    Not really an issue here, but common practice to remove a stud without damaging it is to thread two nuts onto the end and tighten them against each other. You can usually then turn the inner nut with a wrench and the stud will come out.

    Carb throat (22mm Mikuni) should be just smaller than the valve diameter. In this case (assuming it's a 1st generation Predator212) it has 25mm intake valves. If it were a Hemi with 27mm intake valves, I'd go with a 26 mm carb. Just my 2 cents.

    When add a MIKUNI 22 mm carb upgrade, and you remove that plastic governor gear out of the engine case along with the governor armature up to where the throttle linkage used to be..do you really have to replace the carb jets and other parts along with the engine valves ? or can i just bolt on the Mikuni 22 mm carb without the governor and just run the Predator 212 as a stock engine without the governor gear slowing it down?

  • @KartItofficial

    @KartItofficial

    6 жыл бұрын

    Removing the gear is a precaution. After bypassing the governor, if you leave the gear in, you risk the possibility of the gear coming apart at higher RPMs. You can leave it in, but it’s just one less thing to worry about if you remove it and it’s really easy to do. You can bolt the Mikuni on a stock predator and run it without upgrading anything, but the valves will float at higher rpm, but for a non-racing application you will be fine with a stock motor with the Mikuni.

  • @oldguyjohnretrolifestyle9281

    @oldguyjohnretrolifestyle9281

    6 жыл бұрын

    Well even if the governor gear is removed, and the gear arm to the linkage plate (also removed,as that linkage plate wont be needed in favor for the Mikuni's throttle setup), will i need to buy the better quality valve springs for the higher RPM performance ? the stock engine valve springs and the stock MIKUNI 22mm metering jets will not need to be upgraded ? that will certainly help keep the parts cost down ;)

    I agree. The direct throttle cable alone is worth it. I've never driven a Ferrari or anything, but I imagine those kinds of cars to have the same kind of throttle response. It's obvious the stock throttle linkage was really meant for generators and such that are running at a constant RPM. For our purposes we really need much better throttle control. these round slides really do the best job.

    +redneck4life887 To me, the smoother idle and throttle response is worth it alone. There is a noticeable power gain too. More noticeable than just your standard intake filter and exhaust header pipe mods. It starts much easier as well. Like I said in the video, it's my favorite mod so far. I've always hated the stock throttle setup on these engines because it wasn't very smooth and was part of the reason the bike was hard to control. It would just take off whenever the throttle would finally break open instead of letting me feather in the throttle. This is all because the throttle cable is directly connected to the carb instead of having to go through all the linkages.

  • @KartItofficial

    @KartItofficial

    7 жыл бұрын

    Michael'sMotors There's a few advantages. The better throttle response and control being one of the biggest. The cable directly connects to the slide on the carburetor and therefor you don't have any binding of linkages like you get sometimes with the stock style setup. Performance is the other big advantage. Out of the box you will feel a small power increase due to the added air and fuel volume the engine is able to take in. I also feel the engine fires and run smoothly due to more precisely metered fuel. Due to the nature of air and fuel mixtures through, certain applications may need more jet tuning to get it just right.

  • @KartItofficial

    Bryce Glover Thats pretty large for this small of an engine. It doesn't move near enough air through the cylinder to support that large of a carb. It would probably start and run, but would bog down when you opened the throttle. Maybe a race style clone engine with head work and cam can support it. Also I believe the mounting flange is a different side when you go up to that size so you'd have to make an intake manifold adapter to mount it.

    A new gasket was installed on the engine side of the adapter. Just figured that was an obvious thing to do.

    I need a wheelie bar, any thoughts?

    Measure the length of drag bar you need and weld 2 barstock steel tubing with middle supports inbetween the wheeliebar frame, so the wheelie bar cant flex when that front wheel comes up, wheeliebar wheels for minibike can be almost anything from small metal rimmed kiddie training wheels (id rig those training wheels with bearing rings or sealed bearings from skateboard) to small diameter metal rim lawn mower wheels because those mower plastic wheels *will not hold up for long!*

    Could use the electric scooter metal rimmed tires, scooter rims looking like this-electricscooterparts.com/electricpocketbikewheels.html,just about any small diameter steel or aluminum rims for a mini-bike wheelie bar can be made as long as they are not bigger than 12 inch to 16 inch bike rims

    i have installed one since my comment. It seems fine atm but at one point it didnt run right and leaked out of everywhere. I adjusted the screw under the intake of the carb and it runs great atm. I also made my own intake manifold instead from buying one for a ridiculous price.

    Do i need the black adapter? Can't I just leave the black thing and the studs on there. Why don't people do that? Just a buy a mikuni carb take out the old one the old throttle and then leave the black thing thats behind the carb on there(maybe like drill the hole out to be bigger) and then just istalling the carb just like that. Like why remove the studs, why add an adapter? Why waste more money on an adapter. Buy the carb off of ebay for $20 bucks with an air filter and their. Don't get me wrong I would totally use the adapter because its easier and probably more reliable but I'm on a budget so I really don't have the money to buy the entire kit from go powersports, ect. Someone please let me know if its possible to do that? Thank you. Great Video.

    Thats why its called an adapter.. it adapts the two different bolt patterns. it also brings the carb out where it clears.. and the carbs on ebay are knock offs.. they work but good luck rejetting them!

    Because the bolt spacing on the mikuni carb is bigger i believe it is 42mm on the block and 46mm on the carb.

    hey, do you know that that Mikuni isn't original, it's 1:1 Chinese 20usd copy. And by the way, if I were you I wouldn't use that air filter

    It appears that you were given a Chinese knockoff of a Mikuni carb. There are several Chinese fakes that are worthless. The ones offered from GPS are supposed to be ok. But take heed that many of the ones on ebay ect are bad. Pay a bit more for an actual REAL Japanese made Mikuni. They are way better.

    Have installed 2 knock offs... they were more than worth the 30 bucks!!! Immediate gains and better throttle response. I do recommend them 100% I wouldn't recommend ebay for anything however I myself find alternatives for all purchases.
