A great selection of locomotives at 2024's Diesel Gala at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, with a variety of guest locomotives running alongside the Worth Valley home fleet.
One of the standout guests of the event was 37250, debuting a fresh repaint into EWS livery, paired on numerous occasions during the weekend with home fleet Class 37, 37075. Another pairing for the event came with two Westerns by name; D1015 'Western Champion' and GBRf 69009 'Western Consort', the latter marking the debut of a Class 69 at the KWVR. 69009 led a previous life as Class 56 56060, with the loco now carrying BR Maroon, with white cabs and Western style name/number plates, as per the BR Class 52s.
A final duo came in the form of Class 50s, with 50008 'Thunderer' and 50021 'Rodney' also working some trains together, sporting liveries representing both current mainline operation with Hanson & Hall, as well as previous service under British Rail respectively.
"Trig, why'd you call me Dave? My name's not Dave. It's Rodney"
The Saturday of the event saw 50021 'Rodney' renamed as 'Dave' on one side of the locomotive for the remainder of the event. This is in reference to the BBC Sitcom 'Only Fools and Horses'. where Rodney, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, would always be called 'Dave' by Trigger, played by Roger Lloyd-Pack, who sadly passed away in 2014.
