Kayak Fishing for Smallmouth Bass on Dale Hollow Lake

Спорт

I took a road trip to Dale Hollow Lake to compete in the B.A.S.S Nation kayak bass fishing tournament. I used a combination of gulp minnows and spro crank baits to catch some smallmouth and spotted bass. Fishing was tough but I pulled out a top 10 finish.

I used to be a big time Fisherman, I had about 100 different Rods & Reels from big Catfish, down to different Ultralight. My Ultralights I used some for Perch, some for trout, some on other Pan fish, I realised something what ever kind of bait you are comfortable with, is what you use and you will catch more fish with that, because you are comfortable with it.

I live 5 minutes from willow Grove boat dock. I have a slip and go out on dale hollow every weekend. It's beautiful and one of the cleanest lakes in the U.S. but it can be tough to get bit sometimes.... and that Shimano slx is a amazing reel. I have one and love it!

This lake is wale known you didn't do your home work. Every good fisherman do home work there still in school for every body of water. Hair jig with trailers are one bait used heavy on that lake to. Swimming jig work crayfish trailer and money maker crankbaits. Tips on crankbaits if you can get some that dive deeper for different depths. Over all you did a good job and you did the right thing going back to your money bait. I hope the weather and fish bit in your favor next tournament. Keep cracking never give up on yourself👍

Gulp minnows work great but I've found big tube jigs in natural colouration for that clear water you got down there works great and you will always get an upgrade throwing those tubes bud. You have a good handle on the jigging technique, I know you love the Gulp Minnow but next time you go out out for practice or what not try throwing a 6-8" Pumpkin/Fire Tail Lizard. You don't get hit every cast but the average quality sized fish will increase. Start throwing Lizards and worms with your jigging ability you'll win most of these tournaments.

You'll have to some day head to northern Ohio and catch some lake Erie small mouth Amateur like me, last time I went, caught fish most of the day avg 2 to 2 1/2 lbs. Biggest fish over 6 lbs to my buddy. Mine was little under 5 lbs. Pretty steady action. They fight like demons. Great video. Thanks. Peace ✌️

New waters always Tough especially for a tourney , the weather has been my Biggest nemisis lately it is like a yoyo here and Rain with each front ,makes it tough on any Trip, not to mention my live bait shop shut down till Spring that didn't help things along at all, now it's drive the totally ass opposite direction for live bait and then Back to my spots ,,O Well we did what we must ,I have a bait bucket I made that keeps bait alive better than anything I've Seen so ,Drive for bait one morning and fish the afternoon,, OR drive for bait one afternoon and fish the next day ,that's the plan anyhow, even storming Norman didn't go to the desert without a plan lol 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣🤣🤣🦈🎣 ,,Keep Ya Line Tight
