In defence of Officer Betsy, if someone is having a psychotic episode, no amount of talking will help. Given that the woman has gotten close enough to poke her, she was close enough to jam keys into eyes, pull a knife & go for the throat etc. Best, and only, thing you can do is take them down ASAP and restrain them.

I always have a place in my heart for people with problems, I have anxiety, depression and other issues. NOTHING like this Karen, But having sort of been there I know shit gets bad and sometimes you loose it. BUT what I absolutely despise is "entitled people"... That I do not give a shit about, I don't care who you are, what you do for work, who you are married to, who your parents are. I D G A F.. I don't. LOL This actually reminded me of MY first posting as security. I got a job and had been picked to be posted at a new contract my company had. It was a HIGH SCHOOL at...a LEGIT YUPPIE TOWN. Out of that whole town I would imagine at most 1-5% of the people were NOT LOADED. The rest were pretty much ALL either "someone important" or directly tied to someone important, OR just so friggin rich that they could get whatever they wanted if they tried.... Oh and all that takes is common sense for you to know the students of the school were just as bad, actually no the parents were worse. Because they were adults. They "knew better". My first interaction with one of "those types" of parents was when this idiot drove ONTO SCHOOL PROPERTY so fast in her land rover she almost jumped the speed bump. I NICELY walked up to her and told her if I ever saw her driving like that again I would have to call the police. Her response? "My husband is XYZ or SO & SO.. GO AHEAD pfffft nothing will come of it" so I called the cops. She was on camera... She got a ticket, the cop told her what I told her "IDGAF who your husband is" there are children (teens) around here and they don't deserve to get run over by you because you are "special" and think you are important enough to do whatever you want. that was a long time ago, the word KAREN has since been invented for people just like her. She was one of the first "Karens" in my life.

I can believe every word of it, because I've had similar experiences myself. There were two occasions I was buying tea at the counter near my workplace when I was interrupted by idiots. The first was a woman who assumed from my work suit that I was one of the shopping centre employees. I was in mid conversation with the tea staff member when the woman walked up beside me, and started this: Woman: "Are you security?" Myself: "No, I'm not." Woman: "Do you work here?" Myself: "No, I work in-" (That's as far as I got because she cut me off) Woman: "In one of the bathrooms there's a-" (So this time I cut *her* off) Myself: "Sorry! Nothing to do with me!" (She finally got the message) The other occasion was around the same time of morning. The counter staff had just prepared my tea and I was about to take it when some bastard poked me in the small of my back with his finger - he actually dug his finger into my body - and asked if there was a travel agent nearby. I told him it was around the corner to the right, and then he walked off. As I was returning to my office with the tea I noticed him still wandering around, and I realised why. The travel agent didn't open until 9:00am, which I didn't know when I told him. Also, he was expecting a shop, but it was just a table in an alcove of the shopping centre wall. I knew that, but after the impolite manner he'd approached me I didn't feel like telling him.

This really was a butterfly effect. Although in reality The main character security guard probably saved her life, as he was instrumental in her getting the help she needed. I mean imagine if she nearly died when she was not in a police cell where there would’ve been no help. Everything has a purpose and a reason I suppose.

I think in this case it was a blessing in disguise because it got rid of a bad apple (the husband) whom would've done a lot of damage to a lot of people. I've had several encounters of being mistaken for a store employee and vice versa, usually we just tell the other person we don't work here but we do tell them (if we know) where the product they are looking for is, or where they can find a store worker to help them. I've never encountered this type of entitled behaviour. Really, only incident I would count as bad was when this man was standing so close to me in the line at the bank that I could feel his zipper hitting my thighs, but when I turn to look at him he's looking elsewhere as if nothing's going on. I moved twice and twice he moved close to me and I was going to blow up if he does it a third time but it was my turn at the counter so I got a away from him. Thank god bad people although loud are a minority and the majority of us are still good people.

Officer Betsy did what she needed to do, a female alone dealing with a psychotic has few choices of how to handle it, and she efficiently and effectively got her subdued, cuffed, and in the car without having to shoot the woman, or taser her. Entitled husband got what he deserved, Karen got the help she needed, and everyone else were heroes!!! Excellent job presenting it too! 😊

She may have been diagnosed with having a psychotic episode, but it is entirely self-inflicted through a determined lack of discipline and personal responsibility. Willing to bet a weeks wages that IF she had a father, he protected her from mist consequences of her choices of action. Her displayed behavior is increasingly common at a disturbing rate amongst modern western women. Edit: Apparently it was her simp of a hubby that was protecting her from herself, which we all know will only enable the problem to become worse. So, not dad (that we know of), but there was an irresponsible male that was enabling the psychotic behavior and letting her think it's acceptable.

The slamming might sound like something from pro wrestling, but it’s really not. It’s something that we do even in Highschool wrestling, and some of the middle schoolers do it as well. I see no reason for people to be upset with Sergeant Betsy, as most of us can probably agree that we would have wanted to do the same thing. Most people will say they want to do something, but few actually do it. So I think we should be praising her for not taking any crap from that Karen. We are all human, and we all have a breaking point and our own lines that should never be crossed. (Edit) Guys I think that the guy should have bought what was on the list, as it would have been legally his. He could have bought the things, shown them to the woman, and left the store without giving her the items. Now he has spare groceries for the future for (if) whenever he needs it, and the woman’s time would have been wasted!

Everyone is talking about the Karen, few about the power-abusing asshole husband nor the good ol’ boys club that plague many systems. The husband was by far worse than the Karen. If the story stopped at Karen being arrested, then sure, Karen was a Karen, but it didn’t stop and showed Karen wasn’t the only villain. In fact, Karen got treatment, away from her asshole husband and apologized to everyone she could. SHE. GOT. BETTER. But keep focusing on bashing Karens.

When I was an LEO if a person unconsensually touched an officer they were immediately taken to the ground, handcuffed, thrown in the back of patrol car, taken to jail, charged and booked, then turned over to the prosecuting attorney. The prosecutor would then subpoena surveillance, dash cam, body cam in any other video evidence and pop popcorn 🍿 for herself, the defendant and their attorney. It was both the policy of our department and prosecuting attorney that you didn't put your hands on law enforcement officer,... Of course that was back when people respected cops and prosecutors prosecuted cases.
