This is how walking works (thus, running and lunging like this, etc.). Walking is referred to as a controlled fall. You are off balance as your body weight falls forward until your foot lands, and it's on purpose.

@@paper2946 also if you see a dog shit and you’re about to step in it, do you or do you hold your foot mid air? Exactly. Because your body has a number of balancing and maneuvering mechanisms which prevent “falling.” Just bc you break concepts up into various fundamental parts does not make that concept equal to that one particular piece. I could jus tell you, you don’t see colors, there are certain EM waves emitting certain photons that are subsequently received through several membranes then interpreted by various psychological mechanisms, so you’re not really seeing youre just interpreting existent data. You see how that’s unnecessarily convoluted?

Everytime you move you're off balance.. And falling it's how we move..we constantly catch ourselves,,But with training we can improve our Equilibrium to move faster in any direction and be a better fighter....or Defense of self. As we get older it's important to practice falling and catching yourself off a wall or railing and soft area intentionally..just incase you fall not to injured yourself and try 10 min to balance on one foot, other foot slightly bent and butt slightly arched up for greater balance....Very important to atleast once have yearly have your inner ears and cleaned by professional md.. In training FROM SLAPS AND PUNCHES inner ears drums can be damage WEAR PROPER PROTECTION TOO... So if walking normal you can catch yourself safely without fighting the Fall.. BALANCE IS KEY IN EVERYTHING YOU DO walk/Defense Check book..etc...Wataaa! BALANCE travels Folks..😊 Not professional but can run circles around you while i run away..and take you off balance,,😂

Just bc you use words like balance or equilibrium means what you’re saying is valid. How are people falling and off balance when they walk? Esp if you’re saying mechanisms correct so you don’t fall or actually catch yourself off balance, you’re being semantically obtuse to make it seem like this one aspect of an entire system describes its function, essence, or purpose of said system. Walking is the system if I wasn’t being clear.

Every move is risky if your opponent reads it. That’s kind of the point he’s trying to make here. Every time you make a decision to do something, your opponent he’s the opportunity to counter. The key is that a good fighter makes the decision and commits to it with speed, explosiveness, technique and confidence.

That is probably true. But let us take a look at the reality of things. There's about 10,000,000 martial art/martial sport practioners in the world. If you moved all of them to the USA, that still leaves just over 97% of the population without training. So, the chance of someone understanding body shifting from a self-defense aspect is pretty much non-existent.

Fighting in real life you’ll need balance but it isn’t as simple as it sounds, fighting a good fighter your balance can be compromised at any time you move or lift your feet, real masters of their craft will crush your balance even with you grounded ( wrestlers, BJJ, etc ) even with cheesy ass techniques. So questioning his balance probably wasn’t the right question, it’s how can he apply it effectively!!!!
