To those that are saying “I never knew Kate was a singer”, don’t get too excited, sadly she’s not. This was the only song she actually ever recorded, and it was only a hit in Europe, particularly Kate’s home country, the UK. Kate only agreed to do it on the understanding it was only for promotion of the film “A Christmas Carol” and on the understanding that all royalties earned from the record sales went to charities that she supported, which they did. Kate was offered record deals following this, but she turned them all down. She was born to act, not to sing, and she cringes whenever someone even so much as mentions this song in an interview, because she hates her own singing voice, which to be fair, most of us hate listening to ourselves back on video or record. It’s a shame though, she’s got a beautiful voice.

I remember when this song first came out, my mum brought it for me on cd to go in my portable cd player and head phones, she got it as a Xmas present and when I opened it in the morning I was so chuffed, I remember saying "this is the best Xmas ever". Sadly my mum is no longer with us anymore, so whenever I hear this, it takes me back to that day. 😔

It's part of the soundtrack of christmas carol move number 100 and not even the main soundtrack. It's a miracle it got to 18 Million views, it wasn't even on the radio and Kate Winslet isn't famous as a singer so people wouldn't go looking for her songs, she's an actress with a minor (though important) role in this movie. So: how would you even find it if you hadn't either checked the soundtrack of the movie (hardly anyone does this), heard about it from friends (who did check) or stumbled over it, possibly while looking for christmas carol movies to watch on youtube. I fell in love with the song while watching the movie on TV years ago and cried when the video was disabled in my countr due to copyright, but I just found out that it's available again, soo....yay!

Dear God, that's a beautiful voice!! I'm amazed that Kate Winslet has another talent!! Beautiful!

I can't help but think of Titanic, "what if I had never let you go?", the handprint, the shots of Kate looking up reminiscent of the lifeboat jump scene, I imagine this is Rose returning home after making it to America, this is the closest thing we'll get to a titanic sequel folks.

Sam E - she should have stayed in the boat.. maybe jack could have survived on his own, beat the impossible odds.. but not having to care for another. That’s where Rose went wrong.

Wow she is an amazing singer! One of the best voices I've ever heard honestly. And she can really hit those high notes so perfectly and has a lot of power and range. She needs to do more songs.

What a beautiful voice she has! Amazing how she lifts the song so high. Powerful, like everything she does! And most surprising is her "not-so-stellar" personality. She's such a humble, down to earth person. She could perfectly be your next-door neighbour! However, who has such a gorgeous woman next door?

This song inspired me once to stay with my girlfriend after we had a huge break up fight... It's crazy how many songs defined my life.
