Right around 3:20 ish you can hear his voice shaking and his face getting extremely red. He lost a really good friend that traveled the entire world with him for years upon years. It’s safe to say Kerry and Jeff we’re brothers and the loss was completely unexpected, but they’re an awesome iconic duo to see and will forever stand the test of time.

Imagine how tough it had to be for Kerry. Your dear friend and band mate just died when no one expected it, and you have to go to Golden Gods. He was in a no-win situation. Like he said, if he went there and dragged everyone down with such crappy news, people would have ripped him to shreds. He actually DOES what Jeff would have wanted and puts on a happy face and was pumped and excited, despite the pain he was feeling, and people crapped on him for THAT. It sucks.

I was 16 yrs old in 1984. I heard “Die By The Sword” on a college radio station and I was absolutely captivated. It was the very thing I was looking for that all the other metal bands lacked at the time. The intensity, Tom Arraya’s vocals, the riffs, everything. I went out and bought “Show No Mercy” LP the next day. When I saw Jeff with the upside down cross on the back cover and the 6 (Side One) 66 (Side Two) I was fucking elated. It was too hardcore for normal metal heads which I loved because I hated a lot of them anyway. The birth of thrash metal was for the true misfits. You could wear a Slayer or Venom t-shirt on the bus and get stares from people. R.I.P. Jeff Hanneman.

To me Show No Mercy is their own version of NWOBHM, and bit less thrashy actually. Sounded a lot like Venom. Haunting The Chapel onwards felt more like the transition to fully establishing who they are. Don't get me wrong I love Show No Mercy, but I think it's fair to say they were still finding their sound.

I obviously don't know Kerry but there is a truth to what others have stated. He proves here that he turns everything into "lets also talk about me & how great I am". You cant deny it happens here. There are loads of musicians you'll find on youtube talking about others who have left this world who just talk about the subject matter & don't turn it into anything else. Look up Kerry King on Dio after he died - same thing happens! Not to say he isn't emotional, he's still human. You never saw James Hetfield sounding as cut up about Cliff as Lars or Kirk have in interviews but people are just made different

  • @jacobingle4023

I remember people giving Kerry shit for not showing enough emotion over Jeff's death at the Golden gods awards, and I thought then, and still do to this day that It was the most dumbest thing I've ever heard people bitching about the man. Boo fuckin hoo he didn't cry for Jeff. People process, and handles shit differently when someone they've known for years passes away. Not everyone just breaks down, and get emotional over someone's death. Everybody's different, and they think different, and handle shit differently, and just bc someone doesn't get all teary eyed over someone close to em passing away doesn't mean they don't/never gave a shit about that person. R.I.P Jeff hanneman.

No, he wears them all the time and adjusts them 6 times in 3 1/2 minutes. You could make a drinking game out of it.

Jesus fuck, tell me about it! Started watching Slayer interviews in the last two weeks to get to know them more on a personal level before their show here (July 2, wish me luck xD), and you are spot on with your comment. The constant adjusting is bith hilarious and painful to watch.

Hey, Kerry. Remember that time you went backstage at a Ministry concert, ate Al's food, drank his beer and said Ministry sucks? That they'll never be Ministry? Kind of like how you'll never be as good as Jeff, huh?

Kerry King is the Glenn Tipton of Slayer? Oh please, he’s more like the KK Downing of Slayer because both the guitarists’ initials are KK, and they both play with a Flying V shaped guitar. Jeff is the Glenn Tipton of Slayer because they both are the main songwriters of their own bands, and are the most melodic soloists. The only thing that makes Kerry King the Glenn Tipton of Slayer is that they both have brown hair and play on the left side of the stage (or well, when Kerry used to have hair on his head). Jeff and KK are similar because they each have blond hair and play on the right hand stage. What a twat! But anyways, RIP Jeff

Who knows, Jeff might still be alive today if they didn't kick him out the band, probably drank himself to death as he was no longer part of Slayer all thanks to Kerry saying he wasn't up to scratch, since when has Kerry been up to fucking scratch? Jeff wrote all their best songs! no kidding when you see Slayer play live about 85% of the songs you hear are what Jeff wrote! Yep about 85% of the songs they play are Jeff's and Kerry said you're not up to scratch, R.I.P Jeff...and Slayer.
