KEN BLOCK EXPLAINS HIS RALLY AMERICA CHAMPIONSHIP ENDING CRASH AT LSPR 2013
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
See how and why Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino's Rally America title chase came to an abrupt, and brutal, end back in October at their final event, the Lake Superior Performance Rally.
Due to two simple letters ("in") missing in his pace notes on one of the final stages of the event, Block and Gelsomino ended up cart wheeling down one of the final stages of the season, end over end, before coming to a stop against a tree. The missing "in" allowed Block to go slightly wide around a very safe looking corner where his rear wheel went into the weeds and got caught up on a small clump of dirt, sending the Ford Fiesta HFHV into the air. While the crash was violent, the pair were fortunate to walk away from the championship-ending incident with minimal injury.

Gelsomino's arm dangling out the window in slow-motion had me covering my eyeballz. Yikes. Glad everyone came out in one piece. Built Ford Tough.
Took a big ass crash and still started the car and tried to keep on going..... yeah I don't give a fuck what y'all say ken is a legend period!

I love how the paper goes straight out the window
I was laughing so hard when you tried to start the car back up and race again, and then when Gelsomino said he was thinking "Dude are you Serious" that just topped it off.
His liveries make the best crash pieces. Soo colourful.
Wow that was a big one Racing spirit and even after all of that tries to go Game on Ken

Lol at all the Ken Block haters. None of you could do even 1% of what he does. Period. Sitting at home making bad comments about this gentlemen does not make you look like a badass, it just shows how stupid and jealous you are. Read more about how Ken Block started and his whole race career. See how he was present since the beginning of some major rally events in the U.S. such as Rally America (2005). Read about the whole rally scene in the U.S. back in 2005 and how it has evolved till today. He didn't grow up in Finland or other parts of the world were the rally culture is present. It's easy to criticize someone, just make sure you do proper research before unleashing your comments online. Oh, and, by the way, he is a real rally driver.

Did you notice Alex's arm come up and hook onto yours in the roll?
So the lexan windows are just to keep debris out when running but not a safety item in a crash? Why are there no window nets or restraints to keep the occupants hands in the car in a rollover?
Nice!! But I was expecting for the external go pro footage. Maybe the go pros did not make it...
1.18 his book flew away Rip
This kind of reminds me of pastrana's wrx crash. Between both of them being chill about it to the crash itself
Happened literally 15 miles from where I live
WOW! Thankfully nothing worst happened. Reminds me of when I spun out in my SRT-4 doing about 135mph on to an on ramp then starting the car up to get back on the highway to find out that my driver side wheel was ripped off. Midnight and no one around. Stay safe everyone 🙏

Rally Racers a different breed. Loved this sport since I was a little kid. Glad Ken and Alex did alright.
crazy stuff!
Damn that was a hell of a crash. Glad Block and Gelsomino are ok.
RIP LEGEND
Has nobody noticed that you can see his new livery in the background?
The stages of this particular rally look really nice! It's a shame Block got caught, but in the end, to win a rally championship, you need to be as fast as consistent. To be 'The' fastest isn't enough...
so just incase someone missed it, Kens new livery is in the background when they are interviewing him. looks a lot simpler than the others.

💔
The first time today I went in a rzr and the driver rolled it thank god the roll cage
Can I meet you????
How the hell did he get her running after the crash?
When I saw it I though alexes arm fell off but when back in the car
Why dont they install roll cages in cars? I mean like as stock?
@DoubleMonoLR
Жыл бұрын
Because they would come with major compromises, including being much less comfortable, not to mention making it difficult to impossible for older or overweight people to even get in. You'd also need to be wearing a helmet and possibly harness to prevent being flung around and hitting your body on the rollcage, they'd reduce the effect of crumple zones, and presumably various other reasons. People that aren't impact injured in a normal car that rolls severely can still get serious injuries from the tumbling. Rally etc drivers are tightly strapped in, and wear a variety of safety gear. They're good for racing conditions, not nearly so good for normal driving conditions.
What's the fuss? Nothing abit of T-Cut couldn't buff out.
have anyone thought somekind of leashes to the co-driver hands so they dont go outside the car...much safer that way
Maybe some Window nets will keep the hands and arms inside the vehicle...just sayn
2:43 jajajajja priceless

Thank God for the Roll Cage
Why TF didn't they have a net in the window? Why?!
but if the details were missing from the sheet, isn't the fault from the company responsible for making the sheet? shouldn't the championship be cancelled then after discovering that the sheet is faulty?! i wonder..
Codriver is lucky to have his hand u see it dangle out the window as the car flips
He'd realised his victory was entirely lost and he'd just been in a seriously major crash, to still muster up the decency to say "hi" to someone who is not to blame is cool. Many pros in competition can be douches.
I'm surprised you didn't have arm restraints

Why don't the driver and co-driver wear arm restraints on their forearms? 5 point harness and restraints saved my life and my arms in a huge crash. Came out of it with only minor injuries.

gone but never forgotten
I’m really curious why Alex and Ken grab eachother’s arms like that. Was it just reactionary? Or is that something you’re taught to do during a crash?

I dont know if his co pilot is trying to grab his hand but i love it. great bond!
