Katie's first day in service on KLR - 30th May 2015

Ernest Twining designed a 15inch gauge loco which was eventually built by Trevor Guest, named Katie, and delivered to the Dudley Zoo Railway for the 1956 season. However, Katie changed hands quickly in her early years, being bought by Captain Hewitt of Anglesey but never run by him. After his death in 1965, Katie moved to the Fairbourne Railway to join her younger and almost identical sister "Sian". The two locos were the mainstay of the Fairbourne fleet though out the 1970s.
After the Fairbourne Railway changed ownership and was re-gauged in 1985, Katie was sold to Wigan Council for use at Haigh Hall. They loaned her out to the Cleethorpes Light Railway in the 1990s, but she badly needed a new boiler and was withdrawn from traffic in 1997. Austin Moss bought her and moved her to Windmill Farm Railway where he undertook an overhaul and fitted a new boiler. In April 2015, Katie was sold to the Kirklees Light Railway and this new chapter of her life began with her inaugural runs on May 29th/30th/31st 2015, as shown in this video.
(Apologies for the wind noise in the last section.... a good stiff Yorkshire breeze blowing this afternoon up on top o' t' 'ills!)
