    Just want to say its normal to miss your kids as they get older and develop lives of their own. What's not normal is to blame the kids for it.

    Also, wouldn't the reasonable reaction to your children not keeping in touch be worrying if they're okay? Or even wondering why. But not having a full rant about their entitlement.

    The way these parents think badmouthing their kids on the internet will make them talk to them more is kindof astounding tbh. Love your accessories!

  • @PeachPlastic

    @PeachPlastic

    Жыл бұрын

    This form of badmouthing is not meant as a binding agent to restore attachment with those children, it's merely a matter of transferring the role of attention-giver to whoever will listen instead of the children. In this secondary stage, having been abandoned becomes a valuable form of currency, because it's a socially effective way to induce attention through pity (for how badly they have allegedly been treated) or admiration (for their self-glorification). Parents like these are not interested in forming a bond with the real person that child is. Even if that child still were in contact with them, they would have an arsenal of accusations about how undeserving or wrong that child is or behaves as ammunition. There's no way for that child to be good enough, close enough, enough. That's why the badmouthing "works" as an outlet for them. If the child hears about the badmouthing or even reacts to it in a way they perceive as negative, that gives their narrative more fuel and drama to reel others in with. These types of parents are very needy 'emotional vampires'. If the child were to come back and attempt to appease that parent, their story would not retroactively be altered or amended. They will remain the wronged hero who was merciful enough to accept them back. However the case may stand, it's important to note that the other side of the coin, where the child is used as the "show monkey" instead of the scapegoat, is not better, either. It's usually either of those two, or a combination of both (especially for a single child).

    Adult children do not cut ties for no reason. And that's the part that rubs me about this woman. She's calling her children entitled for setting a boundary and in doing so showing us the exact reason WHY her kids likely don't want her in their life.

    As someone whose spent a lot of time in a nursing home recently, I e had so many older people tell me about how their kids have stopped talking to them, then go on to tell me the most horrific stories like it's no big deal. It's sad seeing so many people just be completely tuned out of reality, but at least they get to sit there alone and do it.

    Yes! Tylers’s back! This mom strikes me as the type of parent to buy their child an expensive gift and then as a punishment film themselves destroying said gift and posting the video online.

  • @PeachPlastic

    @PeachPlastic

    Жыл бұрын

    The poor man's version of this is buying their child a thrifted gift, then presenting it with a self-congratulatory monologue about how well they picked it out, and about all the effort they went through to get it. They will be sure to tell you the price. Basically, the act of them giving a gift is a guilt trip. A possible extension of this is threatening to take it away again, or telling the child about the gift ahead of the occasion it's meant for, and then making the reception conditional. In the latter scenario, the conditions can be any number of freely added tasks during the entire time span leading up to that day. Even if you receive it, you won't feel like you've earned it, like it's not really yours, or that you won't get to keep it or play with/use it much at all.

    Its people like this that make me thank my stars that I have such an amazing set of parents who are incredibly supportive, loving and have literally gone above and beyond to have a good relationship with me. The surprise I see on people's face when I tell them I actively try to spend time with my parents is always a sad thing to see. Same with grandparents.

    I was talking to my mom over the phone and she brought up the "I was a good mother" line. All the mental pain that was created by my parents that I thought that I successfully buried deep down under mental concrete suddenly sprang up and I was a mess. It took quite a few years to recover from that and I still have not been able to get back to the same state as I was before she said that. Could be wrong, but I think I have seen this lady on KZread before, and she said other stuff that really ticked me off.

    Demanding admiration and respect from your children for simply being their parent, is nothing short of viewing children like little servant creatures bound in eternal servitude, whom you summon with your bodily occultism. Children never asked to be born, and parents best remember that. If anything, parents should be grateful TO their children, for having come into existence solely to fulfil the parent's desire for offspring.

    I'm noticing a pattern among a staggering number of bio parents, it's not children that they actually want... It's the nebulous concept of a "legacy". Sometimes all they want is free emotional (and physical) labor as they get older. They want someone to clean up after them and take care of them, they basically want a free nursemaid/caretaker, a good little obedient worker, persuaded by obligation and/or love to look after their parents, despite growing up and probably wanting to have lives of their own. Even those of us don't like and don't want kids at the very least view children as actual people with personal autonomy.

    My mother once ranted about someone whose son had cut ties from his mother, to flaunt her own superiority. I'm loosely quoting her here, "What does it say about parents when even their children don't want to have anything to do with them anymore.... What horrible parents they must be." While I was already dreaming of doing just that when I grew up. Now, 20 years or so later, guess who now has a "disrespectful child." And how dare I do that, for every point Tyler just listed, + physical abuse, or as my mother now calls it, chastisement in the name of God.

    An adult child choosing to go low/no contact with a parent speaks a very loud truth, if your children are turning their back on you it's not without reason. The fact that she's coming online to put her kids on blast about it, to whine about her perspective on things and that she "thinks" she was a good mother isn't something that a good mother does. The responsibility of the relationship is always put on the child and not the person that raised them. When someone says they are no contact with their parents or their family, I don't even question it, they are already probably getting "but they're family" from every angle. So what?

    So much truth, and sadly they wont see it themself. I am healing from being parentified as a child and infantilized as an adult by mine, am now no-contact with them. Im reading Lindsay C. Gibson's book about Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, and the biggest pain to read was that they rarely will -or cant- see/remember/understand what they did, so we cant expect apologies or change from them. We just gotta do whats best for ourselves and move on. 🩹 🎀Also KAWAII COURT FOR THE WIN! 🎀

    If they grow up to be disrespectful and feel the need to turn their back on their parents when they get the chance to go off on their own, I think that says more about the people who raised them and the way they were raised than anything. Not trying to absolve people of personal responsibility for their actions but these behaviors don’t just arise out of thin air. If there is love, trust, respect and healthy boundaries in your relationship with your child(or anybody, for that matter), they will not feel motivated to “turn their back on you”.

    They definitely need therapy. It sucks bc they were raised in a time that it was greatly looked down on… they have a whole culture that taught them to act like everything’s ok, and now that they have the internet-read: a captive audience that “cares” about their feelings and thoughts- they are trying to use it to express themselves. She is definitely not right. But I feel bad that she doesn’t think she has the resources/ capacity to deal with these issues herself. :/

    I'm coming at this from the child's perspective, as I made the choice (insert horrified gasp/clutch pearls) to not produce spawn. I have a much better, and healthier, relationship with my mom 20+ years after moving out than I ever did when I lived at home, or for about 5ish years after I moved out. I had to figure out the basics of adulting, and so, yeah, my parents were not my closest relationships anymore. We eventually did get closer again once they accepted me on an adult level. I'm grown, have a whole-ass grownup career, and make my own way. We can be friends, if we can manage common ground, but I don't need to be parented anymore. The even better part now is that the roles have mostly reversed, and gotta say, that's a bit@h. I'm on the cusp of Gen X & Millenials, so get ready, y'all, cause the ride just keeps getting wilder. Fml. P.S. - love your hair! Do you have an ombre look going on in the back? Well, are you pleased with it? Because that's the only opinion that matters, but props for such a huge change! I hope it brought you lots of joy. 💖🌹

    Tyler... Whan you returned with bleached hair, I knew something was wrong (it's really pretty but still) you are the last person I would expect to do that... for many reasons which I won't say here to not over comlicate but I will say that you seemed like you were confident in your own skin Whan that happand the first thought that came to mind was "Tyler... who hurt you?" Than came to mind a second thought. Now, I only follow you on this platform so I might (probably) don't know everything and I didn't want to say (write) anything that may be out of place, but... After seeing this video... which may be called "kawaii court" but has nothing to do with anything kawaii (at least not dirctly. We are NOT getting into the origin and use of kawaii fashion now) but instead was about what seemed to be your personal qualm... and than continued into another as it seems your personal qualm... The second thought was "Tyler... did you break up?" Are you okay? What happend? And, I hope you have friends to get you through this. DISCLAIMER English is my third lenguage, so sorry if it is not perfect. I am only a worried subscriber. Respond as you want, or don't. Your choice Also it's the middle of the night here.... Well whatever I stand by my words and tried to word it out as gently as I could. Good luck

    There is a video where she kind of talks about her current life. She was at a crossroad in her life and needed to make some changes. In a previous video she did say that she was still with him. I can understand what it is like when you feel something has to change or you will break. Changing things like your hair and makeup is not the worst changes to make. I think she is looking better than in some of her previous videos, so hopefully that means she is getting onto more solid ground and is finding her true self again.

    You're making some ridiculous assumptions there. Your supposed concern for her well-being is wrapped in criticism of her personal choices that are none of your business. What you probably think reads like concern and compassion actually reads like judgement. A person dying their hair is not a sign that they are "not comfortable in their own skin," or that there is something dangerously wrong with their mental health. Tyler dyed her hair because she felt like doing it. She loves it, and just about everyone else under the sun loves it. As for the video "NOT getting into the origin and use of kawaii fashion now," welcome to the channel. Tyler's channel has always been free form and she has very frequently talked about things that interest her that aren't necessarily "getting into the origin and use of kawaii fashion." SHE is kawaii, and this is her court. Hence the title. This is her new series. Don't like it? Well there's no shortage of other content on youtube for you to enjoy.

    This is pretty ridiculous. The first time I dyed my hair was because I wanted pink hair since I was 10, and at 14 I was allowed to dye the ends to go to a wedding. People change their appearance for all sorts of reasons, it's silly to immediately worry because someone decided to go blond.
