don't know if Rico Lewis is in the group as well as Mc Atee and Gomez

Bellingham needs to stop whining, grow a set, and get on with it. I have no doubt it's been a long season, but come on. Your a young man, exceptionally fit, and opportunities like this do not come along often. The problem with Southgate, and England in general, was the comment about finding a way to play Foden and Bellingham together. It's not about finding a system so they can play together, it's about a system that gets the TEAM to play together. This coddling of egos will be what sinks this team.

Oh please, Bellingham just scored 23 goals for Real Madrid, was one of their best players, won the Champions Legaue, was voted La Liga player of the season, one year after being voted Bundesliga player of the season, all whilst being 20 years old.
