In fairness to Walmart hardtails, frames are built like $500-2000 bikeshop bikes, except being stuck with qr and sometimes odd geos. That's what makes these vids great, you know the frame isn't a weak link. But you're right, Hope are not budget. UK built and super adaptable(futureproof) add to the value?

Last December I put a Continental Trail King on the rear of the Axum and a Continental Cross King on the front. I used automotive Slime, 120ml per tire, for the sealant. The first night the tires lost 20 psi but held air after refilling. Came back to Las Vegas in April, topped off the tires with 30ml of Slime, and rode about 50-60 miles. The air held without any flats. Heading back to Las Vegas in November.

WOW man you have to ride it now with the MULLET hair!! From my RC's I use a Dremel moto tool with a cut off wheel and cut a slot across the stripped screws then you can use a screw driver to take out the screws..O always wear safety glasses when doing what you did! Can't wait to see you ride it...Of course with the mullet hair that is! LOL!!!

The bike is looking much better now. Proper fork, wheels. it needs a dropper post, and proper brakes. but what you did is a huge upgrade already. those Hope wheels will last for many builds. A fork with a damper, and hubs with decent engagement.

Great video again guys, thank you! I really hope you do another your budget fork video's also. I saw Himalo has some new updated 34 and 36mm forks with 160mm travel. And also one with 36mm stanchions with 140mm travel.. Those forks i would be really interested to see you putting them to the test. Especially the 34mm 160mm with the upgraded design/structure looks promising to me. Would be interesting to see if one of them would be a nice upgrade for my Marin Bobcat 3 that i bought for 599€ on sale, and that i'm going to start upgrading hopefully through the coming winter. But you do you and i'm still gonna watch..

yea somtimes its good to spray Alcohol on the bolts to let it clean out any grime. I once had striped out bolts stuck onto the hub but once I sprayed them, they came out. Obviously with a lot of force tho 😆.

Love that you mx'd the wheels, but I gotta say you missed a great op to use a -2 angled headset. Give one a shot to slacken things a bit more. However you may want 165 cranks if you do use the angled headset to help with pedal strikes. Mullet + Angled Headset + the Fork should give you an approx 66 or 65 HTA which is a sweet spot for the kind of riding you mostly do. Might help keep Tick out of the trees when landing those big air sends on Cats Meow. Can't wait to take in a view of this bike on the ground and see a ride test and review !

Use a dremal with a tiny cutting wheel put a stright cut thru the middle of the bolt and use a flat head screw driver

I have the same fork on my bike, and with this fork is possible to change the travel, i change from 130mm to 150mm, only remove the travel reduce spacer into the air spring 🤟

You can try JGBike hubs. I built up 2 wheelsets with them, they sound sweet and can swap QR to thru axle as well.

Thanks brother, Wolfman does not like a lot of stuff! Lol Now we have not been interested in riding up there, the reason being we love our trails and love to represent the people and employees at the trails who treat us so well. Bentonville is about 3 hours away, mt nebo is 45 min 👍👍👍

Not to pick the fly shit out of the peppers, but that rear wheel has a lot of resistance. When you spun the pedals, that wheel should have continued to spin much more than it did. Either the brake is rubbing or something is wrong with the axle setup. I doubt that pawls on Hope hubs offer that much resistance.

I'll say that new sealed bearings on the hubs run very smooth, but are tight so may break in after a couple rides. Couldn't confirm what brand was used when they were rebuilt

DUDE!! I totally was kicking myself!!

I just picked up a Trevaille from a friend who wasn't using it. It's a 2023 and looks new, new. I'm ouffitting it for bikepacking. The only thing it needed were some new grips and the derailleur won't adjust to let me get all 9 gears. I can have 8 either way, up or down but not 9. Just curious if you used the stock derailleur and how much do you think that you have in the mods? I'm not really a bike guy...I mean, not a professional. I just enjoy tinkering with them and I am trying to get into touring and camping because we've got some excellent trails here.

Do u need to get a new headset if you are going to change the fork or can I just get the crown race?? and what crown race size crown race would work for a tapered head tube??

In firefox I things are messed up on youtube now, so after I click on the video, and watch video, the thumbnail shows up zoomed in, so what grabs attention is MULL, which means garbage in German😀then annoying ads start. for some reason anti doping ads showed up. but the ads that show up are really annoying and unrelated, so I usually always use adblocker, even my videos get ads now, and it's grazy, at almost every vid I watch there iss an silly ad. Only Chromium browsers work with ad blockers now. not just that if you can't skip it in time another plays, and you can't skip it. so if it's not for the title orr double checking I don't know if I clicked on the right video sometimes, as the thumbnail does not always show up, or I am looking away, and then ad starts. Bad move by youtube. but at least I can use chrtome and alike now, but they don't have color managment, like Firefox do, so in Firefox I use a color profile adjusted to the ambient light in my room. so content only look right in firefox. maybe there are other browsers, but shame, I use it for photography and video, but chrome it is for youtube.

6:00 the fork needs a rebuild, it is a greasy mess, and seals seem to be worn out, as they stanchions are very dirty. I don't know who makes the seals, but they were trash in the past. but SKS, RacingBros seals are great.

Those things will last till your newborn is big enough to ride a 29er. My hope pro evo 2 hubs are about 15 years old and only greased once with the same sealed bearings from when it was made.

Having a “specialized spec” RS fork also does not make up for riding skill. The Tick could probably outride most people out there on a ridgid fork!
