I’m surprised by the commentor’s comments on story 2. I would get Andy dragging his feet if it were an hour long meeting, but it is 15-20 minutes to provide him legally required information and a legally required exit interview. Like it’s truly not that deep, just schedule the dang meeting lol

When I walk in my neighborhood in the evenings, I often walk in the road instead of on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is frequently covered by cars in their driveways, so if I stayed on the sidewalk I'd be walking around them constantly. So I stay on the road unless I see a car coming.

If you’re doing it responsibly then ok. But if you’re further than a car parked on the side of the road you’re walking wrong. If there is a car parked in the road then you go to the sidewalk. If you walk further than a car parked on the side then you’re in the middle of the road and asking to get hit. Cars have to pass those other cars safely and don’t need to watch out for random people walking in the middle of the road because they don’t want to take a second to walk around a car.

So I actually have a story of my own. Me and my family where at a restaurant celebrating new years, and me and my cousins were playing in the playground, when suddenly a pair of little kids, like 6 or 5 years old wanted to play with us. We didn't and told them no, and then like 1 or 2 minutes later a Karen comes and starts screaming and saying she is going to kick us out of the restaurant if we don't play with her 2 daughters. Then she suddenly says she's the owner of the restaurant. So we go ask a waitress and she said the Karen hasn't ever come here. But for some reason the Karen decides to hit my little cousin so we accuse her for assault and she got kicked out of the restaurant.

Story 1: Well OP, you raised a good daughter, and apparently she chose a good bf too. I hate it when people do this, and i've had to deal with people who will walk in the middle of the road, next to a perfectly good sidewalk, then look at you like you're the jerk if you honk at them. I'd almost surprised none of them have gotten run over. Story 2: Okay, this is a tough one here. Andy doesn't seem like a good person/worker to being with, and he seemed to amp it up quite a bit before leaving, but trying to force that on him was a bit overboard. Im not sure what company or line of work this is, but it certainly sounds different from what i do. Those exit interviews are pretty annoying and pretty much serve no purpose. You could've just easily put the info like benefits and all into an email or letter with his final paycheck. Going above and beyond to get his boss and extra HR involved was also a bit much. Overall, i think everybody were jerks here. Story 3: Okay i dont think the OP is a jerk here but this was a major over-reaction here. Also, the gf/wife could've easily ignored or blocked the ex-bf here. Glad to hear that things worked out for the good in the end. Story 4: Id really not that hard to figure out that your ID should be a proper government-issued one. Those customers are pretty dumb here.... especially the one that asked about if they could use a Costco card.

In the field I work in, exit interviews are extremely normal and important to do. They have to make sure you have all the paperwork and documentation needed including having proper documentation signed by the employee leaving. They also want to learn about your experiences, if you are willing to share. This is normal practice in office settings where I live. The OP is 100% in the right. Andy was just being difficult for no reason and a jerk.

For the exit interview story, gotta disagree with the commentator. The exit interview was a requirement and it's HRs job to do it. If she didn't do it, she would likely get in trouble. As she also said, there was a lot more logistical issues to be done during that too. I know for one of mine, that was when I had to turn in my work phone, keys etc. Often it's making sure things aren't left half done and harder to fix after they leave.

I think they should call them something else. Interview sounds optional and it's not what the focus is about. They have to get proper paperwork submitted, signed and make sure the employee has everything they need when they leave. If this doesn't happen before they leave, they have to track the former employee down which can cause significant delays. The interview part is completely optional and they don't have to share their experience if they don't want to.

Now, seeing how he was able to put in a two-week notice, this is most certainly not the case. Needless to say, not a single state requires it by law, nor can you force anybody to do anything. You’re on just as much of a power trip as OP is lmfao… Anyways, I also found the post for this, and the person OP was talking about made his own post - in said post, he gives the company’s name. I went to their site, and exit interviews are strongly encouraged but not required. Therefore, OP was nothing but a mere lying and toxic paper pusher going on a power trip, and she even got bashed in her comments for such accusations that I just made. My initial statement still stands: exit interviews are worthless and you need to seriously stop lying. Lying in general is awful, but lying over the internet is just sad lmao. Either way, why do you feel so inclined to lie over the internet not once, but twice now? Please, answer me that, kid. Because truthfully, it’s quite sad if I’m being honest with you lmfao…. 😂🤷🏻‍♂️ OP is 210% the jerk and was going on a power trip in this scenario! 😂😂😂

He put a dual air horn on this tiny car and had a switch to flip between the little ne ne horn and the dual air horns that would make you turn into a cartoon character by jumping outta your clothes if completely surprised by them. Yep! Just pull up behind them and if they don't immediately move over just lay on the air horn and maybe even follow them while occasionally bellowing wide Karens coming, wide Karens coming, and lay on the air horn again. If an exit interview is part of rules and regulations for leaving a job, you don't get to complain about that on your way out. Especially not when you're already doing the scummy thing of giving less than minimum notice. Read the rules attributed to your position and company, and don't take the job in the first place. How can you even make an exit interview mandatory, if they don't show up what are the consequences? The company is required to give them the final paycheck regardless... It's purely for the company to know what they can do better, wrapped up in pretty words of 'we do this for them'. I'm usually all for sticking to the rules, but I don't see how this is a rule that can be enforced to begin with. The only thing I can say about this is the guy went about it all wrong. Just tell them you are not going to do the exit interview because you don't want to instead of making up some bullshit story. This guy probably had a different job lined up which started within the normal notice window, so I don't blame him for that either.

@@kayschut9327 I don't know how the laws work in other countries or how their businesses can practice, but it's a matter of whether or not it's listed as a company policy. There are a lot of ridiculous policies out there but if you want to work for a company you generally have to agree to them. Deciding on the way out "oh well I know its policy to do this for a proper break away from this business as an employee, but... Naaaahhhhh I don't wanna" is immature. Especially doing so by blaming it on issues that do not exist. If he didn't want to do the exit interview, then he should have quit on the spot. But by playing the corporate game and giving them a window, he was also agreeing to the mandated policies that are to take place during that window. He wanted to be paid for that final week of work, without actually doing all the work that was required

@@MajestDick Be honest, you don't look into a requirement for an exit interview (which is still the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a while) when you are signing up. Companies know that whenever someone quits (and a certain notice is required, otherwise no-one would give one. The OP even states that what the guy did was short but not illegal) they will only do the bare minimum for the company they are leaving. Including an exit interview as part of that work is just plain stupid. Also the reason people don't break company rules is so they don't get fired, which in this case isn't any detterent since he's leaving anyway. I do have to disagree with the narrator though, no-one in this situation is actually a jerk (the to be ex employee is stupid and a bit dishonest though). It's basically what you can expect from 2 parties that don't part on friendly terms (which is the feeling I'm getting from the story). Exit interviews are held to have an employee give his/her opinions on how things have gone, something this guy clearly had no interest in.

EXIT INTERVIEW Obviously you have NO CLUE why there is a need for an exit interview. So unless you want to risk having problems filling your tax return, you don't care if you lose up to 20% in early withdrawal penalties from your retirement and you don't need to keep your health insurance for the next 6-12 months while you wait out the waiting period then go right ahead and buck up against the Exit Interview, prove to every future employer that asks for a reference letter what a petty arse You are and don't do it. - HR Needs to make sure that they have the correct address for mailing the year end tax filing documents. - Any Retirement Savings Accounts need to have their closure type decided upon (Rollover IRA, port to new company's plan once qualified, cash out the account, etc) and discuss any tax implications, early/final distribution fees, affect on funds available at retirement, etc). - Medical Insurance almost never starts immediately upon starting a new job; There's normally a 6-12 month waiting period before you are eligible to join your newest employer's medical insurance. So, if you want something other than your health insurance will end when your employment ends then the exiting employee must sign up and pay. for the medical insurance to continue while they wait to be covered by a new Employer's Health Care Insurance Plan.

Mmh.. We only have the HR girls version here, and the guy was quitting for a reason, and was obviously pissed off with the company, mabe for good reasons. I had different jobs and i left every time to go elsewhere and i never had a mandatory "exit interview", sometimes the boss came to me to discuss informaly, to check things and have some intel about why i was going , but the paperwork... That's a bad excuse, especially in the 2020's , everything can be done without meeting with HR in person. And if they wanted a feedback, the way they treated him blew all the chances he gave them what they wanted, worst, it could lead him to go without giving some important intel or tips for his successor. I know how HR (Especially girls) can be, and sometimes they abuse of the power they have over employees, just because they can. If that interview was done in 10 minutes, it was not likely very important or necessary, and if it really was required, a little bit of diplomacy could have made him come, but obviously these women wanted to humiliate him. He already was going and was feeling bad, obviously, so, they could just have been comprehensive. But, in my experience, HR peoples tend to be cold hearted, i have seen plenty of exemples of bad peoples in these jobs...
