I just got a GT Aggressor Pro on sale, I’ve only ridden it twice so far and I stripped one of the pedals off (6ft 225lb and I got a size L) luckily I had a spare set and they’ve been doing great. I found you guys awhile back and all your videos on the Aggressor helped me to pull the trigger. Overall I love it, thank you guys for doing what you do!

I too pulled the trigger on the GT Aggressor Pro partially because of this channel, but this was 2 years ago. Looking back, I wish I'd gone with another budget bike (for similar reasons as The Wolf cited).

I love the Axum DP. I had both the Axum DP and GT Aggressor Pro. Recently, I gave the GT Aggressor Pro to my son in law. Had to keep the Axum DP. That dropper post makes it easy for old guys like me to get on and off the bike. My daughter has the Trouvaille and likes it. I recently did some upgrades for her, pedals, air fork, stem. Great bike. All of these are good and as Wolfman said, very upgradable, but my top pick would have been the Axum DP also.

I've owned 5 Aggressor Pros and all of them have held up well. Through my experience of buying and fixing these bikes, all of them have been good even if the owner beats the crap out of it. Not worth more than $450, but still a great bike for pretty much any beginner or casual rider.

I think the Axum is altogether the best value budget bike. Out of the box it's pretty good and the ability to upgrade is near unlimited. Hell, it's even boost QR in the rear and there are no budget bikes that are thru-axle in the rear. I care very little about internal cable routing (other than a dropper post), but geometry is key and that 67 degree HTA on the Axum is damn respectable.

Guys, WOLFTICK Videos, you guys are truly awesome, what i love is the gods honest rider backed facts, love the FACT that neither of you are blown away by "Brands" too many people get what i call shiny syndrome when they see a Brand name they ignore whatever negatives there are and can only see the positives, you guys on the other hand treat everything out of the box the same and give your honest opinions ..... THEN you tear it down, customise your bikes, mostly on a realistic budget, and re-avaluate the bike as its modified or upgraded showing a bikes potential ....... for me THIS single thing is so so important. many many people around the world (I grew up in a very poor area in Liverpool, so never had much money) and to see what you guys just shows what you can do on a budget, transforming a cheap bike into a decent trail hardtail. Well done guys, Above that your video are not just informative they are entertaining, with the greatest farther and son team out there but they are just such fun to watch please keep this going guys well done.

That was a really good episode, really enjoyed watching that. Great break down of points, features, riding impressions, it was a good watch. I had a 2012 GT Aggressor sport, and loved that bike, it was a small, so fit me great, I am 5'6" and the frame itself was very stiff, no flex. Yeah the fork was very noodley, and clunked, but for $100 I got a rock shocks judy, and bob's your uncle after that.

Downfall of the Trouvaille is lack of dropper post options. Brakes are an easy upgrade and even cheap hydraulics are a huge improvement. Downfall of Axum DP is that terrible 50 lb fork. Upgrading a fork is never cheap. I own both and have upgraded the heck out of them. If I had to do it over, I’d prefer the Axum in a M and Trouvaille in a L. Neither of those frame sizes were available when I purchased though. Love the channel!

I love Walmart bikes so much! I had been thinking about a new bike for a few weeks and had no intention of buying a Walmart bike. I wanted to spend big and go to my bike shop but I was walking through Walmart and I saw a Schwinn Axum dp in a box and it had a clearance sticker on it for $124! Only Walmart! I guess someone ordered it and then changed their mind and I guess nobody else wanted a disassembled bike in a box but I am so excited.

Thanks for your videos and effort to help others choose wisely! I'm lower income, so I really appreciate the lower priced bikes, and your reviews of them. Before I spend more than $100 on anything, I try to do the research, so I get the right product for me, the first time, if possible. I like the aggressive look of mountain bikes, though, so far, I only ride on the streets and sidewalks. - But there is a bike trail in my neighborhood, so I want to have the right type of bike, in case my riding changes from the street to the woods. - You really fly down the bike paths - but I'm older now, and have slowed down from my younger days, to avoid injuries. - That's why I don't like riding on rocks, or too close to trees. I like smooth, downhill dirt paths, where you don't have to pedal too much. - Of course, if you go down a hill, it probably means you have to ride or walk back up.

19:37 You will love how a proper trail bike, enduro bike will ride. It will be better in the long run, proper linkage design, smooth running bearings, beefy frame, dropper post, internally routed, and proper seat tube diameter30.09 and 31.6 are the common ones now, long dropper post insertion depth. Not sure if they still do but Specialized insisted on 34.9 seat post diameter, which barely any brands did. And if you get the right bike even no kink in seat tube so really deep insertion depth.

nice shootout... I don't like the mongoose ledge it has so much pedal bob it absorbs all your input that's the fault of it and also you can't get any parts at all from mongoose for any of the bikes they sell so that's a big downside for all mongoose bikes for sure.

Only difference between Axum and Axum DP is the colors and the seat post. Standard Axum has the same internal cable routing and probably a better value if you’re upgrading components- the factory dropper isn’t amazing. IMO the black/gold flake finish of the standard Axum is the best finish. (lol I own one)

12:51 That GT was a mistake, but they save material and cost by having a smaller head tube I guess. But can't be upgraded with a tapered fork, which sucks great point. This seems to be a rare sight now, but probably more of a commuter bike thing these days if even that. 44mm is common on steel frames, but now alloy frames usually have tapered head tube. but with steel frame brands I've seen both. Now with alloy only low budget frames have straight steerer. The point of a tapered head tube is to handle the extreme loads better.

Question. Which would you prefer, the Axum DP, GT Agressor, or Mongoose Ardor? I have the GT for myself, but looking at the Ardor or Axum for my son who is 11 and 5’3. I know you have GT size small, how does it compare to the Axum or Ardor size wise? I’m 5’9 and the medium GT is great, but a little too big for my 11yr old. I enjoy upgrading as well (thanks to you guys) so out of the box isn’t a huge priority. Keep up the great work guys!!!

Ardor allday. The axum has a huge wheelbase and is hard to handle at times. Gt has a taller standover then the Ardor, plus the Ardor has better geometry. #ARDORALLDAY

Yep, it's been a while. Our time is kind of at a premium right now, and putting together a Viewers Rides is very time-consuming. We will definitely be trying to get one out once we catch up from surgery and our run-in with the deer. Sorry it's been so long.

To sum it up all cheap bikes performed as expected. At least for me. Any plans on more international brands? As the Wallmart bikes are not bikes you can get internationally. They don't ship internationally. So it's nice to see you are reviewing some of those, GT, Polygon, but curious if there will be more. Hopefully you get to test more. But I actually saw some Schwinn bikes in Norway years ago, seen some secondhand ads online too. but quite old bikes, some might be from ppl from us living here I guess. But seen same thing with Calibre bikes from UK, which are UK only brand, they are a budget brand, I heard Polygon actually manufactures their bikes. so the Full suspension Polygon you might have seen have the same suspension system, some models were almost the same as Calibre.

This was a great video. I’m looking for an answer. Kent or ozark trail bike for riding and upgrading in the future? What you you choose? I’m looking at both. Or wait and buy maybe a diamond back syncR?

Thanks for the content. I got an Axum dp after seeing it on your channel. Great bike but the bucklos forks I bought 120 with taper suck, big deflection when I brake or stand up riding. Looking for new forks because the front tire hits the left fork.

I had a 120mm suntour xcm coil and it was significantly smoother than the bucklos air. If I were going to build another one, I'm going straight to a suntour epixon or a fox 34

Hey guys I watch ya’ll everyday, haven’t seen all your videos but a good amount , i got a decathlon rock rider 26in originally $348.00 i got it just after Xmas for $138.00 out the door. I cant hit the trails its just to get me around town. But i havn’t found anyone on you tube that has done any kind of review or recommendations for it.funny thing is when I took all the stickers of the bike i took one off the forks and it says “ Do not use for free ride or down hill dirt jumps for leisure / cross country use only”! 😂 I’m not looking to put a lot of money into it but I’m having trouble finding any information on it , even just spec’s on torque? So if you have anything or anyone in or around Houston Texas i can contact id appreciate it. And when i can I’ll buy ya’ll a cup or 2 of coffee. Thanks sincerely Steve Loriot

I've got the E11even M1x11, which is a great bike for $500. Hydraulic brakes, 1x11 drivetrain, air fork, and 29" tires on something that comes in 3 different frame sizes. I bought it after seeing your video on it. Do you still have the one you reviewed?

I don't get why manufactures do the 27.2 seat tube. I've seen it on some carbon XC frames. Butt it's mostly gone now. But for some reason some brands insist on having it on their budget frames weird. Just make one decent frame with good geo, all right standards, low top tube, great standover, tapered head tube. Then have different components cheapest bike with parts allowing you to ride and upgrade, where you mostly pay for the frame and parts are cheap, get you going and then you can upgrade, then entry level decent build, and mid range build, and pricy build, maybe some between. But I am not a fan of having different frame in same model range. Marin does that with their San Quintin, one model with skewer instead of 12x248 tru axle weird, frame is different ALU, too, that's fine, but they did a mistake IMO. I see Dartmoor offers a dirt jump frame and bike option at a budget with skewer, but what that allows you to do is to replace a old school frame with that one keeping the parts and the frame is cheap. But that frame has a different name. But skewer drop out does not mean a frame is horrible. but it's nice to have more modern frame, but still can shred on old school style tech.

I need some feedback please. I just ordered the GT Aggressor Pro and it should get here tomorrow for $300, I found out Costco has the Northrock XC27 on sale for the same price $300 plus they basically have an unlimited warranty and I like the look of it more. If you compare bot bikes, which one is the better bike overall? Thank you in advanced!

Any clue why I can't find a 21-in version of the Axum DP anywhere? It clearly comes in that size according to their sizing chart yet I can't find it anywhere. I'm 6'3" and don't want to get the 19-in and it be too small. EDIT: Turns out a 21-in version doesn't actually exist. It was just their standard sizing chart in the actual product image. I was able to get the GT Aggressor Pro for only $399 at Dicks, however they are still assembling it and I plan to return it since I was able to get the Schwinn Axum DP in a 19-in version (Red) for $448 from Walmart. For the $50 difference and getting a Dropper Post, 2.6in Tires and 29in wheels, I'm good with paying that. Did I make a good decision?
