Kelly Preston was born on October 13, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii. A talented and captivating performer, she first garnered international attention with her role as "Marnie Mason" in Ivan Reitman's Twins (1988), starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. With her diverse character portrayals in films, such as director Cameron Crowe's Jerry Maguire (1996); Citizen Ruth (1996) for Alexander Payne; and For Love of the Game (1999), directed by Sam Raimi, she continued to capture audience attention.
In the early part of her career, Kelly worked with notable director John Frankenheimer in the Elmore Leonard film, 52 Pick-Up (1986), alongside Roy Scheider and Ann-Margret. Her career saw her cast her beside some of Hollywood's most notable names, including Kevin Spacey in Casino Jack (2010); Quentin Tarantino, George Clooney, and Harvey Keitel in Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn (1996); Kevin Bacon in Death Sentence (2007); Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick in Addicted to Love (1997); Debra Winger, Zooey Deschanel, and Hank Azaria in Eulogy (2004); Mike Myers in The Cat in the Hat (2003); and Rod Steiger and Julie Harris in the Academy Award-nominated short, Little Surprises (1996).
Kelly was actively involved in education, drug reform and many charitable organizations. She was acknowledged with numerous awards as a result of her work. She married John Travolta on September 12, 1991, and they had three children.
Preston's son Jett Travolta was described as suffering from Kawasaki disease as an infant and had a history of seizures.
On January 2, 2009, Jett Travolta died while the family was vacationing in the Bahamas. His death was attributed to a seizure. In September 2009, Travolta and Preston confirmed longstanding speculations when they testified that their son had autism and suffered regular seizures. This transpired during their testimony at the trial resulting from an extortion attempt related to their son's death.
Kelly died on July 12, 2020, in Ocala, Florida, after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 57. She was cremated and her ashes are with her family.

John Travolta has endured so much heartache. He dated actress Diana Hyland back in the 70's. She died very much the same way that Kelly did. He always conducts himself with such grace and kindness. May all who died too soon rest in peace...😓

Such a great movie. My grandpa took me to see it in the theater when it came out. I was 12, and it was just a couple years after my dad passed away.
I'm in remission from breast cancer 🎀. Yes, they were scientology, they went by the rules of that place. What's soo sad is that Kelly didn't see doctors until her breast cancer was in stage 4! At that point she received chemo treatments and radiation. For all of the women out there, please 🙏 get your yearly mammogram, it could save your life, it did mine!

It's pronounced lee-murs. And yes Kirstie did also own the property next door. When Kelly got sick Kirstie was there providing love and support. In a podcast she said she had practically moved in with them to be there for Kelly and her family. They were more than friends; they were family. I don't know how John is making it through losing so many people.

Grief is awful. Between my husband and I, in the 14 years we have been together, we have lost 34 family members and 3 friends (28 of those were my husbands family members and just 6 mine)
I just saw her on a rerun of Celebrity Fear Factor. John came on towards the end to cheer her on. You could see how much they loved one another. John also matched the amount she won. All for charity. Beautiful couple.
Was everyone else as shook as badly as I was when this happened?!?! Broke my heart when Jet passed… but this was one of my dream girls when I was younger… John T. Is enigma and yes he’s weird with the Scientology but to each their own… John was in love with Kelly and he looks like he is depressed lately…

I was actually on that boat cruise that used to show where all the celebrities lived. Hulk Hogan is another one who had a place near there. I think Randy Savage did too. A lot of celebrities live in Clearwater. Quite frankly, because it is less populated and quieter than most other Florida communities. One of Kelly Preston’s best movies was with Martin Lawrence and Tim Robbins called Nothing To Lose. one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. She did a great job on that. In any case, she seemed like such a sweet down to earth person. John does too, was sad to hear when she passed away. Thank you for a great Vlog about her and John.
Crying my eyes out looking at the pictures of the interior, of the Travolta home. I try to imagine the happiness and loss that was experienced inside those walls. We are so much alike than different, especially in death. Be must treat each day as a gift and love one another. God Bless Us all!!
This is really sad and the fact all the women John was close with passed away. I can’t even imagine the heart ache he is feeling. His wife, Kirstie, and Olivia Newton John not to mention loosing a son. My condolences to all the family and friends involved who knew these wonderful people. I hope John is doing ok with his kids. Such a tragic situation. Thank you Scott for these amazing videos wouldn’t be able to experience the great views if it wasn’t for you. 🙏🏼🕊️💐❤️❤️❤️

I didn’t known John and Kirstie were neighbors. So very sad. RIP Kelly and Kirstie. I always loved John Travolta. He always stayed humble. Her death was so sudden, it broke my heart.
I first remember Kelly Preston “Secret Admirer” and just loved that movie. I could still watch that movie today, and laugh and enjoy everyone’s performances. Movies in the 80’s so much fun and light hearted, imho. Great content Scott!! You’re da’ man!!!

Such a lovely discussion of Kelly. I learned a lot of her history that I did not know. The house and neighborhood are so stately including the surrounding smaller homes-the water view is incredible. Her movie with Kevin Bacon, “Death Sentence,” was a terrific nail biter. This was a fabulous episode, thank you, Scott!
I used to love Kelly Preston! Most of her movies were my childhood. Films such as Jack Frost (1998), Twins (1988), Sky High (2005), and it makes me depressed that she was in Old Dogs (2009) along with her husband, John Travolta, and the late Robin Williams. That film was a Three Men and A Baby (1987) and a Baby Boom knock off but with kids.
So sad! I wish someone would find a cure for cancer. It sucks! 😥

Whether your for or against Scientology John has carried on with grace and dignity after so much loss. Growing up, Welcome Back Cotter, Saturday Night Fever and Urban Cowboy made me a fan of his work.
I live on the coast of Maine where the Travolta's were known to spend the Christmas holiday. Met them many times, as I work in a shop they frequented. John indeed lights up a room, and Kelly was always pleasant. But was most surprised by their daughter, Ella. So sweet and down to earth with a quiet elegance about her. They have raised a beautiful girl. Inside and out. The last Christmas I saw them, Kelly did not look well. I thought perhaps she was tired from the trip. Was shocked and so saddened to learn of her passing the following August. My heart goes out to this lovely family.

Hi Scott, poor John, he lost his wife and son, at very young ages. John is a lovely person. RIP to Kelly Preston. 💐💐
What a great video!! My brother lives in the Clearwater area and I love going there for a visit. You NEVER know who you are going to run into there. Much love to Kelly Preston and Jett Travolta!!! RIP❤
John and Kelly also have a compound 2 hours north, in Anthony, Florida. That's a suburb of Ocala. We lived in Ocala and were told that was where she actually passed. The compound is out of sight but it was said, if the jet was in the driveway, you knew they were home. John was spotted at the Wal Mart on Silver Springs Blvd constantly after midnight. He does all his shopping or going to the gym after midnight. Kelly was well known in Ocala in helping the lower income people find help and some security. She is sorely missed. It's said that John sold the place in Clearwater and, basically, cut ties with Scientology. My son has been passed the palatial estate in Anthony/Ocala and said it' s huge.
Awesome video and continuation of Kirstie’s property too…Kelly so young to die, how terrible cancer is, rich or poor it gets the best of us.
That had to be really devastating to John to lose his wife and his best friend so close together.
I felt so sad when I saw the pictures of their house all of the memories they made and time together just kind of broke my heart💔 life is so short. But you did a amazing job as always💕

Back in 1983 (or was it '84?) when Kelly was filming Mischief, one evening she and most of the cast popped into our local watering hole, in Athens, Ohio. I think they only stopped for a drink, but were having so much fun partying with the locals, they ended up staying the whole evening. I remember Kelly to be sweet and easy to laugh and a real goof off. And we all know how beautiful she was! All of them were just regular young adults like us, with no presumptuousness hanging with a bunch of blue collar folks. I had a '79 Bandit Trans Am at the time, and ended up taking Jami Gertz for a cruise. It was a fun night! Unfortunately, there were no camera phones in those days!
