    Her greatest achievement in life isn't being one of the most talented and beautiful actresses of her time, it's her strength, her ability to persevere with the most painful disease RA, and her amazing personality to cope and accept herself as she is right now. People who adapt to their changing circumstances in life have been studied by doctors and psychiatrists and studies have proven these are the individuals who are the most psychologically sound and healthy. Bravo Kathleen! We love you just the way you are......REAL and not Plastic!

    In college I was her waiter at a concert club. She sent every dish back after a few bites and ordered one Perrier only. Her credit card declined and when I returned it, to tell her the check had been "comped", she held up her finger and said to me, I don't have money. I haven't got paid for this job yet (she was filming in Atlanta, GA). She turned to the guy next to her and said, Jeff, can you put this on your tab and tip the waiter. I'm broke right now. I'll get the next one. ...THAT is a woman that keeps it real in every sense.

    They kinda glossed over it so FYI... she's been suffering from severe Inflammatory Arthritis (RA) since the 90's which is an auto immune disease much like MS and Lupus. First line treatment is typically Methotrexate which is a chemo drug... only difference is you take it low dose and for the rest of your life. Methotrexate interrupts your cells ability to use folic acid in order to replicate (why it slows growth of cancer cells). Unfortunately it can do that to every cell in your body, including cells produced in excess by your immune system (auto immune disease)... so for RA its like little mini chemo treatments once weekly forever... cause RA is chronic and incurable for most people. Prednisone use is also common especially in the past, which causes uncontrollable weight gain amongst other nasty side effects... these days looked upon as a last resort. RA is also often ten times more painful than Osteoarthritis... which is what most people think of as Arthritis. Of all the reasons to drink its a pretty understandable one. Most people with severe RA experience significant mobility issues within 10 years of diagnosis so depression is very common because it turns your life upside down. It looks to me shes now on some of the newer Biologic therapies (control symptoms much better), the first of which hit the market about 20 years ago, and it looks like she has managed to get some of her life back! Good for her, I hope she keeps Fighting!

    I was diagnosed with RA 20 years ago. I didn't want to go on drugs, knowing the side effects. So I did some research and found that high doses of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) could help. Tried that - 500mg 3x/day, and was cured. Beware of doctors.

  • @JaimeMesChiens

    @JaimeMesChiens

    5 жыл бұрын

    Valerie S you did “research” as in laboratory, double-blind studies, peer-review in a scientific journal, or google “research.” If the latter, you owe it to the world to get all your diagnostic medical notes and get yourself here to New Haven to Yale Medical School. A team of over-a-hundred scientists have been working tirelessly for decades to unlock RA. Since you’re cured yours, you should be evaluated to help others. Yes, the treatment is horrible, but you’re incorrect that the “medicine is more-dangerous-then the disease.” The adverse actions (“side effects”) of the traditional steroid-methotrexate cocktail can be unpleasant. But auto immune diseases will, indeed, “kill you”in a horrible manner. This is why millions of dollars are being funnelled into real research by real scientists at real universities. And there has been real progress with the current generation of anti-auto immunity meds and gene-based therapies. If a human has RA for twenty years and treated it with high doses of vitamin, one would expect that human to be in renal failure, in incapacitated, probably dead, as the expected life span of patient with RA who is untreated by science-based, scientifically-proven medicine and treatments is approx ten years. I’m sorry another commenter believes that MDs (and PhDs, I guess, since she stated “doctors” without qualifying any type doctor) are bad. Scientists are working hard to disentangle auto-immune disorders. Funding for all federal scientific research is at a near-stand still and private funding is seldom enough. So, since you’d be among the very few who’ve experienced remission, we would like to study (“research”) whether your remission is spontaneous and the vitamin therapy spurious, or if your body chemistry can help us unlock the horrible disorder. Of course, we know that vitamins do not cure autoimmune disorders. REAL research has ruled out most-of these pseudoscience”cures” decades ago. Without further info, I’d hypothesise that you either experienced a rare spontaneous remission, or more-commonly, were misdiagnosed. I’m assuming that you know that osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are quite-different entities.

  • @vs52217

    @vs52217

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I know the difference between RA and osteoarthritis. The medical establishment is hardly the "real" research. It is driven by money and the drug companies and there is no real research on natural cures because there isn't the billions of dollars in payoff that there would be for artificial drugs. You think you know everything but you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

    I still see the same Kathleen Turner, its her spirit that has never aged, we all should take this as an example of how to age, no matter what happens to your health and body, retain your youthful spirit, that's what will be your legacy. Betty White is another prime example of this exact thing. Love you Miss Turner.

    Excellent authentic, honest human being and actress, beautiful in her youth and aging just the way nature intended. She has also been suffering from Inflammatory Rheumatoid Arthritis for decades..living with incredible amounts of pain and numerous health problems, yet she never stopped stage acting, doing T.V. shows and occasional movie roles. It's always a joy to hear her amazing voice and to see her in good spirits. If only Hollywood had more of her ilk.
