Honestly i'm curious because most counterfeit brakes are fairly terrible, they probably would also be better off using a set of Avid rotors that Will work better than thoose, the last set of counterfeit rotores i had was garbage and had no bite towards the pads, neither before or after bedding them

Juin Tech makes a great cable activated hydraulic brake, a little cleaner looking than the TRPs. But TRP and others make a dual pull cable brake that has a yoke to move the pads from both sides. They are all improvements over the standard cable discs. But as always, Tick looks fabulous!

Those breaks are sick! I love the look, they make me think of hope breaks. Very old school DH looking! Also reguarding the internal routing on both bikes. From a technician perspective I like em both, and they look very simple to route and maintain. The Acension is the winner for me being that big opening is MUCH easier to route the Trouvaille's smaller hole. The trouvaille would be a tighter fit there fore quiter but since they are entry hard tails so they it's not a bug deal in the end.

5:43 Technically this one is stronger, if the cut in the down tube is well done, but keep in mind weird shapes and sharp cuts can be stress raisers, which can cause failure, but a routing hole like this is not likely to do that, but I am not an expert so can't say for sure. But you were to put an powerdrill to a frame to make internal routing and did it badly you could cause a failure, but here it's a end of a tu, and big area is welded and is more material there. Keep in mind these bikes are xc bikes, they are likely using the softer, weaker 6061 T6 alu, tubing is very thin too.my bike is a enduro bike, it uses Downhill rated tubing, much thicker and stronger alu too. but it's of course heavier, but it's built for a different purpose. But I love that Geometron G1 has all external routing apart from dropper post, it goes into the down tube and goes up into the seat tube, does not go out of the seat tube at all, very well done.

I've had these brakes for almost a year now and I must say their stopping power is immense. The lever blades hold well with one and two fingers. The drawbacks: 1. The pistons get sticky very quickly and do actuate evenly, even if you thoroughly clean them, degrease and lubricate with a bit of brake oil. Also, cleaning the pistons is tricky because it's fiddly to block three pistons and have just one exposed at a time for cleaning.

I looked into those III Pro brakes and saw that they use the Shimano BH59 barb which means they use the BH59 brake hose which is used on the lower end Shimano brakes like the MT 200, etc... The higher end Shimano brakes use the BH90 hose which is stiffer and has a smaller internal diameter for fluid flow. I am willing to bet that these brakes will not reach their full potential with the hose that comes with them. It would be an interesting experiment to swap the hoses and see if they inprove and if so, how much.

I'm running with Magura HS Trail sports - 4 pots in the front, 2 in the back - they aren't cable actuated, though, but swapping levers is a feature for almost all if not all Magura Disk brakes. They actuate a rod which actuates the hydraulic system in the lever. I got them in a deep sale + a scratch refund for 99€, btw, but the normal price is usually around 170-180€ as well. Braking power is a massive improvement over the original MT-200 on the bike - Magura Pads take a long time to bed in, though. 30 times slowly to full stop for each brake and they aren't kidding with that.

I really like the design of those levers, very clean. My new emtb came with sram db8 brakes, probably the ugliest levers ever designed. Typically cable actuated hydraulic brakes are used on slopestyle and dirt jumpers that are running a gyro. The internal routing on my Trek Roscoe is almost identical to the ascension and trouvaille.

3:42 You should change the position of the skewer lever, so you can easily get the palm of your hand behind it, it's very badly placed now. place it at the same angle as the caliper and the frame tube is, up or down, or let it point back instead.

About internal cable routing IMHO there is not one that is good or better, is just cosmetics and a way to fill your bike with water. External routing makes repairs simple and less messy in case you are replacing brake lines. but that is my 2 cents.

Mechanical brakes suffer from cable stretch, and cable housing compression, which can make them feel spongy. Quality housing and cable will minimize this. They can be bullet proof, and cheap. TRP makes some really nice mid tier mechanical brakes. Hardtail Party really likes the top end Paul Clampers. They are super expensive though.

I've got a set of TRP Spyke on my 1994 Cannondale Delta V 600 that I modified to put disc brakes on and they are pretty decent. My only issue with them is the angle the cable exits doesn't work the best with the mount I used on the rear brake. Other than that, zero issues.

Those pads are the same as the finned Shimano XT, Saint, Zees. Resin ones are H03A-RF and the metal version is HO3C-MF. I can't tell from the video for sure but it kinda looks like the metal pad. A search for those on Shimano website will bring up a picture you can compare to your pad material and tell for sure which pad you have.

I have these brakes and they're actually Hope pads. Shimano 4-pot pads are very similar, but just a tad larger. They might be cross compatible, but I suspect that the Shimano pads are just a hair too big to fit in this caliper. I have both pad types lying around, so I will try it out next time I'm working on my bike.

0:12 So you don't have the expensive Park Tool magnetic internal routing kit? I have the first version with 3, but there is a second version with 4 tools. But I don't need it, but at least I have it to work on friend's bikes. Butt so far none them have that. The tool makes it easy, of course some frames have very bad routing. some do it well. But the Trek Fuel EX I had was horrible, but I managed to get it done. But that bike was so bad, maybe it was designed to be that bad, problematic to work on.😀 Lets make it pressfit BB92 so you can only really use Shimano cranks, or bearings balls will be tiny, routing with many bends, going in and out, wearing the housing faster, making it rub., yea lets make the rocker link crack, and make the bike sway. I am glad I have a proper bike now. That bike was an perfect example of how a pricier bike can be worse, and be bad value, so always research.
