    Tripe takes a long time to cook. The server should have advised them to put it in the hot pot first and wait a good 10-15 minutes before trying to eat it. Also, for a quick cooking format, such as hot pot, they should have sliced it into thinner ribbons, so it would cook more easily.

    She's a real foodie. Real foodies just don't go out to restaurants to eat the delicious foods, they start reading about the history of the dishes or who and where it was invented, etc. I did this when I went to New York and basically it was an amazing culinary and history experience of the American immigrants' ingenuity and survival. The stories that come with food (especially the mom and pop shops that were started 2-3 generations back) have so much beautiful stories weaved through their menus.

Korean hotpot usually put everything in the pot and boil it all at once’s and it’s paired with a lot of side dishes and a bowl of rice. Chinese bbq is mostly skewers that is seasoned and cooked over coals. Everything is cooked while skewered even the vegetables. It’s a good pair with beer.

    Pro tip for hot pot: you always put the veggies in first before dipping the meat! The veggies will make the broth more sweet and flavorful. Enjoy the meat as the veggie slowly cooks and absorb all the broth. Then eat the veggies last , it will be full of flavor and juicy af😊😊😊

  • @harrislam

    @harrislam

    7 ай бұрын

    let's just say there are quite a few ways to do it. I typically go meat first and veggies whenever the broth gets too oily. My wife is with me on the order, but take the greens out quickly before they lose too much of the crispy snappy texture. The way you do it, the broth won't be up to temperature when you cook the meat, or if it IS up to temp, your veggie would be overdone having them down for so long. That would be my household's opinion. So yeah, definitely different preferences.

  • @wilsonz6796

    @wilsonz6796

    7 ай бұрын

    It really depends on the broth. There is no rule to how you eat hot pot, but the most common way is meat first into the broth. The meat makes the broth more flavorful while it cooks down. The veggies go in after especially if your eating mala or anything with oils, because the greens first would absorb all the oils and flavor leaving the greens all oily and unpleasant to eat. Mushrooms will do the same, but also produce more water into the broth making it more bland. noodles go in last at the end once the broth has boiled to the point of maximum flavor.

  • @gamesgames3318

    I prefer putting radish and corn first and maybe fishball and seafood to add more flavour. Some broths are already rich tho so it doesn't matter

  • @fpengu

    @fpengu

    7 ай бұрын

    i completely dissagree, meat goes in first and makes the broth so much better, the fat from the meat melts off into the broth, then you add the vegetables so they can cook through multiple batches of the meat because of how quick it cooks and by the end you toss in some brick noodle and its flavored by every round of meat and you have well cooked vegetables with it. But also hotpot is basically no rules, do whatever you like, just my opinion

    I'm a Korean Kiwi (New Zealander), and when I shared a flat with my uni friends, they initially disliked Kimchi. However, they gradually became accustomed to it when we cooked it with Korean BBQ. When I made Kimchi stew (with plenty of meat), some of my mates mentioned it tasted like their mom's good old casserole. Once they acquired a taste for it, they began incorporating it into their sandwiches and salads. Sometimes, I even caught them raiding the fridge in the middle of the night with the 'munchies,' eating raw Kimchi with their fingers. I honestly don't know the reason behind this. Now they go and buy their own...

    As an autistic person and someone with to many forms of anxiety lmao I've always been really intimidated by new foods and especially by different cultural cuisines then the mostly American food I eat everyday. I'm really sensitive to flavor. (I didn't own salt until my partner started eating at my house, for example of how extreme my personal sensitivity is) Things that are well seasoned or have clashing or mixing flavors overwhelm and overstimulate me and I always get worried when I go to a new restaurant or cafe and can't understand or don't know what things on the menu are. What I'm trying to say- that's why I really enjoy the food videos Keith and the try staff put out! Eat the menu but also things like this, where they go and try or even just show off food they enjoy. Cause they tend to take the time to explain what they're eating, Keith does a good job of describing flavors too, and I really appreciate that YB translated or read everything out so you could hear the pronunciation and proper name. It makes trying new stuff for me feel a lot intimidating! I recently went to a Taco truck for the first time after I watched Keith, Zach and Garrick go to all those taco trucks lol

    I had Korean Barbeque about once every two weeks with friends when I lived in the city. Also learned Soju knocks me on my butt omg. I love the Green Grape one. I just found a Korean Barbeque place in my city and had my birthday there. We had Barbeque and Hot Pot. It was awesome and I was a little overwhelmed with deliciousness. The owners even make their own sauces and kimchi. I had tried kimchi before and felt it was too sharp tasting for me. This one was more like a relish and it reminded me more of pickled veggies which I love (my parents make Mediterranean food). My dad and I were into Squid Game and K dramas during quarantine. We'd like text each other what we watched and kind of rank them. Also found out that Tteokbokki is delicious and is commonly in a spicy sweet sauce (was not aware there was a sauce).

    The reason Korean BBQ in LA is considered the best in the world is because there is an access to quality produce and meats that was previously lacking in South Korea. Up until fairly recently, South Korea was considered a poorer country where it was harder to access high quality ingredients. Nowadays, cities like Seoul have caught up to the LA region and depending on who you ask, you'll find a difference of opinion on where the best Korean BBQ in the world is located. Some now say LA is the best for a more traditional style, while Seoul is best for experimentation and innovation.

    As a Korean in Korea I would say, I would eat hotpot on a special day and eat kbbq on a normal day. Korean bbq is significantly more affordable + hearty so its like a comfort food for me whereas hotpot costs more and I feel that I would go on a special occasion. A Chinese food I recommend that is a comfort food is mala tang and mala xiang guo, which would have probably been a better comparison because even in China, they don't eat hotpot on the daily but eat mala tang and xiang guo more.
