the brown belt at 15:18 made me laugh and reflect on my time as a brown belt. one belt before the infamous black belt, he's all ego.. there's way too little calm in his advances on his class-mate there because he's trying to prove himself, then at that time mark I set, his ego backfires and he gets a nice little dose of karma. that thud was priceless!

Reality is 1st dan black belt is just the beginning and you won't progress any further if if you have that kind of an ego, if you're lucky enough to get the black belt at all! one of my class-mates was rejected on account of such a hot head attitude. A 2nd or 3rd dan once told me that brown belt is the most dangerous belt and this is a powerful reminder why

I failed the yellow belt when I was 8. The instructor told me to wait outside the gym while the other students were getting their new belts. I walked a mile to the nearest pay phone and called my Mom to pick me up. I never returned to that studio again.

@@jinxe2080 The public humiliation was overkill, especially for a service my parents were paying for. Not to mention it was freezing outside and the studio was suppose to be responsible for student safety.

the kids did real well. how far along are they now?

I would never let my students test if they are not ready. She was not ready, sorry.

Testing someone with Katas is one thing . The purpose is to check your from making someone spare is another if they aren't ready. They could get injured or seriously hurt.

She had done better then some black belt test I have seen

You can't do Belt test like regular class. It may be harder then regular classes. And motivated students not to give up and try again.

When I go to karate when my class promotes you to the next belt people are not allowed to watch and they put blind up on the windows so the kids and adults can’t get disturbed by things or people outside and it’s super difficult sometimes people want to quit it so hard but they motivate you to say and get the rank up. I think this is the worst way to rank up your students in my opinion it’s has to be special and I think this way actually prevents you from show your best self in rank ups.

karate test or internal school karate tournament ? Looks like a single school karate tournament , is that how this school tests for belts? I know that these are low belt ranks but all I saw were kids watching kids do kata. read the comment, about the girl sparring not being ready. Don't disagree but lets be real. no one looked like they were going to do any real damage, and a karate tournament is really nothing more than a game of tag. I think it was safe enough and even though she was timid I think she did just fine. I say congratulations to everyone, hope you all had fun and enjoy the new belt rank. I have a yt channel as well, even though it is not focused on martial arts I do have a bit up. I'd like, if you could find the time, for you to go to my channel and have you evaluate my martial arts videos. Always looking for feedback from a skilled martial artist. hope to hear from you.
