@@TheVCRTimeMachine home runs do involve jogging around the bases. Sometimes a lot of runs are scored by home runs, doesn't bother me, seeing that I am a baseball fan.

This game reignited something special about baseball in the American consciousness. Something fundamental about our culture and our shared national game. A throwback to a simpler time, in a smaller venue, on a beautiful midsummer night in rural America. Millions of people shared an experience that was wholesome and unifying. For a brief moment we rediscovered what makes this game so special... a nostalgia and a shared heritage that runs far deeper and older than any other sport. Thank you MLB.

Rural, Midwestern America is the bomb. I love being able to live in it and experience it. I know a lot of people label the Midwest as “flyover” but that takes away from everything it offers, especially to the people who live on the coasts.

Not a fan of any teams but what a game this was. Loved the aesthetics and the walk off win. I hope Sandlot is up next 😂

If you watched the pre game. Kevin Costner said his friend who’s an architect built and designed the entire stadium. He had a non disclosure agreement with MLB. Costner just found out a few months ago, His buddy built it.

Agreed entirely except for the part about 2 of the brightest teams, Yankees aren’t anywhere near the Tier 1 of brightest teams. That’s Dodgers, White Sox, Giants, Rays, and Houston. Yankees are no where near any of those teams

As a White Sox fan, this is my favorite game of all time. Baseball needed this; my kids were so excited when Anderson hit that walk-off. What a beautiful night!

I think as time goes on, this game will be one of the most historical games of all time. It almost feels like our White Sox saved baseball. We will have to wait and see. This is my favorite game because my kids were around for this one. What a special game, but let's win another World Series!

They need to keep this Field in the rotation of games. With the throwback unis, this was fire. Keep this a regular event @MLB

Sorry my grandmother didn't live to see this. She watched the Brooklyn Dodgers play as a child and later became a Yankees and then Braves fan after moving to Georgia after her stint in the Marine corps during WW2. This was our favorite movie to watch together. I really miss my Marine Sargeant grandmother. She was a hoot.

This was one of the best games I have seen in my 60 years on this planet. It wasn't just the game but it was just beautiful to look at. That sky at twilight was just magnificent.

MLB couldn't have scripted a perfect game. Yankees vs White Sox was a spectacularly excited game for Field of Dreams Day. I hope MLB continues to do more events like this.

It honestly was a best case scenario. Two top teams, a lot of offense, and a thrilling finish. The homeruns grabbed casual fans attention while the setting got everyone else. Glad it wasn't a dud.

I would watch games on a field like that all year long, not kidding or just saying that either. There's something more appealing seeing more land, corn fields, and less modernized construction. I know MLB would disagree due to less fan capacity, but watching that pitch black dark sky against those crops with the big lights illuminating the small stadium creates an ambiance that wreaks of purity and innocence.

This is the magic of baseball. So much history, tradition. There’s a cadence to this game, a rhythm, that only baseball fans could love. Baseball inspired this movie, and this movie inspired this moment. This is about fathers playing catch with their children, and childrens’ dreams coming true. It was perfect. It was heaven. Haven't watched an entire nine inning regular season game in decades, but I couldn't miss this one. Magical night of baseball, it took me all the way back to little league 50 years ago.

As a Yankee fan I didn't like the final result so it took me a couple of days to watch this video but this was a HUGE SUCCESS for Major League Baseball. It got very high ratings and the game really was a classic. I hear they will do it next year too.

Thought this was dumb at first but when you see the players walk out of the corn field and the old-school wooden scoreboard you just gotta' love it. And what a game!!

I don't think I have ever teared-up watching highlights for 2 teams that I don't care about.

Finally MLB decided to do something that was actually a huge success

This was a massive failure, even though my team won.

One of the best games I have ever seen in my life.

Has to be the best game I've ever watched. Couldn't have been written any better. Go Sox!

I was rooting for the Yankees but i wasn't disappointed at all. Talk about a Hollywood ending!! Great night for baseball fans.

This was such a absolutely brilliant idea. Now I’ve gotta watch the movie all over again.

Best possible advertisement for MLB and the game of baseball ⚾️ Perfect location and great game with a thrilling 9th inning. It can’t get any better than this. I hope MLB and the commissioner keep up playing one game per year in the 🌽 fields of Iowa with one of the classic teams.

What a GREAT idea! Field of Dreams is my all-time favorite movie, and the sight of those guys coming onto the field through the corn gave me goosebumps! Hats off to whoever thought of that!

Watching the players walk out of the cornfield really did look like ghost from the past appearing suddenly in the outfield. Gave me goosebumps. Whoever thought of this deserves a big raise.

thank you also to FOX tv for televising it FREE nationwide/other countries plus the LIGHTING COMPANY and drone for what we got to see. there are many more BEHIND the scenes folks involved in making this a reality including: iowa state highway patrol, county sheriff/police officers directing traffic, etc. thank you ALL in whatever capacity you served in for the last 2 years designing and building the field making it a finished game to play on and in! god bless you all. betty gordon, ames, iowa proud fan

Chilling intro, Incredible game. More of this MLB. Give us some Sandlot games while you're at it.

That opening was actually pretty awesome. MLB keeps looking for ways to “improve” the game. IMO more stadiums like this would be awesome. More games around America in small towns. Not everyone can get to a city to see a game. I go to my local Blue claws games here in NJ. A cool little stadium in Lakewood NJ. Just right down the road. And the games are always a blast and such a community feel to them. Love this game

I agree! How cool would it be to see MLB taking over a farming community in the Midwest as they play a game on a town team field! They did this now in Dyersville and have done it for the LLWS...begin a tradition!

The one thing I would include even tho it’s probably really “corny” is when a team has to make a substitution or a pitching change, the player being taken out has to leave the field by walking back into the cornfield.

That has nothing to do with the downfall of the game. The reason why ratings are in the toilet is the "home run or strikeout" mentality of batters. NEITHER of those creates any lasting excitement for fans. Strikeouts are 100% boring, and home runs create excitement for a few seconds and then suddenly, the bases are empty and it is back to striking out again.

Getting tickets for this was next to impossible. And those who did, a lot resold them for ridiculous amounts, which takes the shine of it a bit. The whole thing was fantastic though. How MLB presented it, the field, Costner, and of course an incredible game. Watching it on TV was an honour.

@@KnickKnack07 I think that’s why they banned the sticky stuff. Just all those strike outs and no hitters. I agree bud. The huge strike out rates are frustrating to watch

That game was the magic of Iowa 🌽 !!! Every player had the enthusiasm of a little leaguer and brought back the energy we’ve craved as fans ... just to see them play pure ball was amazing!!!

Same, and i especially loves the uniforms. The White Sox are a historic team that predates the Yankees. We're were one of the top 3 most popular team alongside the Giants and Red Sox. This game just brought back nostalgia, pride, history, and emotions

Tim Anderson is such a clutch hitter and really underrated overall. Love watching that dude play

I'm a Sox fan, and this was two powerhouse teams going toe to toe. And I'm glad it was the Yankees.

I meant to watch this game, but got called in to work. I pulled it up on my computer, but things came up. Tonight, a month later I watched it. WHAT A SPECIAL GAME! My God! Do it AGAIN Baseball! I had CHILLS!!!

Finally something trending that doesn't make me want to throw up.

Hope this field of dreams game becomes a yearly tradition

That was the best game I have ever seen.

As a yanks fan even though we lost, this is one of my favorite games of all time. Such a cool vibe to it and miss Gardy.

I know next to nothing about baseball but my god I love this so much.

What a cool change of scenery! MLB should definitely do more of this.

They should and MLB should make it mandatory for every team that gets a chance to play in this field to wear old uniforms of that time period like the Sox and Yankees did.

MLB need to do this at least biannually.. Like how NHL has Winter Classic, Stadium Series, and Heritage Classic.. MLB need to have the special game like this too

I was an extra in the movie and my good friend Dan Kennedy was 1 of the baseball players coming out of the cornfield... just so many memories of that day just came flooding back... Thanks MLB...

Tim Anderson is a great player so good and consistent.

Tim Anderson...what a clutch guy!!! He is a gem. This is from a TWINS fan respecting a division rival like Chicago. What a game. You could not have scripted it any better.

Intro is a MASTERPIECE! I will bet they win an Emmy for this piece of baseball history. Truly ICONIC!

As a Red Sox fan I cannot deny that this was a legendary game between two great teams. "Field of Dreams" MLB make this annual game. Awesome!!
