I wear mine to work 12hr shifts on concrete. Love my mountain extremes, they're the most comfortable boots I recall owning! All I've ever worn with them are Kenetrek socks, I bought 2 tubs of wax with them . I am a boot killer, most never last a full year, these were not much different, after about 14 months, I had worn through the outer heels, I continued to wear them until about 18 months before sending them in to be re-soled for $275. Since getting them back I've abstained from daily wear, I've just about worn out a $200 pair of Rocky special operators over the last year (but surprised the soles are hanging tough) I have no need for the insulated models in AL, I was up hiking on AL highest elevation; Mount Cheahaw, last week and they did pretty good on wet rock, albeit I wasn't carrying anything. I've been looking at buying a 2nd pair to dedicate to work, don't care for suede, so either the lineman or black hard tactical...

I just found my size on clearance at cabalas… can’t believe it. My danners are too heavy after 5 back surgeries so I’m looking forward to wearing these. What brand wax do you recommend? Thx *And should I wax them first or wear them a bit? They’re Mtn extreme ni.

@@2K9s I just buy the Kenetrek boot wax, bought 2 tubs, I've only used about 1/2 of one in the last 2 years.

I’ve had these for 3 years. Mount Xtreme uninsulated. I mostly use these boots for Deer Hunting and predator hunting at night. Even in 17 below zero they were pretty warm with regular socks. Wool socks make my feet sweat pretty bad so it needs to be bone chilling cold before I’ll wear wool. It took about 50 miler to break these in. Treadmill walking works great to speed this up. After break in they are amazing. To me, they feel lightweight and offer more support than any other type of footwear that I’ve ever worn. I can literally walk in these things all day and all night when we’re predator hunting. Waterproofing is great my feet do not get wet. You do need to wax these boots at least once a year to keep the leather from drying out that also adds to the waterproofing Not cheap, but what is these days? Mine are three years old with a lot of miles and they look practically brand new.

Good review. I’ve been considering this brand with a different boot in mind. They make a hybrid fire boot now and it sounds like the quality is there from an overall quality standpoint. Mountain miles are the real test for sure. Glad they’ve been working out for you. Getting the boot sock thing figured out . Your feet are everything out there.

If you're hunting in 20F degrees or lower, you really need a pair of Non-insulated and and 400gr insulated . Theyre spendy but worth it

I just picked up the 400g version. I’m normally a 11.5 D but got the 12E to accommodate a thicker sock. They don’t make half sizes after 12, I would have preferred to go 12.5, I hope I don’t regret it.

Great review JG, I have been using Mountain Guides 400 and Desert Guide 7" (early elk season) and they are both amazing with Zero issues. I used them Elk hunting in Utah but curious if you have experimented using them late season whitetail stand hunting yet? Thanks

I have tried them late season whitetail stand hunting, but the 400g version isn't warm enough for me below 30 degrees. A pac boot is a much better option, in my opinion. I've worn them late season on spot and stalk hunts in single digits, and they keep my feet warm in that scenario.

Looks like a good boot, however when you weigh 270lbs. How long does the midsole last? My shoes/boots typically will get about a year or so then everything becomes compressed! For most manufacturers and even sooner for most of them.

I weigh 260-270. These boots are built really tough, especially the thick midsole. In my opinion, they are borderline too stiff, especially the first 30-50 miles. I usually change my insoles every 150 miles and that seems to help keep comfort longer.

Hi; I never used this brand but is growing on me lately so my doubt is of course the size; I mean; all my boots actually are bigger than what the size tag says; feel bigger and are bigger than the same size in sneakers etc. I assume that with these is the same scenario? I am asking due to is an online buy for me and that many many say that ordering 1 or 2 sizes bigger! but I really think that these people do not have normal shaped feet. Thanks

boots are little dry put some leather treatment on them plzzzzzzzzzzz :0 I luv my ken boots best boots for heavy packing Alaska . I never knew they wont work on a boot that has been treated with the wrong wax? Some bullsh!t sportsmans wearhouse will sell u a boot than wont tell u that the wrong wax voids the warranty nor do the have there boot treatment in stock!! So i use bear grease and beeswax for boot wax will they work on my boots:( I hunt on weathered bedrock my boots are tore up they makes your boots looks new. I guess sharp rocks are bad for boots:( I never have checked the boot(O)meter for mileage :O
