I was born and raised in Germany, so I was raised to play soccer. In 1990 I made my first and till today last trip to the US. And every evening at a motel or hotel there was baseball on TV. I was unable to understand the rules, so I bought myself a book „Baseball by the rules“ and I started to understand the game and its rules. The next season I witnessed my first World Series and became an Atlanta Braves fan. Back then it wasn‘t easy to watch games on TV. But one day I found out that AFRTS was covering games, so I started to listen games on the radio. Something I still love doing, today on the internet. I read books about the history of that wonderful and unique game of Baseball. But It wasn‘t till the late 90th that I watched that masterpiece. I rewatched it several times and it still brings me to tears when Ray plays catch with his father. I‘d Love to play catch with my father who passed away on Christmas eve in 1981 two days before my 12th birthday. I‘d love to have the chance to do it the way they did 😢

I'd like to share that my children have not had this blessing, as their father has been virtually absent. I know I can't be their father, but I've learned to coach 9 different sports to give them the opportunity to play and learn comrodderie and have the support of their friends. I'm just trying to be the best mom that I can. I often hear, "Mom, catch?" and I make sure I do so. I hope they love me just as much as you loved your Dad when it's my turn to leave this Earth. Thank you and may the memory of your Dad fill your heart with love always.

Got to see this movie in the theater with my dad when I was 9. Watching those guys appear out of the cornfield made me feel 9 again. I'm from Wisconsin and got a baseball scholarship. Before we all split up and went our separate ways a few buddies of mine all decided to have an epic road trip and we drove down to Iowa to play catch at the Field of Dreams. One of the best experience of my life.

Great story. I hope you all are able to keep in touch. I just drove by this field last week on a business trip to South Dakota. Some people think this part of the country is boring but I think it's really beautiful.

@@MrLivewire1970agreed. Anytime I visit family in Washington State or family in Wisconsin... I always plan enough time to drive. Never fly. Even after having kids. It's beautiful country. Always see something new and stop at little places you would never existed if you flew every time. And there's always a new stop to be made. Some places you stop as often you can, because it's just impressive... Like Devil's Tower and Mt. Rushmore and the Battle of Little Big Horn. Other places, you notice it and just let curiosity take the wheel. My dad always road tripped with my siblings and myself to visit his parents in Wisconsin and those are some the of the best childhood memories. And now having kids of my own, they've made the journey four times thus far and it is always fun the games we play and they come up with, the music we jam out to, the conversations and the appreciation for our country and all it has to offer, the people you meet and chat with at restaurants and rest stops. Just... Always a fun time and never the same. Have yet to make a stop at Field of Dreams, maybe this Summer. My grandfather STILL drives from Florida up to Alaska to visit my aunt that lives there. He's 84 now and may fly to where to my Uncle lives so he can have my uncle co-pilot or take the wheel when he's tired, but he still road trips and drives as often as he can for these reasons and many more.

I’ve never watched a full game of baseball in my life. Never really enjoyed the sport to ever watch a full game. Was at a buddies house and we watched this whole thing. Everything about this, from the theatrics, to the beautiful scenery, to the walk off home run at the end with fireworks to boot. THIS is what got me at least open to baseball as a sport to follow. MLB, you REALLY need to do more things like this more often.

It was. I was sitting there thinking, "I know they're gonna come out from the corn." but even still, it was so well done, they really did look like the ghosts of baseball past emerging. It was beautifully done.

First time in a long time that we as a country can watch this and feel truly united, all because of the love of baseball. This is more than a game.. it embodies all that is good about our country, and our people. What a great wholesome moment for us. God knows I have missed this feeling... "This field, this game, its a part of our past Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again."

As a Canadian and as an NHL fan, we've had the privilege of watching our favourite players and teams play in the Heritage and Winter Classic games for the last 20 years in an outdoor hockey rink surrounded by fans, young and old. It's great to see the MLB take this idea into the field and show the world what the game means to them. Truly an amazing moment in sports history. 👏 They should bring James Earl Jones (aka Terence Mann) to the next one.

This movie, for whatever reason, has stayed with me the most. I have worn out the VCR cassette and two DVDs over the years. I love to feel the nostalgia of a time before I was born. The memories I do have as a child of sitting in the old Packard in the driveway. The neighbors listening to MLB blaring on the radio with the grill in the backyard. The boys tossing the ball around and the dads shootin the breeze as they used to say. Oh, how I wish kids today could grow up like that. There was no bad in the world because we were not exposed to it. It WAS Heaven.

MLB hits a bottom of the ninth and two outs grand slam with this. I was 25 when I saw this movie in the theater. Like many young men that age and at that time I believed showing emotion and crying was not what men do. But I will freely admit when Costner delivered the line, "Hey Dad, you wanna have a catch?" I lost it. Waterworks flowed. I never made it in baseball but I've been coaching fastpitch softball for years and I think about this film every time I step on the field. I just hope the game becomes as big a part of these players lives as portrayed in Field of Dreams.

Did he say "dad you want to play catch?" last night (in this clip) or are you referring to the actual quote from the movie?? I just missed the beginning of the game last night. Why I'm here now. Started watching in the 3rd inning. But what a helluva game!!!
