Very few male singers can be considered 'a man's man type of singer'. Neil Diamond, Bruce Springsteen and Kenny Rogers are the only three that spring to mind. Good old Kenny Rogers is a class act with a cracking voice, that sounds both smooth and velvety and also rough as old boots. One of the great musicians, for sure. Chris (UK).

In a bar in Toledo Across from the depot On a bar stool she took off her ring I thought I'd get closer So I walked on over I sat down and asked her name When the drinks finally hit her She said I'm no quitter But I finally quit livin' on dreams I'm hungry for laughter And here ever after I'm after whatever the other life brings In the mirror I saw him And I closely watched him I thought how he looked out of place He came to the woman Who sat there beside me He had a strange look on his face The big hands were calloused He looked like a mountain For a minute I thought I was dead But he started shakin' His big heart was breakin' He turned to the woman and said You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille With four hungry children And a crop in the field I've had some bad times Lived through some sad times But this time your hurtin' won't heal You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille After he left us I ordered more whisky I thought how she'd made him look small From the lights of the bar room To a rented hotel room We walked without talkin' at all She was a beauty But when she came to me She must have thought I'd lost my mind I could'nt hold her 'Cos the words that he told her Kept coming back time after time You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille With four hungry children And a crop in the field I've had some bad times Lived through some sad times But this time your hurtin' won't heal You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille

So cool music 🎵 as ever. I miss this Legend. Rest easy Kenny.
Talk beer-drinking or tear-jerking music and we're talking Kenny's Lucille. I know one broad who must've dropped four rolls of quarters into a jukebox to keep it playing, time after time, and at "Last Call," the barkeep had to jerk the plug to end it playing, so the crowd would drink up and haul ass. Great video, here, great, great song, and no other singer could ever do it as well as Kenny Rogers. R.I.P., Kenny. We love you.

Er hat mit seiner wunderbaren Stimme mein Leben positiv begleitet, Bravo:-))
I grew up in rural east Texas, and I remember as clear as if it were yesterday one day with my Granddad as we drove across the dam on the north end of Lake 'o the Pines. This song was playing and my Granddad was singing along. I just was looking around, at the lake, the woods, watching the drivers in passing cars. I had no complaints, no worries and was totally content- this song just soothing my soul. RIP Kenny.
