Great interview. I’m happy to see what K.C. O’Conner looks like and I’m glad that he confirmed that Jim’s side of the story was true. I’m also happy to finally hear the identity of the wrestler who told K.C. to “always get your money.” Robert Gibson set him up unintentionally for what transpired with the car. Killer beard on K.C. too.

I think it’s safe to say KC still loves Jimmy despite the destroyed car…

Very cool hearing this. I've heard Cornette's version countless times and I've always wondered who the anonymous SMW star was who told KC to not let anyone screw him over on his money. Good ol' Hoot!

PRO's: learned under the learnng tree of Jerry Lawler, is a wrestling historian ,no doubt about it and has booked angles that have drawn money ,no argument here. CONS:He sometimes booked for an audience that has Passed Him By and he and Vince(russo and Mcmahon) have this problem that they both think that they're in their 40's and the entertainment mentality of modern fans is a lot different that 1985 or 1998. it's literaly has become his new gimmick. instead of being the mama's boy he's become the old man yelling at the clouds and he's trolling modern wrestling fandoms who he can't CON anymore. and i grew up watching him ..but he's an old Carny bro

I’m so glad you interviewed KC. I had heard so much about this guy on Jim Cornette’s podcast, I’m a huge fan of Smoky Mountain wrestling, I watched it as a kid on Saturday mornings, and since I was listening to the podcast, I kept hearing the stories about him, but I’ve never seen an interview with them, so this is awesome!

Jim Cornette is not cut out for being the head guy . He can't wear the crown . Jim is knowledgeable but he is too high strung to be in a high pressure situation . He blames his OCD but in any case , he can't take it .

I think he would have made a great JJ Dillon if he would have found a Dusty Rhodes. But every mainstream promotion, he continually drew a Russo lol. Danny Davis seems to be the only one that was competent and got the most out of Corny creatively.

Basically a fan who ended up helping out and working behind the SMW scenes for Corny. Assumed more responsibility over time until he left in I think later 94, but short answer is SMW staff.

And also Jim had talked about how KC asked for a job and basically Sandy Scott was overworked going to the towns, getting sponsors out and all that other stuff so it kinda took the burden off of Sandy. But then as the story was told, KC wasn't really doing what he was asked to do and basically Jim got hot. Then, a short period of time goes by, Jim had a VHS video camera that he'd loaned to KC and KC didn't give it back to Jim. So then, Jim kept asking KC to give the camcorder back and KC said once or twice 'not if you bring me my money'. Then Jim went to the apartment that KC was staying at and then Jim went ape shit and basically cleaned out every piece of glass on his car with his bat. Sorry for going on a tangent but I was just giving the story.

It's all about the context. Not that tough to understand.

While I love Jim Cornette, I do agree with KC on how Jim conditioned sometimes, but can’t take it as well as he gives. If it’s a friend of his in the business, he will try to make sure everything about them is fair, but if it’s someone he’s holding a personal grudge against he has no problem with harsh ribs against them but if it’s done to him, then they took it too far. I’ve seen Jim talk about wrestlers cheating on their wives when they were still married to this wife, and in some instances, there are conflicting stories and it’s a situation where Jim really didn’t have any proof he just saw a wrestler talking to another girl in a room full of people and started saying and shoot interviews that this guy is a scumbag that’s sleeping with so and so but when someone said something about his marriage, he went and threatened everyone with a lawsuit. I agree with him on so many points about modern wrestling but I think he would get more people to see his side if he just chilled out a little sometimes. Nobody’s perfect and if someone did something not even to you just something you didn’t agree with in 1993 and it’s 2023 and you’re still screaming about it it just takes away from your argument when you’re making a good point because everyone just thinks you to blow everything out of proportion .

Oof.. you got an interview with kc, so now you’ll never get one with jc. Hope it was worth it.

Jim Cornette definitely has a "manic side". Back in O.V.W., Corny ran out to his car and grabbed a gun to shoot Brock Lesnar. This was because Lesnar had lifted up Corny's girlfriend Stacy in a way that pressed against her crotch piercings, causing her to cry in pain.
