Thinking about it now, we’re lucky Sting and Warrior didn’t end up failing like the other two Power Team members. Give it to Sting for realizing how ill-prepared he was and continuing to develop himself over the years. And Warrior? He did just enough to get by in the big push he got.

Once Sting broke away from Warrior and spent more time around Bill Watts and Eddie Gilbert in UWF. He was ready to learn and boy did he start to learn cause in 1988 he was in the main even at The Clash against Flair 45 minute draw and the rest is history!

Bassman didn't actually do the training; he recruited and promoted them, as Power Team USA; but hired Red Bastien to train them. Bastien had too many accumulated injuries to work with them in the ring; so, he recruited Bill Anderson to do the in-ring training with the 4 guys and that was barely training. Sting's real training came in UWF, from Eddie Gilbert, Bill Watts and the guys who worked with him. Then, it was the guys he worked with in WCW, especially Flair. Warrior never learned to work and just went to Dallas, who were desperate, then WWF, where Vince was a bodybuilder mark.

They also would've won the World Titles at about the same time if Sting hadn't gotten hurt at Clash of the Champions in February of '90. I believe he was scheduled to win the title at WrestleWar later that month, but the injury sidelined him & the title change was delayed until The Great American Bash in July (WrestleWar '90 was on February 25, while WrestleMania VI was a little over a month later on April 1).

Wrestling is about many things. Dutch never made millions and is not in the hall of fame. Warrior and Sting are. You have your technical wrestlers and you have your circus strongmen. You have the trapeze the clowns and the bearded lady along with the midgets. Everybody comes to the matches for a different reason. My friend Bill in St. Cloud refused to go to the matches when Warrior no-showed (another reason to hate Warrior) But that was the draw for him. Whether Dutch likes it or not Warrior was over. And at least he was a heavyweight, unlike these vanilla midgets that destroyed wrestling.

Really? James often comes across as not knowing the most rudimentary things about wrestling-related stuff. Then Dutch doesn't know, and the two verbally stumble over each other. To be fair, James doesn't come across as trying to put himself over, but really, he's just another handsome face, and the media already has plenty of those. He spends most of his time talking to Dutch, not exactly the most challenging person, as Dutch just rambles about anything. James is at times totally unprepared for the subject, which is annoying to behold.

If I remember the origins of Sting and Warrior correctly, Rick Bassman was a young would-be wrestling promoter looking to start his own thing in LA back in the mid-80s, he put out ads looking for young hopefuls and got a small group, getting old-time wrestler Red Bastein to train them and make them into his group Powerteam USA, four young musclemen with American ideals. The team had a cup of coffee together, just a couple matches at most, when Bassman's plans fell through. The other two guys (I think their names were Garland Donohue and Mark Miller) quit wrestling right after and were never heard from again, but Steve Borden and Jim Hellwig decided to continue, with Bastein recommending them to Jarrett (side note: there were two other young wrestlers trained with them: Steve DiSalvo who went on to have a decent run in Calgary, and David Sheldon (1953-2007) who wrestled for Bill Watts and Fritz Von Erich as the Angel of Death). Unfortunately as Jerry Lawler once commented, the two were green as goose shit and Memphis Wrestling didn't have the abilities at the time to help them improve. But they kept at it and did get better, particularly Borden/Sting

He had a chance to have a huge moment at Starrcade 97, but the match stunk. So I'd say Warrior did better. Warrior never learned to work and had a short career.
