Puccini- look out for a more carefully crafted manifesto of the Art of Seduction ( The only literary poem comparable would be John Donne's poem "The Flea") And with Placido Domingo singing the part of Don Giovanni...the poor girl hasn't a chance

Kathleen Battle ended up being her own worst enemy but when she sang--it was easy to forgive her. This performance with Maestro Domingo shows me the power of beauty and forgiveness over all. Bravo.

UppityG - You and your fellow negative trolls who make it their life's mission to be critical of Kathleen Battle somehow NEVER go to videos of the queen of "being her own worst enemy" - Maria Callas and comment on her notoriously drunken diva tantrums, fits and conflicts with fellow cast members, musicians and conductors the world over. Arturo Toscanini, at one point, refused to work with her. Yet she is praised and celebrated while her egotistical, demonic and grossly unprofessional behaviors are somehow overlooked!

She was impossible as a co-worker (one poor opera singer had T-shirt made - "I survived Battle"), but wish I'd heard her in Met & with Domingo.

Who said Domingo can't sing baritone again? Holy shit this was lyrical singing in perfection. Just listen to those perfectly controlled legatos. Kathleen Battle pales in comparison.
