I’ve been listening to the Russian National Anthem a lot lately. So beautiful. In it you can hear the Russian pride of country, great compassion for the soul of Russia, great sadness for the many millions of Russian citizens killed in past wars to protect the homeland. IMO, the absolute BEST anthem. So moving… every time that I hear it.

Many years ago...during the cold war..I was in the italian navy.we were of course allied with USA...IN THE NATO...and we considered russians like our worst ennemies.one day...politicians organized a meeting for the peace...and in the city where I was on station...a russian ship arrived.we saw them for the firt time..and they saw us for the first time....and after the national himnes....they started to sing this song....we had the translation..and we were surprised to see how much they were similar with us!...in that song they were talking about their far villages....their families...that lonely girl near the river...waitting for her far boyfriend..all these feelings were also in our minds!!!...when they went away we saw their ship far...and we praied for they..their family..and for the peace!!!!

Schönes Lied. Und eine Schande, dass der Patriotismus des russischen Volkes so verbrecherisch ausgenutzt wird, um ihr Nachbarland, die Ukraine, zu überfallen und zu unterjochen. Die Faschisten von heute, Putins Russen, singen halt genauso gut, wie damals 1941 die Deutschen. Geschichte wiederholt sich nicht, aber man kann und muss trotzdem aus ihr lernen.
