I bought my first "modern" washer designed to be safe and efficient that had a dongle on the lid that had to go down into the lid lock switch. Unfortunately, I bumped the dongle causing it to flip to one side and hence it did not go down into the switch and the machine could not run. I could not understand what was wrong despite reading the manual. The phone help center was useless and I returned the machine before the end of the free return date. I bought another one a year later with the same stupid feature and committed the same mistake but this time I noticed that the dongle was out of place. 99% of safety features are useless and a problem.

I have a few lidswitch connectors I cut from bad switches that connect to the connection you cut instead of cutting those wires. I connect the correct wires on the connections from the bad switches and just plug them into the connection at the backsplash. I do this for testing purposes. I never leave the switches bypassed.

I do it a similar way, but I cut the wires near the connector coming from the switch itself and wire them together and secure with wire nut. That way all I have to do is remove my test connection and put a new switch back in after testing. I may be looking at this wrong. You might be doing the same as I do. I keep a few pieces I wired together on hand so all I have to do is connect them to the connection under the panel.
