Imagine you're interviewing one of your heroes and in the middle of that, the person says you're carrying on the legacy of a sorely-missed juggernaut of your field. The minute she got some privacy, I bet she either cried, screamed, or both at the same time. Anyway, I hope that hearing from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar about activism helps more folks get involved.

After retiring Mr. Jabbar worked as a volunteer coach at an Appache high school. He wrote "My Year on the Reservation" about the experience...warm, funny, and worth seeking out. I've not forgotten it.

I LOVED watching Sarah fangirl over Kareem! ❤️❤️❤️ You could see the true admiration by how flustered she got. She's usually cool as a cucumber. It's so genuine 🥰
Sarah is completely star struck and I love it!!! Kareem is so rare.
Top Notch choice in requesting Mr. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to speak. He certainly embodies humility, respect, reverence, honors History, intelligence in every category shown, joviality, and clearly kindness. I have not been a person familiar with his life and that has now changed. What a worthy person to learn from and support.
Side note. Everyone should watch his classic scene in Airplane! For a non-actor he had the perfect line delivery, and that very brief moment of him looking around before grabbing the kid by his shirt collar was comedy gold.

And I'm sure he knew what she meant by "mitzvah". What a mensch. What a gentleman.
I love the banner under his name: *NBA LEGEND* That's all you need to know about this man. I had the privilege of watching him scrimmage some of my team (the Suns) and the rookies/tryouts during a hot summer day in Phoenix at Veterans Memorial Coliseum as a kid. They would hold Rookie Camps there, because (I'm dating myself) it was one of the newest facilities of its kind. This man created so many amazing memories for basketball fans. I know now that I was lucky to watch him play.
Such a kind soul you can hear it in his voice , see it in his eyes and smile and most of all in his example for generations of young people .. and now I have chills after what he said to Sarah about Robin .. he’s pretty right on , and not just about that about the hate and the planet too ! He is a true sports hero from an era of true hero’s!
Wow the way he talked about Robin Williams and complimented her unexpectedly hit me right in the feels. So heartfelt and just shining with humanity and admiration.
Yes! Thank you for asking about Bruce. Those two were freaking amazing.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar! Always admired him! He's an amazing individual!
This interview is so sweet and adorable and also thoughtful. I love seeing Sarah being a total fangirl without forgetting why she's there. And Kareem is his usual amazing self. Gracious, sincere, and thoughtful. So glad this happened.
Two of my favorites…. Loved how Sarah wanted to put her face in Karem’s hand. It was obvious there were honest feelings there.
KAJ is a really great American. I love and respect him even more now. What a gracious man!
Wow! ! 😃 Kareem telling her that she has: "... revived the spirit of Robin Williams", brought tears to my eyes. . . 😅😢😁

"Should I end it?" I'm so used to them being all sad a regretful and saying how they have to end it here, being able to just continue talking is beautiful. You can really see that she's meeting her hero and she doesn't know where her hands should go and it's adorable.
I met him in Eugene Oregon in the 70s playing at Mac Court I just remember he's so tall and very kind
Kareem is the best!!! He was my favorite player and it's wonderful to see him talk with Sarah (another favorite of mine) about growth life, being human and his role as an activist. Thank you guys!!!
She asked some great questions! I love this interview.
I am deeply touched by this, and wish it could've gone on even longer. But thanks to Sarah for getting this interview, and being so geeky respectful. What a great, kind, gentleman, and what a cute and thoughtful in terview.
I got to meet KAJ as a teenager and he was so gracious and down to earth. He signed a T-shirt for me and held his hand up and we compared hand sizes. My lady hand wasn’t even as big as his palm. At the time I didn’t really know what a big deal he was because he was so nice and chill.
He is a treasure.
As a 64 year old..I remember his USLA dominance..and what he went through..and I was a Celtic fan..what an amazing man.

Sarah took this champ and turned him into a normal person who just took what was given to him and made the best of it. And it was just enough to make him a hero to many people. We can all be just as important to someone.
At one point, the caption read, "NBA Legend". Sorry, but Kareem is an American Legend. He is so much more than a basketball player.

Kareem is a legend and a philosopher
I am 68 but was not a ball fan when he was young and in college but was very aware of him and as his professional life progressed and i was still unaware of how cerebral he was but my attention was always piqued with every mew revelation of depth and ease he had doing it all including movies and his complexity was on fire! Anyway, from Lew to Kareem, all his life was a great display of "poetry in motion"! Thank you Kareem, you are beyond anything else i can offer and thank you Sarah, i really enjoyed this!👍🏼

This is awesome that it wasn't an interview, but more of Sarah meeting her idol , and Kareem is very much, the embodiment of humbleness, and being a class act
