Yes, very useful indeed especially MPE, scales, and the many other options on offer. I would love to have a Wilsonic AU version where the scales are laid out in a way that makes sense for those non-12 tone scales along with synths that would support the MIDI generated by such an app like Synth One as trying to generate many of those scales in playable hardware would be very cumbersome and expensive to do wheras it’s a perfect task to be handled by a touch surface.

Fact: Doug's reviews do actually sell apps. I purchased this app yesterday after watching the review. Purchased another app last week as well. Love the design and functionality of this app, makes life easier especially as some of the DAWs (Cubasis & BM3) have very rudimentary and limited keys.

Is it possible to record chords into Rozeta cells with the chord function?

  • @x1thesoul172

The standalone could work verrry well for my purposes. You used the sections for keys, but I can see controlling multiple sequencer/generator apps all from one screen so I wouldn’t have to switch. For example: Xynthesizer on one keyboard, so you can change chords with a single note. iBassist with the chord one (and having iBassist routed out to multiple instruments with its chord/note outputs) And then a keyboard to trigger drum patterns either with something like Soft Drummer (which could change iBassist patterns), or like Patterning. (Alternative option to the drum app option would be to reserve one row for a multitimbral input like iM1, Beathawk or Gadget, and change midi channel when you want to change ‘instruments’) Along with all this, which is more than enough, I can have one actual keyboard connected to play one other instrument and have a few midi controllers present for controlling the timbre and fx of the apps I’m controlling directly from the three rows. One question though. Does this app support program change? Seems it’d be a pretty convenient feature for this layout.

The advantage of having AU is being able to have your keyboard setup baked into your project. With full screen AU, the usefulness in AU will depend upon how well the efforts of the AU host app and AU app developers mesh together (being on the same page).

OK, this vid is from way back, but I'm gonna try my luck with an issue I'm having and you seem to be an expert. I downloaded this app with the intention of using it in Garageband, as the app description says it's an "AUv3 MIDI Instrument" and supports "Inter-App MIDI". But the KB-1 does not show up anywhere in my Garageband, only as a standalone. (iPad 9th gen / iOS 16) Any advice?

Great first draft of a great app… but am I the only one encountering bugs - like having to get out and in again of synth apps when opening another KB1 setup , or getting problems with AUM ? Also very frustrating, the lack of a proper user manual : I’ve been trying to change the midiCCs of the controller page « wheels » but couldn’t find the trick. It’s a pity because KB-1 could be the ideal app for real time synth apps CCs configuration, by creating ( and sharing !) config patches for workhorses like BS-i 16 and others…

Hi, KB-1 is a Midi Processor, so you will find it there. First, open a new channel and select MIDI, then tap on the MIDI Node and choose Audio Unit Midi Processor, and you will find it there in the list👍

Great app. I just can’t stand that weird red color all over the place. It really bugs my eyes. I don’t get why interfaces have Colors that are not perfect contrast to make reading stuff really easy for anyone. If it’s a work of art then who cares but the main thing in an app like this is the music and to make it easy as possible to see everything. Is it just me? I know I have issues with red in general because I am mildly color blind or something like that. Some Colors bother me.

  • @bittergums32

should be able to adjust all that in the accessibility settings on your device. The ios screen color settings have some controls directly relating to the most common types of color blindness. And you could turn that red to blue if you wanted.

I hate yellow. Don’t know why, just can’t stand it. Weird...anyway, yeah an interface should be readable and immediately decipherable at a glance.
